I really can’t see Logan Sargeant or Zhou Guanyu having a seat in 2025.

Carlos is key to unlocking the driver market as there seems to be 3 options, Alpine, Audi (Sauber) or Williams. I can see Valterri staying at Sauber.

Sadly I think Ocon, DR and KMag may struggle to get seats. This is because Ollie Bearman, Liam Lawson and Kimi Antonelli are all waiting in the wings along with Jack Doohan.

The interesting one is Perez, I do wonder how much keeping Max happy is behind his contract. If RB lose the constructors title because both McLaren and Ferrari have two competitive drivers who are bringing home the points RB may change their minds. I also don’t think the power struggle at RB is over and that may also impact DR, Liam and Sergio.

@RobynRB Max squeezed Lando and left like less than a cars width going into the corner before they crashed. He then did the same on the exit. Both of these are against the rules. The 10 second penalty was justified.

Max does have the same mentality as Senna and Schumacher and their tragic accidents have lead to a sanitising of their flaws. Remember Michael was stripped of all his drivers championship points one year for trying to take out Jacques Villeneuve.

Lewis has had poor judgement in the past but he is a much cleaner racer. He now is the first to take responsibility if he makes a mistake.

Silverstone 2021 is still held up as Lewis overstepping but I can guarantee had the positions been reversed that a) Max would have gone for the gap on the inside just like Lewis and b) Lewis on the outside would have opened his wheel, avoided the crash and settled for second. Ironically if Max had done that there would be no controversy about his 2021 title.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see that most of the comments on the Formula 1 websites are quite balanced. It seems Lando needs to learn the difference between moving under braking and braking while driving straight (but not pointing straight ahead). It's a subtle distinction, but that's Max's defence, he didn't move his wheel to the left and I think he left just about enough room on the left for Lando. If this wasn't Max I'm sure it would have been a 'racing incideint', in fact it seems similar things happened between Hamilton and Sainz in previous years, without the punctures.

The rule is moving within the braking zone. Once they pass the 150m mark from the corner they must stay on the same trajectory. Max is describing the rule incorrectly with in the 100 m from the corner he clearly came off the racing line and moved to the left.

Sulusu · 01/07/2024 16:57

I think Occon said he has a seat for 2025, he just hasn't confirmed where it is yet.

What a lot of people conveniently forget about Silverstone 21 (when pointing the finger at Hamilton) is that there were a number of races prior where Verstappen had been very aggressive and Hamilton had taken evading action to avoid a collision, conceding position as a result.

When it came to Silverstone he played Max at his own game, and the result is what happened.

It can't and should not be the case that one driver can get away with being overly aggressive in their driving style over and over again, to the extent that other drivers have to make a choice between colliding or losing position. Max seems to have the viewpoint that it's for other people to get out of his way if they don't want to crash.

In the case of SS, any other driver in his position would have backed out or run wide (as I believe Leclerc did later in the race in the same position against Hamilton)

It's a shame because Max is extremely talented as a driver, but his attitude lets him down.

Brazilianadventure · 01/07/2024 18:33

@elessar absolutely correct, Max was over the limit a lot in 2021. The number of first lap clashes with Lewis was significant. Lewis learnt from China 2007 that sometimes second is the better option if it is the difference between finishing in the points and not finishing.

I thought Lewis at Silverstone in 2021 went for the gap and Max should have opened the steering to avoid a collision.

Martin Brundle in his column has picked up my point about Max running Lando off track after they crashed. Whilst no where near as dangerous, it was like Michael nearly putting Ruben’s in the wall. Completely unnecessary.

Martin also was disappointed with the RB pit wall for blaming Lando.

Max is the driver of his generation and has excelled but growing up he needed support from people with a calmer influence than Jos, CH and Helmut.

Anthony Hamilton and Ron Dennis were tough on Lewis but they expected him to follow the rules and how to conduct yourself when you lose.

At least we are having different winners this year.

@Sulusu I don’t know if you follow P1 with Matt and Tommy but they are on the main stage @11:00 on Sunday at Silverstone.

I’m just after seeing on social media that Sky F1 have let Danika Patrick go….can this be true? Have my prayers been answered????

Rowgtfc72 · 04/07/2024 04:36

@LookItsMeAgain oh I hope so!

Brazilianadventure · 04/07/2024 06:21

Sadly I think Danica is here to stay.

Apparently it was AI generated fake news that she'd been let go due to talk of lizard people. What a time to be alive eh?

I'm off to Silverstone today.

imworkinglatecosimasinger · 04/07/2024 09:05

So excited for Silverstone! Please let at least one Brit be on that podium!🙏🏻

I’m thinking Max will be given a hard time by the fans because of the debacle in 2021 of course and now what happened with Lando !

I hate booing for whoever it’s for 😐

Brazilianadventure · 04/07/2024 09:10

I hate the booing too, it’s not right.

@IdisagreeMrHochhauser have a fantastic time. Remember waterproofs and sunscreen.

It's my favourite weekend of the year. Come on Lewis and Lando!

CosFuckThatGuy · 04/07/2024 10:38

Definitely time for some fresh blood.

Wakemeuuuup · 04/07/2024 13:58

Yep, fab news obout Ollie Bearman

Jagley · 04/07/2024 14:31

So pleased Ollie Bearman has signed for Haas, seems like he's ready from how he drove when he stepped in for Sainz. I'd love to know what's going to happen with Sainz, I heard Williams. Hope anyone going this weekend has an amazing time!

Brazilianadventure · 04/07/2024 14:55

So pleased for Ollie.

For everyone who is going to Silverstone have a fantastic time.

I'm going on holiday so will have to find a bar that's showing the race!

Brazilianadventure · 04/07/2024 16:34

Just watched the drivers press conference Lando still seems to have a cold and watery eyes. I wonder if he suffers from hayfever.

Tom trying to get Lando and Lewis to talk about racing Max, sensibly they were both very reluctant to comment.

Rowgtfc72 · 04/07/2024 18:19

Hope everyone at Silverstone this weekend has safe travels and enjoys a brilliant weekend. I'd also take a Brit ( or two) on the podium.
Well done to Ollie Bearman. Dd was very excited, she's been following him for ages.

Sulusu · 04/07/2024 20:38

@Brazilianadventure thanks for the heads-up but I think that clashes our museum time slot. :(
There's loads in the schedule I think we will have to pick and choose things to do.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 04/07/2024 21:20

I met nearly all the Sky F1 team outside the paddock. I had a selfie with Natalie and Martin. I love Martin so I might have slightly quickened my step to make sure I managed to ask for one before he scooted off 😆 I would post it but that would be far too outing. Make do with this one instead. Naomi is gorgeous up close. I love her style.

Listening to Kings of Leon now.

LookItsMeAgain · 05/07/2024 08:58

Fab! It's currently wet for F3 practice. Wonder if the track will remain wet/damp for F1?

Delighted about Ollie Bearman - that race that he covered for Carlos was the making of him and really put him on the radar for other teams. Delighted that Haas picked him up.

When there are all of the excellent drivers from the lower categories who just cannot make their way into F1 because of all of the F1 drivers staying there for so long, should there be a career limit on the number of seasons (if you're not finishing in the top 10 drivers for example on a regular basis) and then you have to go back to F2 and F2 top 10 drivers move into F1? Something more fluid between the categories needs to happen, imo.
