It's true that Leah Galton must have felt very lucky on Friday, BellaAmorosa, but there was another bit later in the match when D'Angelo clearly realised that she needed to avoid making the same mistake again so she can learn quickly.

I've only just seen the Manchester City Chelsea result. I can see why Manchester City will feel they lost out but my goodness Chelsea never let anyone get away with a mistake. When did they last lose? I suspect it was the League Cup final.

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2023 18:29

I have only watched the first half of Man City - Chelsea, have been out all afternoon so not seen the Everton match yet. I gather the offside call was very harsh.

Yes Veje seems to have settled well and she is a starter, I didn't know she played for Arsenal.

All Gooners are praying that she does! None of our three keepers have had a good week, unfortunately.

DuncinToffee · 12/10/2023 20:40

Vilda has been appointed as manager of the Moroccan womens team, very poor decision.

I watched the second half of our tie with Man City in the Conti Cup. I just don't understand why they were set up to play out from the back, the players looked so uncomfotable and city just pounced on it.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 12/10/2023 20:58

Unbelievable. Those poor women.

@DuncinToffee Are the Conti cup matches shown live on FA player?

DuncinToffee · 12/10/2023 21:08

I actually don't know if they are on FAplayer, I watched the match on kick.com via the link provided by the club. (they are our sleeve sponsor)

Apart from Vilda being an awful choice, the previous manager had done well to get Morocco to the World Cup Finals. It's a bad decision all round.

i think at least some of the Conti Cup matches are on the FA player, MustTryHarderAndHarder. I have forgotten my password but the Spurs Reading game is shown as available to watch.

nettie434 · 12/10/2023 22:48

Should have added my sympathies about the result DuncinToffee. An added frustration that Jess Park did so well. City are hard to beat and I think they are definitely looking to remove any doubts about them being in the top 3 women's teams.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 15/10/2023 16:11

I really didn't think we were going to win that.

Russo played well and so pleased that she scored.

Palova was amazing for our first goal.

BellaAmorosa · 15/10/2023 18:39

Tactics, team selection all wrong but somehow we got over the line. Drama at the Emirates!

Congratulations to Everton, Duncintoffee!

DuncinToffee · 15/10/2023 18:56

YES! Great result and well deserved Grin I thought the ref was never going to blow her whistle at the end.

And well done Arsenal. I didn;t see your match but injury time winners are always special.

BellaAmorosa · 15/10/2023 19:18

Well we were awful but got away with it!

I didn't see the Everton match - I was excitedly blogging away and reading Arsenal Reddit - but I gather you played very well and fully deserved the win.

nettie I think ManU are going to be the entertainers of the league this year. All your matches have been a good watch. I saw the first half of this one. Good draw.

BellaAmorosa · 15/10/2023 19:49

I knew there was something else I meant to say, nettie
So sorry to see Gabby George forced off with a serious injury. She has been one of my favourite non-Arsenal players for a while. Always seems to have terrible luck with injuries.

nettie434 · 15/10/2023 20:07

A good result for Everton, especially at Anfield. I watched the Arsenal Villa game on TV. It was nice to see Beth Mead playing again, and to get an assist too. I noticed Sarina was there so she will be pleased too.

Did anyone predict Leicester would have such a good start, especially when they were in the relegation spot for much of last season?

nettie434 · 15/10/2023 20:19

BellaAmorosa Yes, that injury to Gabby George does not look good, does it? It's a bad sign that it was so early in the match. It's such a shame for her, just when she was getting established in the team.

Just three points separating the first 7 teams in the WSL is exciting.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 15/10/2023 21:18

I watched the last 10 + added time of the Liverpool derby and Everton were amazing.

@DuncinToffee do they play differently when they are playing Liverpool because if they played like that all the time they would be winning the league?

DuncinToffee · 15/10/2023 22:39

It does feel like that @MustTryHarderAndHarder . 4 derbies played at Anfield and all 4 won by the blues. Apart from the first 10 minutes, they played really well and I thoughr Heather Payne was outstanding.

I hadn't heard of Gabby George's injury, hope it isn't too bad, she only just came back from a hamstring injury and had that acl injury not that long ago

BellaAmorosa · 16/10/2023 16:10

Ok - rewatched Arsenal last night and we were a lot better than I gave us credit for. I get so stressed about my team that that influences my judgment. We needed to be better in the final third - more accurate and more imaginative - but we were so much better than two games ago. We did deserve the win.

DuncinToffee · 16/10/2023 20:30

ACL for Gabby George, I feel so sorry for her

Yes, we played well but their goal keeper was excellent as well and we have hit the crossbar a lot in all our games.

So sad for Gabby George.

BellaAmorosa · 17/10/2023 11:26

Poor Gabby George. That woman has no luck. She would be a stalwart of the England team were it not for all the injuries she has suffered over the years. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

nettie434 · 17/10/2023 12:59

Yes, it's such a shame for Gabby George. I think it's her second ACL injury, isn't it? She's having an operation today. I hope she recovers as soon as possible and that they will do more to find out why more women footballers than men seem to get ACL injuries.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 18/10/2023 21:09

So Wolfsburg out by the same team that knocked us out.

We were both unlucky to get one of the best teams. There were so many other much weaker teams that we could have been drawn with.

Same with Man U.

Seems ridiculous that the group stages is going to miss some of the stronger teams and some weak teams have gone through.

They need to change the format of the competition.

BellaAmorosa · 19/10/2023 19:30

They do need to change the format (but as a gooner, I would say that, wouldn't I?😂)

Paris FC, just wow. They are now my new favourite non-Arsenal women's team.

BellaAmorosa · 20/10/2023 13:11

Just realised I "mashed up" MustTryHarderAndHarder's and nettie's posts in my answer.

Saudi Arabia want to host the Women's World Cup in 2035. Unbelievable brass neck. And yet Fifa will give it to them. Or sell it to them, I should say.
