The Spanish FA put out this statement, unbelievable Angry

twitter.com/alexibaceta23/status/1695443762804060440?s=20

The RFEF has released a new statement in response to Jenni Hermoso’s statement

“We have to state that Ms. Jennifer Hermoso lies in every statement she makes against the President.”

“We have all the pertinent reports and expert opinions that prove what the President has stated and we are going to take the corresponding legal actions against all those people who are falsifying reality and committing very serious crimes.”

“The facts are what they are; and, no matter how many statements are made to distort reality, it is impossible to change what happened. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹.”

“The consent was given in the moment with the conditions of the moment. Later you can think that you have made a mistake, but you cannot change reality.”

That statement is rape logic. And far too personal from a supposedly professional association.

DuncinToffee · 26/08/2023 17:51

11 members of the WNT coaching staff have resigned

The statement from the 11 members of the coaching staff says Rubiales "offered a story that does not reflect in any way what was felt by Jenni Hermoso, who has expressly stated that she felt she was the "victim of aggression", and that they are resigning from their positions.

"Given the unacceptable attitudes and statements made by the president, they have made the decision to relieve themselves of their duties," it reads as translated by sports presenter Semra Hunter.

The resignations would leave the manager Jorge Vilda on his own.

Vilda supports Rubiales and has his own issues with the players.

Wow.
That is some statement.

As, indeed is all the coaching staff resigning. Fair play to them.

NorwayLass · 26/08/2023 18:48

Awful statement. No understanding of consent.

This is shocking, and almost makes me glad that Rubiales has done this so publicly and that has brought the whole thing into the World's spotlight. I, for one, knew nothing about this previously.
I hope there is enough pressure now for significant changes to the whole organisation to be made.

What a shame for all the players though - at a time they should be on an absolute high after winning the World Cup, they are just having to fight another battle.

Yes, I think that it is the best thing to have happened to Spanish football and I am actually pleased that we did not win the WC if it means these poor Spanish women are finally listened too.

Their battle is more important than us winning the WC. The mental torture they must have endured.

BellaAmorosa · 27/08/2023 15:39

Vilda now distancing himself from his mate Rubiales. Having applauded Rubiales' self-exculpatory speech the other day, he now decides the man's behaviour was "inappropriate". Totally unconnected, I am sure, to the mass resignation of all Vilda's coaching staff, leaving his position vulnerable.

And the sexual violence protocol has been activated as a result of a complaint being received. I don't know what the procedure is but my guess would be that this makes a general inquiry more likely.

Spanish FA activates sexual violence protocol

An internal investigation is launched at Spain's football federation after its sexual violence protocol is activated.

Really disgusting , they need to clear out the whole lot. The team clearly didn’t need their help to win!!

Yes, totally agree with this. This needs to happen and I assume that Vilda now realises that it is likely to happen and that his mate and Daddy will not be able to protect him any more.

In the newspaper it said that one of the strikers from the men's Spain team had also said that he would no longer play for them in solidarity with the women.

The article also said that all Rubiales needed to have done was to apologise and then it would have all been forgotten. I am so pleased he was too arrogant to do that otherwise nothing would have changed.

nettie434 · 28/08/2023 00:12

Hello everyone! I hadn't realised this thread existed and am pleased to have found it.

There was a good article in The Athletic which pointed out that Rubiales' behaviour became worse as the presentations went on. It was handshakes for the referees and officials, then he touched some of the England players and by the time he got to Hermoso, it was way beyond what would be acceptable in terms of being carried away by the excitement of the occasion. So it's not just about one incident but multiple ones.

Some Spanish women had already said they would not play under Vilda. It's worth remembering that England's former manager Mark Sampson was sacked because of 'inappropriate boundaries' between manager and players when he was at Bristol academy. There were also accusations of racism too, although these were not why he was sacked. It seems like this problem is endemic. Men in powerful positions in national and international football are in such positions of power compared to young players.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 28/08/2023 08:18

Welcome @nettie434

Which team do you support?

Yes, there seem to be a lot of problems with women's football and women's sport in general.
The only positive thing is that women and girls are finally able to speak out. They are slowly being listened to but too slowly and as the Spanish case shoes only when there is no choice but to listen because the whole world is watching.

He seems to be using his extended family to get past the FIFA ban of Rubiales and the Spanish FA contacting Hermoso

Vile vile person

Thanks for the welcome IMustDoMoreExercise. I support Man Utd - especially the women's team. Everyone else I know supports Arsenal. The WSL looks as if it will be exciting this year. I'd love to see Villa breaking into the top teams and West Ham have been gaining ground too.

Hi, @nettie434

Agreed about the WSL. Sorry to hear that you support Man United (😉) Just kidding!

I have no doubt whatsoever that Aston Villa will break into the group of top teams. They are a really talented side with a very exciting and capable manager who has given them a strong identity and recruited very cannily. Also they have financial backing.

Everton are a sleeping giant IMO - they have some great players, they have the history and they might be putting it together after a couple of false starts in the last two or three seasons.

His mother and cousin should be ashamed of themselves. Rubiales is a pig.

I hope JH sues him personally and that this conduct - backdoor harassment - is taken into account by the officials doing the sexual violence investigation. It's all sooooo rapey.

She sounds like a doting, overindulgent mother, but she hasn't been accused of sexually assaulting anyone as far as we know!

DuncinToffee · 28/08/2023 13:25

Hi nettie

I hope you are right about Everton Bella, we have made quite a few new signings so I hope the team has been strenghtened and will gell.

Closing the gap between top, middle and bottom would be great for the game.

Ha ha, no. I meant about that both being vile and not caring about the real victim. They both want to make themselves out to be the victim.
