Yes, the seniors need to watch out. All the youngsters seem so competent.

Godfrey is playing so well.

BellaAmorosa · 24/05/2024 13:04

Should have had more goals, and I agree the youngsters outshone the more experienced players. I agreed with Adrian Clarke's POTM choice. Katie Reid played like a senior.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 24/05/2024 17:03

Yes, but the Aussies had a very good defensively.

Agree, Katie was amazing.

BellaAmorosa · 31/05/2024 10:19

So how are Chelsea fans feeling about Sonia Bompastor? Good? Missing Hayes already?

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 31/05/2024 17:57

France are going to be tough to beat tonight.

Pity James is injured.

Above is going to be deleted. I'm in a bad mood and that was a bit mean-spirited.
What I should have said is:

France are tough but they are always vulnerable. They are one of those teams that underachieve, given the talent they have. They all love Herve Renard (silver fox!) but I'm not sure he's the one to change that.
We are very short of players but Sarina is lucky to have depth to call on. Good luck to the debutants.

I have been having a bit of a football break so thanks for the reminder, the game is live on ITV4

Very evenly balanced game.

domineastronomy · 31/05/2024 21:19

England have had the best chances to get a second goal but we are a bit careless in possession.

Thank you.
I just got in (been following the scores) and gutted to find it didn't seem to be on any of the main channels.
I knew you lot would help me find it

DuncinToffee · 31/05/2024 21:34

Very scrappy defending for that goal.

Game is lacking quality from both teams, it's all a bit slow

FT 2-1 loss. England was struggling a bit, it didn't really flow. Let's hope it will be better on Tuesday.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 31/05/2024 22:21

Milly Bright just seemed so nervous for most of the match.

Hopefully we will do better on Tuesday.

BellaAmorosa · 01/06/2024 08:37

Millie Bright wasn't her usual self, that's for sure. It's such a shame Lotte Wubben-Moy is injured, because she would have been the ideal replacement. Plus she and Leah Williamson are already a unit at Arsenal and can both play as the left- or right-sided CB.
England can work on set piece defending between now and Tuesday.

Yes, LWM and Lauren James would have made a big difference.

The thing is, that I don't think that we could have done much about either of their goals really.

The first one was a wonder goal and, perhaps we could have done better for the second but it would have been difficult.

BellaAmorosa · 01/06/2024 13:04

Not the actual strikes - like you say, wonder goal and a snap shot, both taken very quickly - but maybe we could have done more to take control in earlier phases - cleared the ball more convincingly.
Edited for grammar

Yes, hopefully.

But I think that Serena is too loyal to the older players like Bright and Bronze.

We have so much talent on the bench, but she is not prepared to take the risk.

Of course, it is easy for me to say as I wouldn't get the flack if it all went wrong, but it all went wrong yesterday so hopefully she will be brave enough to make some changes on Tuesday.

BellaAmorosa · 01/06/2024 16:10

Yup, Sarina's thing is playing the same lineup over and over again, but injuries have prevented that for over a year now. And certain players have become comfort blankets. Yes to using the bench more. How are Morgan and Millie Turner and Le Tissier going to improve or get more experienced otherwise? There are probably fewer than six players in the world that are worth putting on the pitch when not quite fit, and they're mostly attackers or midfielders, I would imagine! Although I can see why Greenwood didn't play at CB or LB because Katoto and Diani are both very physical players, and for all her talent, that is just not Greenwood's strong suit.

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2024 20:24

Great goal from Stanway!

France score from a penalty. Nervy defending from England under pressure from France this half
