I'm watching it with my children. We're doing a topic on the Olympics for our Home Ed, so this is interesting for them.

It is weird to not have a massive audience. I think Andrew Cotter said there were about 1000 in the stadium.

Oh thanks for the thread. Yes I wouldn't miss it. Kids can't understand why the lady was singing and no one in the seats.

I am and it’s really quite dull so far!! I guess as a nation the Japanese are fairly reserved but I was expecting more in the way of technology and special effects, particularly as there’s fewer cast and no audience.

I suspect it will pick up a bit soon. It's not surprising it's more solemn at the beginning considering the situation.

Andrew Cotter is wonderful and I will hear no bad words said about him.

I was but have turned it off for a bot, will come back to it when it's the parade. It's such a shame as it had the potential to be so fabulous (I'm a big Olympics, and a big Japan fan) but it's all just turning out to be a bit weird.

I'm finding it a bit sad and poignant, not helped by that weird death dance. All those masks and empty seats 😪

The kids are loving it. I suppose it's nice that it's not so flamboyant with all that's gone on and lives lost.
