Small lump started about a week ago, each day goes by it progresses.. Today its red raw where my thighs have rubbed together the skin has broken down. I've lathered it magnesium sulphate and hot compress... I can see a very tiny head coming up.
My god the agony is unreal.. Also don't feel myself at all. Not feverish or anything. Just feel really terrible.
What is this? Boil? Abscess??

The white stuff is magnesium sulphate BTW

Thanks @Gladioli23, I can see it wasn’t totally clear from my post. Yes, paracetamol OR cocodamol with ibuprofen. Not both.

Kerikerikeri · 02/10/2021 22:26

Ah this sounds so sore OP. Hope you get some relief soon.

I would also be tempted to try and pop it. But you would need to be careful to sterilise whatever you use and ideally wear sterile gloves.

Is there any movement at all when you squeeze it, or is too painful?

PurpleDaisies · 02/10/2021 22:27

Nhs advice is not to squeeze or try to pop it. Posters really ought to stop trying to persuade the op to have a go at it.

Gladioli23 · 02/10/2021 22:28

@PurpleDaisies

Thanks *@Gladioli23*, I can see it wasn’t totally clear from my post. Yes, paracetamol OR cocodamol with ibuprofen. Not both.
My friend accidently overdosed by not realising co-codamol had paracetamol in, so my paranoia levels are high on this!
Inagony234 · 02/10/2021 22:28

It hurts to touch.. I held the shower head on it earlier and blasted hot water onto it and tried to squeeze it gently but it was so sore. Its just red raw, the skin on top has just disintegrated.

Kerikerikeri · 02/10/2021 22:28

Apologies I can see my advice is wrong to try and pop it.

Sounds like you need to head to A&E and have it sorted there x

Kerikerikeri · 02/10/2021 22:29

Is it worse now than your earlier pic OP?

TheGrumpyGoat · 02/10/2021 22:30

You really need to get yourself to a&e OP.

PurpleDaisies · 02/10/2021 22:30

I’d actually rewritten my post to try to be clear you could take paracetamol with ibuprofen, or you could take cocodamol/codeine with ibuprofen. I’m blaming it being late for it still not being totally crystal clear.

Yankee63 · 02/10/2021 22:30

It’s late now, and you have dc
So if it’s not popped by the time you get up(I’m sure it will have)ask next door neighbour to sit with dc and go to a&e, I’m sure they will see you soon

Inagony234 · 02/10/2021 22:30

It's so grim. I'll probably get a call back in the middle of the night. Will see how I feel tomorrow morning, I'm worried as I can feel a sensation down my leg also, I can't explain it. But it feels odd

OP posts:
Yankee63 · 02/10/2021 22:31

If there’s no Skin that why it’s so sore! It’s raw

Kerikerikeri · 02/10/2021 22:31

Do you have a fever?

purplebatbear · 02/10/2021 22:31

Go to A&E. A doctor further up the thread just said it's an abscess and will need draining. I've had one and it looked just like that. They need surgical intervention

CantThinkOfaUserNameAgain · 02/10/2021 22:32

Please don’t wait for 111 to call back.
Please go to A and E tonight.
My son has something similar and ended up with Sepsis. I am only telling you this to urge you to get medial help tonight.

He went from feeling fine to being very sick within hours.

That was 5 years ago and he is fine.
Please don’t hesitate to go.

Inagony234 · 02/10/2021 22:34

This is it now. :(

ShuddaBeenMe · 02/10/2021 22:34

I would go to A and E now.

Inagony234 · 02/10/2021 22:34

Oh the picture didn't attach.. Here..

purplebatbear · 02/10/2021 22:35

A&E lovely x

Inagony234 · 02/10/2021 22:36

No fever, don't feel jittery or dizzy like I did earlier. Breathing normal.
It just hurts a lot because its raw skin.. It's sore to touch.

OP posts:
NotMyCat · 02/10/2021 22:38

OOH will probably do antibiotics
They really, really don't like draining them unless absolutely necessary. I've had hundreds if not thousands similar and they've drained one, and that was only after about a week (and they will usually do general anaesthetic as well as you can't numb infection)
If you have a temp or feel shivery or unwell then yes to a&e but people say a&e a lot on here for draining - in my experience they won't

Benjispruce4 · 02/10/2021 22:38

It’s hardly an emergency. You’re doing the right thing by keeping an eye and phoning for advice.

Benjispruce4 · 02/10/2021 22:39

My reply was to those saying A&E.

TheVolturi · 02/10/2021 22:39

Is there anyone you could trust to look after your dc while you go to a@e?

TheGrumpyGoat · 02/10/2021 22:40

@Benjispruce4

My reply was to those saying A&E.
The OP said she was feeling unwell along with it. Sepsis can kill within hours. I know, because it nearly killed me a few years ago. That’s why people (including an a&e Dr upthread) are recommending a&e.
