Enormous underarm boil... does this need a doctor?

Apologies for the stubble Blush

This has come up over the last 4 days and it's super-annoying. Magnesium sulphate hasn't done much, nor have hot compresses (although it has grown pretty big pretty fast).

Should I get to the docs to have it drained?

Could it be alive? Any sign of it wriggling as it emerges?

Could it be a lipoma that's got infected and the it's the 'fatty' bit?

After all the grossness i've shared this far, do you really think I'd notice it wriggling and NOT MENTION it?! 😂

I think my money's on @WrongWrhododendron's guess...

Maybe not, sadly. But be ready to video it just in case.

How did I not know about threads like these? I had a sebaceous cyst under my arm that behaved itself for years before randomly growing to a Grapefruit size abscess overnight.... I hat to go and to have it removed as an emergency and the surgeon made a deal with me, if I agreed to the GA over a local then she'd give me the gory details afterward ... apparently her assistant got shot in the face when it exploded on the table. Why did they want you to have a GA, they normally keen for people to have local if possible? We’re they expecting it to be bad?

Please could someone briefly explain lipomas so I don’t have to see pics I’m not ready for by Googling them?

I’m still at the squeamish end of the sporner spectrum when it comes to images. Inner conflict

Well, after a trip to the doctors this morning it seems you're in luck, @MorriseysGladioli.

It's a cyst. Trying to get an appointment for surgery now. Looks like it might take a week or so, so I'm going to have to live with this little alien thing for the time being...

I think it's better for removing the sac when there is no infection left.

Isn't it amazing how quickly they come up.
Glad you got it seen to by the gp.

You poor thing. But you definitely need to name it if it is going to live on you for a bit longer.

I thought cysts were the ones full of dead skin cells? Stuff tends to come out in ribbons.

Went for an appointment with a surgeon and he's now saying it's HS and Le Lump is an inflamed gland.

I can't keep up...
