Enormous underarm boil... does this need a doctor?

Apologies for the stubble Blush

This has come up over the last 4 days and it's super-annoying. Magnesium sulphate hasn't done much, nor have hot compresses (although it has grown pretty big pretty fast).

Should I get to the docs to have it drained?

Oh dear Op that looks so sore!
I am definitely posting to offer sympathy and the sensible advice to have it lanced at the doctors
and not at all to place mark for the puss

I think you need to see a doctor again. I am surprised that you weren't referred for incision and drainage.

Oh gosh I’m horrified and transfixed at the same time…don’t want to look but can’t help it lol!

I had one like that. At first I thought it was going to be a disappointment, because all it was producing was thin streams of quite watery stuff, but it then started thickening and I had a couple of glorious sessions when I could not believe the amount of thick, yellow pus that popped out. It took a couple more days of thoroughly enjoyable (and progressively harder) squeezing before it was all clear.

There is something wrong in my noggin!

Whatever you do, don’t even attempt to shave around it until completely healed. Leave the stubble grow, you don’t want any additional infections. Keep go with the magnesium

Has anyone seen that Richard E Grant movie, ?

The one where he develops a talking boil that then becomes an extra head out of his shoulder?

I feel like I might be the sequel...

I had this three years ago. I took antibiotics (three times) and it would go, but some back. In the end, I had it cut open and drained. The doctor who did it said I'd have to have a general and get all the cells scraped out. I didn't go. I'm on my own with a little one and I can't be going and having a general. So, I left it. It came back two days ago. I'm on antibiotics again. It's very painful because it's trying to push it's way through scar tissue. I'm so fed up. I'm on anti-biotics again. It's very painful. I'm quite pleased to have found other people with the same experience. I didn't know this board existed though. You're all sickos! ;-) Mt granddad has TERRIBLE black heads all over his neck. My mum used to squeeze them. But she hated it! She just did it to help him. I can definitely only deal with my own pus.

@haveibeencaughtout that's a shame, sounds painful. Can you not get a family member or friend to look after your little one?

I had 3 in the same armpit when I was about 14-15. I’m 51 now and remember it so vividly. When they burst I had to gave the district nurse come in every day to pack the holes till they healed…which she did with her massive metal scissor thingys while cackling evilly .

Did I mention they tried to close the hole in mine afterwards with silver nitrate sticks? And then said "most people usually tolerate them well"

Ahem. A photo of this one is also required.
