We have been asked by the team at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter to find around 75 MNers and their families to attend a special event for MNers at the Studio Tour (near Watford) to experience the attraction (and have a couple of extra treats) and to report back to the rest of MN.

They say "step on to authentic sets, discover the magic behind spellbinding special effects and explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Harry Potter™ film series. Tread the original stone floor of the iconic Hogwarts™ Great Hall, encounter animatronic creatures and wander down Diagon Alley™. Located at the Studios where all eight films were produced, the Studio Tour showcases the incredible British talent, imagination and artistry that went into making the impossible a reality on screen. Visitors will relive the magic through the eyes of the filmmakers who brought the Harry Potter film series to life".

We're looking for families to attend a tour of the studios where there will be some special treats for MN families - including a free souvenir guidebook, food during the tour (hot dog/goujons/mac and cheese per person from the Backlot Cafe), glass of wine/beer/soft drink and a Butterbeer taster! There will also be a chance to have a group photo in the flying car Smile.

This is a special event for MNers who love the Harry Potter films or even film making in general.

The tour is aimed at children aged 8+ but if you have younger children they can attend if you wish. It's accessible to all including buggies.

The event will take place
Near Watford North London
On Wednesday 23rd March
Arrival from 4pm (must arrive by 5pm) and the tour lasts around 3 hours. Note there may be some waiting around when you arrive due to being allocated the next available tour.

There is a free on-site car park, which is a short walk away from the entrance to the Studio Tour, with designated disabled parking. For those arriving by train, a shuttle bus runs to and from Watford Junction train station every 20 minutes (£2.50 return).

MNers can attend with their partner and children - please specify your group size on the sign up form.

You will need to make your own way to the event and attendance is strictly by invitation only!

After the event, we'd need you to please give your feedback on a thread on MN - and add a review in the MN days out section (here)

If you'd like to attend please add your details here and we will be in touch with selected MNers asap. NOTE: there will be a strict list of names and party size on the door.

All MNers who share their feedback of the Studio Tour and add a review will be entered into a prize draw where two lucky MNers will win a goody bag containing a Harry Potter wand, Fizzing Whizzbees, Peppermint Toads, Chocolate Frog and a packet of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans (worth £57.75).

Thanks and good luck!

Applied. Yes please. Ds1 has been before a long time ago. Ds2 hasn't been before. Both mad for HP - films, books, wands.
Ds2 went as Ron Weasley to school dressing up WBD the other day. He did look quite a lot like him!

ToucanPlay · 11/03/2016 18:26

I've added my details! My eldest is Harry Potter mad. I.would absolutely love to take him!

Doobydoo · 11/03/2016 20:34

Have not yet received Owl with letter telling me we are the Chosen Ones

IAmAPaleontologist · 11/03/2016 20:48

I have a job interview that day :(

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 11/03/2016 21:01

Would love to do this, my 2 are totally Potter mad at the moment.

ThisToo · 11/03/2016 21:24

This sounds amazing! I decided our mode of transport will have to be the car since central heating means we aren't connected to the Floo Network, DS is under age so can't apparate and frankly he is a liability on that bloody Firebolt he got for Christmas, so flying is out of the question.

KP86 · 11/03/2016 21:25

I've applied. Please, please, please! We are a small group of three, surely you can squeeze us in, haha!

ToucanPlay · 12/03/2016 04:50

Is it really sad that I've just woke up (4:50am) and the first thing I did was check this thread and my email for updates? GrinBlush

Bambambini · 12/03/2016 08:14

Me, please. I have 13 and 10 yr old whose reading Deathly Hallows tight now! We've been wanting to go for ages!

pukkapine · 12/03/2016 08:32

Me too ToucanPlay - I have become obsessed and nervous! I must have refreshed this thread about a million times checking for updates... I made the daft mistake of telling DH how awesome this opportunity is, without realising DS was in ear shot (in my defence he's been very hard of hearing lately due to problems with his ears) - so now I have not only my own excitement to contend with, but over-excited ASD 9 year old's too.... face-palm....

When do you think you'll know MNHQ (no pressure... but I do feel a little like I'm sitting around the Goblet of Fire waiting for names to be drawn...)?

ToucanPlay · 12/03/2016 10:19

Yes! I live in Manchester so haven't been able to go because I can't afford both the ticket price AND the train fayre, but with my family rail card the train will be £113 for the 4 of us, which I can do without entry cost!

Omg I'm so giddy about this Grin

Doobydoo · 12/03/2016 11:04
