Harry Potter or film mad? Want to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour on 23 March and report back for MN? NOW CLOSED

We have been asked by the team at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter to find around 75 MNers and their families to attend a special event for MNers at the Studio Tour (near Watford) to experience the attraction (and have a couple of extra treats) and to report back to the rest of MN.

They say "step on to authentic sets, discover the magic behind spellbinding special effects and explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Harry Potter™ film series. Tread the original stone floor of the iconic Hogwarts™ Great Hall, encounter animatronic creatures and wander down Diagon Alley™. Located at the Studios where all eight films were produced, the Studio Tour showcases the incredible British talent, imagination and artistry that went into making the impossible a reality on screen. Visitors will relive the magic through the eyes of the filmmakers who brought the Harry Potter film series to life".

We're looking for families to attend a tour of the studios where there will be some special treats for MN families - including a free souvenir guidebook, food during the tour (hot dog/goujons/mac and cheese per person from the Backlot Cafe), glass of wine/beer/soft drink and a Butterbeer taster! There will also be a chance to have a group photo in the flying car .

This is a special event for MNers who love the Harry Potter films or even film making in general.

The tour is aimed at children aged 8+ but if you have younger children they can attend if you wish. It's accessible to all including buggies.

The event will take place
Near Watford North London
On Wednesday 23rd March
Arrival from 4pm (must arrive by 5pm) and the tour lasts around 3 hours. Note there may be some waiting around when you arrive due to being allocated the next available tour.

There is a free on-site car park, which is a short walk away from the entrance to the Studio Tour, with designated disabled parking. For those arriving by train, a shuttle bus runs to and from Watford Junction train station every 20 minutes (£2.50 return).

MNers can attend with their partner and children - please specify your group size on the sign up form.

You will need to make your own way to the event and attendance is strictly by invitation only!

After the event, we'd need you to please give your feedback on a thread on MN - and add a review in the MN days out section (here)

All MNers who share their feedback of the Studio Tour and add a review will be entered into a prize draw where two lucky MNers will win a goody bag containing a Harry Potter wand, Fizzing Whizzbees, Peppermint Toads, Chocolate Frog and a packet of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans (worth £57.75).

Hello to all the lovely people who have posted such nice comments about my son, at least I am pretty sure it must be him. He was dressed in his full Slytherin robes and is a huge, huge fan. He also has ASD and has a habit of talking at people rather than to them, which probably explains my concern he may have been talking a little too much. I will be sure to share your comments with him as it will do his self esteem the world of good (he's more used to negative attention at school). So glad we got the opportunity to go, thank you Warner Bros and Mumsnet.

I had such a great time. Being a Mumsnetter was like being royalty.

I thought all the children were lovely, everyone took turns, there was no Performance Parenting, it was bliss! They should have Mumsnet only days in future. Said Hi to a mumsnetter in the food queue, (with v stylish DD in black dungarees) but decided I would feel a pillock saying 'I'm LunaLunaLovegood'...

That was my first experience of real life and Mumsnet combining. I think we are a lovely bunch :)

Hi Luna I remember the photo collection moment I totally agree with you, everyone seemed lovely and friendly (luckily for my son, clearly ), but it would have been weird to go round saying "hi, I'm ThisToo, nice to meet you"

I also wanted to go round saying Hi, I'm fuzzpig! :o

We didn't see many MNers though - we got there pretty early and they let us go in before the given time. So I was concerned that I'd confuse non-MNers by assuming. Starting to like the idea of MN badges :o

Oh your DS was so lovely ThisToo. He reminded me so much of my niece who is also on the spectrum. Such enthusiasm for his subject. He was encouraging me to press the bell on the Knight Bus at one point and he was so earnest and lovely. Such a pleasure to see him enjoying himself.

Please Warner Bros and MN - please give the family stuck on the motorway for 5 hours and the poor poor family questioned by police tickets to go to HP studios. I want to cry when I think about them and all they went through and that they missed HP because of it. So unfair.

Did I miss something? A family was questioned by the police about going to Harry Potter??

Nope. No recollection of that. You were lovely and friendly. I'm cripplingly shy and may have blushed a lot but that's because I'm a pillock, not because I wasn't pleased to see a friendly face and your very smartly dressed boys.

I deliberately didn't speak to anyone I spotted because I am hideously antisocial.

Though I did do a spot of Loud Parenting while wearing a Brown Slouchy Handbag™ and one of my kids was wearing Boden while the other was a precocious little girl wearing "boy's" shoes so we were clearly a MN family ready for approach

DP made a pillock of himself by calling Luna lovegood Luna lovelace in the queue and swooning over belatrix I kept telling him to shush!

There was no way i was going to give my screen name away for fear of people thining "ohh that loud mouthed fishwife LEM"

Swooning over a Death Eater? Surely that's a LTB-level offence?

YEs - especially as he replaced a pic of me as screen saver on his phone for one of her!!
