We have been asked by the team at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter to find around 75 MNers and their families to attend a special event for MNers at the Studio Tour (near Watford) to experience the attraction (and have a couple of extra treats) and to report back to the rest of MN.

They say "step on to authentic sets, discover the magic behind spellbinding special effects and explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Harry Potter™ film series. Tread the original stone floor of the iconic Hogwarts™ Great Hall, encounter animatronic creatures and wander down Diagon Alley™. Located at the Studios where all eight films were produced, the Studio Tour showcases the incredible British talent, imagination and artistry that went into making the impossible a reality on screen. Visitors will relive the magic through the eyes of the filmmakers who brought the Harry Potter film series to life".

We're looking for families to attend a tour of the studios where there will be some special treats for MN families - including a free souvenir guidebook, food during the tour (hot dog/goujons/mac and cheese per person from the Backlot Cafe), glass of wine/beer/soft drink and a Butterbeer taster! There will also be a chance to have a group photo in the flying car Smile.

This is a special event for MNers who love the Harry Potter films or even film making in general.

The tour is aimed at children aged 8+ but if you have younger children they can attend if you wish. It's accessible to all including buggies.

The event will take place
Near Watford North London
On Wednesday 23rd March
Arrival from 4pm (must arrive by 5pm) and the tour lasts around 3 hours. Note there may be some waiting around when you arrive due to being allocated the next available tour.

There is a free on-site car park, which is a short walk away from the entrance to the Studio Tour, with designated disabled parking. For those arriving by train, a shuttle bus runs to and from Watford Junction train station every 20 minutes (£2.50 return).

MNers can attend with their partner and children - please specify your group size on the sign up form.

You will need to make your own way to the event and attendance is strictly by invitation only!

After the event, we'd need you to please give your feedback on a thread on MN - and add a review in the MN days out section (here)

If you'd like to attend please add your details here and we will be in touch with selected MNers asap. NOTE: there will be a strict list of names and party size on the door.

All MNers who share their feedback of the Studio Tour and add a review will be entered into a prize draw where two lucky MNers will win a goody bag containing a Harry Potter wand, Fizzing Whizzbees, Peppermint Toads, Chocolate Frog and a packet of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans (worth £57.75).

Thanks and good luck!
MNHQ

@VoldysGoneMouldy

Was an utterly amazing day. Thank you MN and WB!

LOVED seeing all the little people and adults in costume. DS had an amazing day, my mum nearly cried when she saw the Hogwarts Express and I've never been to a more disabled friendly venue.

AnnMumsnet - do think I owe you an apology though for babbling. I was recovering from a non epileptic seizure and they do make me a bit odd, for lack of a better term. Sorry Blush

No problem: nice to meet you Smile

And I think towards the end everyone there was a MNer - I love meeting you all (or even just people watching!)

thanks for all the feedback: keep it coming! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sponsored_events/2598585-Warner-Bros-Studio-Tour-London-The-Making-of-Harry-Potter-review-thread-chances-to-win-goody-bags

I saw you checking in Show! I should have waved really but I was being kindly escorted to the medical room to hook DS's iv up.

Loads of excellent costumes. I chatted to a lovely lad in a red tshirt about wands in the shop as were my ds1&2.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 24/03/2016 17:19

AnnMumsnet is it possible to do anything for the MNer who missed it because her children were being separately interrogated by the police at the behest of their school? The children are aged 7 and under and it's shameful :(

I'd like to do something nice for them. I can send mine and dh's souvenir books (we haven't cracked the spines yet) and I also have some train vouchers they could use to get there. I can't afford to buy them all tickets or I would do that.

ThisUserNameIsAlreadyTaken · 24/03/2016 17:55

movingon
I was reading that thread earlier!

All of us were given the books, so I ended up with 6!
So I'm more than happy to send a couple on, and the same goes for butter beer mugs, we have 6 of those too.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 24/03/2016 18:00

It's bloody shameful what happened to them.

Cagliostro · 24/03/2016 18:08

OMG I saw part of that thread, I hadn't realised it was this event that she was referring to. Wow :(

ShowOfHands · 24/03/2016 18:22

Oh that poor ruddy woman. Hope something can be done.

Toucan, I think you must have been before us at the green screen. I was admiring your girlfriend's tattoos! Surreptitiously like!

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2016 18:34

What happened? that sounds awful?

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2016 18:38

I so wanted to ask people what their names were and tried to hazard a guess but i was too shy! DP kept mentioning mnet and i was shhhhh! Daft really. It felt a bit like being on a school trip Grin

It's a shame yes, but I don't think MNHQ are obliged to do anything about it really.

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2016 09:14

I don't think anybody is obliged to do anything no. I think as a gesture of goodwill however, Warner Bros might rearrange admission. They'll still have the tickets and know that one family couldn't make it.

Cagliostro · 25/03/2016 09:25

I agree, it would be nice if they could. I remember [whatever company it was] sending a little treat to a family who couldn't make it to one of the MN film screenings a few years back.

wannabestressfree · 25/03/2016 09:32

It wasn't just one though. We never made it as we were stuck in the traffic for over 5 hours. It was a nightmare. Am only just recovered..... and that's not a joke.

wannabestressfree · 25/03/2016 09:41

I haven't no. To be honest I was so upset and have two sons with asd who lost the plot completely I am not joking about the recovery thing..everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. Nightmare

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2016 09:45

It would be a gesture of goodwill to more than one family then Smile

The traffic was diabolical.

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2016 09:49

I can't even imagine how stressful that was wannabe. I have 2 NT children and it was double the anticipated journey and that was probably a walk in the park in comparison.

I'm not surprised you're shellshocked.

having just wannabes posts and the other thread i am also imploring mnhq and wb to at least make some gesture to these families. I cannot contribute financially sadly but we have two spare guidebooks that would happily donate.

ToucanPlay · 25/03/2016 10:17

Oh how awful :(

I don't see why families affected by the traffic couldn't go another day surely as they still have tickets waiting there.

Hope something can be sorted for you guys x

00100001 · 25/03/2016 10:37

OK, so were all agreed, next time MNHQ send us somewhere, they should also issue us little badges if some sort to identify ourselves to other MNErs, if we so wish?

Sort it out MNHQ Grin

RTKangaMummy · 25/03/2016 10:58

Just cut and pasted this from the Warner Bros website FAQ

Our tickets are non-refundable; however we can alter the date of your ticket(s) for a £10 administration fee. To do this, please call our Visitor Services Team on 0345 084 0900 and have your booking confirmation to hand. Please note that all date changes are subject to availability and must be made before the date of your visit.

Hopefully this will mean that the families that were unable to be part of the event will still have a chance to go either due to an awful experience with the school and the dreadful behaviour of the teacher and head teacher or the traffic jams around M25 plus surrounding area

RTKangaMummy · 25/03/2016 11:00

Actually didn't read it properly it says before the date of visit but MN and WB will know the families didn't arrive
