We have been asked by the team at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter to find around 75 MNers and their families to attend a special event for MNers at the Studio Tour (near Watford) to experience the attraction (and have a couple of extra treats) and to report back to the rest of MN.

They say "step on to authentic sets, discover the magic behind spellbinding special effects and explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Harry Potter™ film series. Tread the original stone floor of the iconic Hogwarts™ Great Hall, encounter animatronic creatures and wander down Diagon Alley™. Located at the Studios where all eight films were produced, the Studio Tour showcases the incredible British talent, imagination and artistry that went into making the impossible a reality on screen. Visitors will relive the magic through the eyes of the filmmakers who brought the Harry Potter film series to life".

We're looking for families to attend a tour of the studios where there will be some special treats for MN families - including a free souvenir guidebook, food during the tour (hot dog/goujons/mac and cheese per person from the Backlot Cafe), glass of wine/beer/soft drink and a Butterbeer taster! There will also be a chance to have a group photo in the flying car Smile.

This is a special event for MNers who love the Harry Potter films or even film making in general.

The tour is aimed at children aged 8+ but if you have younger children they can attend if you wish. It's accessible to all including buggies.

The event will take place
Near Watford North London
On Wednesday 23rd March
Arrival from 4pm (must arrive by 5pm) and the tour lasts around 3 hours. Note there may be some waiting around when you arrive due to being allocated the next available tour.

There is a free on-site car park, which is a short walk away from the entrance to the Studio Tour, with designated disabled parking. For those arriving by train, a shuttle bus runs to and from Watford Junction train station every 20 minutes (£2.50 return).

MNers can attend with their partner and children - please specify your group size on the sign up form.

You will need to make your own way to the event and attendance is strictly by invitation only!

After the event, we'd need you to please give your feedback on a thread on MN - and add a review in the MN days out section (here)

If you'd like to attend please add your details here and we will be in touch with selected MNers asap. NOTE: there will be a strict list of names and party size on the door.

All MNers who share their feedback of the Studio Tour and add a review will be entered into a prize draw where two lucky MNers will win a goody bag containing a Harry Potter wand, Fizzing Whizzbees, Peppermint Toads, Chocolate Frog and a packet of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans (worth £57.75).

Thanks and good luck!

Hello to all the MNers! We had a great time, but are exhausted now! Could have spent much long there (without the children Grin ). Will do the feedback thread tomorrow. Thank you WarnerBros & MN! It was excellent!!

Bumpinthenight · 23/03/2016 21:43

What a fantastic time we had! Loved it all!

Thank you so much Warner Brothers and Mumsnet for an amazing experience.

AmberNectarine · 23/03/2016 21:45

Yes, the boy in the Slytherin robes was lovely!

We had an amazing time - thank you so much MN and WB. My DS (6) and DD (4) just loved it and are now fast asleep clutching their wands (Harry Potter's and 'Mynee's' respectively).

DH was so impressed and kept saying 'I love MN' he won't when he reading my AIBU threads

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 23/03/2016 21:46

Lol I over heard several people say "we'll have a look online" just after the wands Grin Grin

It was brilliant. Really well run and they refused to take any money for a cheese sandwich for my fussy child and we'd aleady had four hot meals Blush The staff were all truly excellent.

If I had to find fault (and it's not a big deal at all because we didn't spend a penny there and my dh the kids LOVED it) it would be that we missed our car picture because there was nothing to say that part would be closing early and (if I'm really picky) washing out butter beer cups with cold water and then cramming them in my handbag wasn't ideal. But I'm sort of categorising those in "my wallet's too small for my fifties and my diamond shoes are too tight" levels of hardship Wink

I'll write a full review tomorrow. Thank you very much for choosing us. It's ds's birthday this week and it was a brilliant treat!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 23/03/2016 22:13

Sorry Sootica, they were free. But if they hadn't been I would've nicked them

That was COMPLETELY AMAZING! Thank you so much MN! I just can't keep the massive grin off my face :o

notagiraffe · 23/03/2016 22:40

That was fantastic. Thank you so much Ann, MN and Warner Bros. DS was smitten by it and wants to go back soon. We loved it. Proper review tomorrow. Just got home and utterly knackered. But wow.

Obs2016 · 24/03/2016 07:04

Yes it was fantastic. Thank you MN and Warner bros.
I saw quite a few of you, but was too shy to say anything, which is odd because I'm not normally shy.
But I did manage to say hello to the lady stood behind us, whose little daughter was dressed up brilliantly with cloak and Harry Potter glasses.
And I saw all the birthday people opened the door and blue haired ( impressive!).
Traffic home was very bad, but we git there.
Ds's said it was fantastic, but the hot dog was the best bit! Hmm

YY to the boy in the Slytherin robes - that was the lovely chap who talked to us! I got the impression that his mum thought he might be talking too much - but he was fab Smile

deepdarkwood · 24/03/2016 07:24

And a wave to (I think?) the mn-er with the little girl with glasses and robes who we met at the green tunnel photo op - another one who looked fab! It was lovely seeing so many dressed up Smile

ShowOfHands · 24/03/2016 10:25

I met the boy in the Slytherin robes too. By the Knight Bus! I don't know which one of you is responsible for him but well done. He was a lovely and very knowledgeable young man who chatted to my 4 year old and was kind and polite.

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2016 10:28

sootica - that was us! did you get your rightful picture back?

we also met a lovely grandma with a time turner that we compared to dd's.

such a fantastic day - thankyou mumsnet.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 24/03/2016 10:36

We saw the boy by the Knight Bus. He was kind and chatty to my slightly antisocial children who were secretly pleased he spoke to them. Even if only I and their dad could tell.

Was an utterly amazing day. Thank you MN and WB!

LOVED seeing all the little people and adults in costume. DS had an amazing day, my mum nearly cried when she saw the Hogwarts Express and I've never been to a more disabled friendly venue.

AnnMumsnet - do think I owe you an apology though for babbling. I was recovering from a non epileptic seizure and they do make me a bit odd, for lack of a better term. Sorry Blush

00100001 · 24/03/2016 14:39

I fell that next time there's an event we should all wear Mumsnet Badges with our username on them! Grin

fuzzpig · 24/03/2016 14:44

Ha, same! I talked to a couple of people I knew (from the circumstances) were MNers, but other than that I kept thinking, should I ask, or will I look like a muppet asking people if they're on Mumsnet :o

00100001 · 24/03/2016 15:10

Yeah, I was looking round thinking...."are you one of us?" but not wanting to look like a complete oddball.

But I did end up just randomly chatting to people, so might have been a MNers?

If you had a teenage boy on the Hogwarts Express who claimed dibs on everything, so much so that you disowned him then... Grin

ToucanPlay · 24/03/2016 16:25

Show of hands I saw you quite a few times! I was with my girlfriend and 2 boys. Had a green coat on and she had purple t shirt.

Also saw blue haired daughter and family with orange haired Ron!

Wish I read this before so I could have said hi!

ThisUserNameIsAlreadyTaken · 24/03/2016 17:00

00100001, that was my disowned teenager....Blush Blush
