Help needed to create a Mumsnet Ocado 'bundle' offer (and a chance to win £75)

GeraldineMumsnet · 06/08/2008 11:44

Hi all

You may recall the recent Ocado survey where we asked folks to tell us about their lives in the first few weeks post birth. Using your responses, Ocado is designing a Mumsnet-inspired (and discounted) bundle of products that are perfect to have at home before delivery day comes.

The people at Ocado don't want to assume what your fave brands are, so we need you to nominate them. The brands with the most votes will get included in the final bundle to be sold on www.ocado.com.

We would like to reflect the products you chose in two bundles, one for essentials and the other for luxuries.

Everyone who takes part in this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win £75 to spend at www.ocado.com

Thanks and good luck.

I think this is a really good idea - below are my suggestions..........

Essential products:

  • Nappies - newborn from the baby naturecare range - disposable, but biodegradable
  • Dummy - this is NOT an essential item, maybe replace this and the colic rememdy with a natural sponge for using in the bath??
  • Colic remedy - see above
  • Nappy cream - Sudocrem has always been a winner in our house
  • Baby bath - Halos and Horns
  • Baby shampoo - Halos and Horns
  • Talcum powder - NOT an essential item nowdays, why not replace with a baby massage oil....
  • Cotton wool - any brand
  • Baby wipes - I LOVE waitrose own wipes. They are also degradable which is a bonus
  • Nappy sacks - any, I use Ocado carrier bags
  • Breast pads - avent
  • Cake - got to be chocolate
  • Biscuits - Duchys - any as all lovely

Luxury products:

  • Magazine - Junior Magazine or any trashy one such as Hello or OK
  • Chocolate - Green and Blacks
  • Sweets - traditional sucky ones such as Rhubarb and Custard
  • Hot drink - Luxury Hot Chocolate
  • Cold drink - Bottlegreen cordial
  • Bubble bath - UMI range
  • Hand cream - Clarins/Aveda

Essential products:

  • Nappies - Pampers
  • Dummy - Not an essential
  • Colic remedy - Also not an essential but I found infacol to be mildly helpful as a distraction for the baby if nothing else
  • Nappy cream - Sudocrem
  • Baby bath - Johnsons night time lavender stuff (You don't need this either but it smells soothing for mum and dad)
  • Baby shampoo - Newborn babies don't need shampoo - they have practically no hair!!
  • Talcum powder - No - not unless you want to cover your baby, your self and your bathroom in fine, white, irritating dust...
  • Cotton wool - own brand from whereever you are shopping
  • Baby wipes - Pampers sensitive
  • Nappy sacks - natural baby
  • Breast pads - Tommee Tippee
  • Cake - Fondant fancies - can be eaten one handed whilst breast feeding
  • Biscuits - Animal biscuits

Luxury products:

  • Magazine - Junior pregnancy and baby (dh calls it 'Posh Parent'
  • Chocolate - lots of Green and Blacks
  • Sweets - yo don't need sweets and chocolate
  • Hot drink - tea - gallons of breakfast tea
  • Cold drink - tap water
  • Bubble bath - just use the baby's stuff
  • Hand cream - no idea

does no-one else hate "bundles"? You can never get it right for everyone so there's always something pointless in them. Or maybe it's just me that's a fussy arse.
