An elderly lady who'd been a model and dancer in the 1940s told me once to:

Drink water, sleep enough and walk tall.

I would love any Delilah product but likely would opt for liquid illuminator.

I always use serum and moisturiser before applying make up, my make up sits better on my skin, I don't get spots and I'm getting less fine lines than my peers. Worth every penny :)

DorotheaDiamond · 05/03/2025 14:56

Don’t do too much to your skin!!!

loving the lipsticks and eye stick collection!

sharond101 · 05/03/2025 19:10

Collagen capsules and green tea!

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 06/03/2025 05:53

I was recommended a Delilah product. I’ve used it for the first time and love it. It’s a natural style foundation. Some foundations are noticeable in wrinkles/ lines but this one applies beautifully. I’d definitely buy it again.

Best beauty tip I was given was to make ice cubes out of rice water. Then pop into a muslin bag and rub over your clean skin. Leave for 10 minutes then moisturise as normal. Alternatively just use the rice water as a toner.

And I would definitely get a lovely new lipgloss

That a smile is a thousand times better than any chemical muck smeared over your face.

It is one of the wisest and most truthful things I have ever heard. Thank you Auntie Jean.

An oil based cleanser is amazing at removing makeup and spf. 🫶 Then follow with a water based cleanser to really clean the skin.
If I won a voucher, I'd like to try the Wake up Radiant skin tint. 😊

Tip: best face moisturisers are the body creams for atopic skin. I use Avene XeraCalm Creme ( not Balm, as balm is too heavy).
Its my own tip as I discovered it by chance.
I use it overnight mostly o very thinly for day, dilute with water for day wear - as its quite heavy.
I also use it as make up remover- also mix in your palm with a bit of water.

My beautician friend was suprised how good my skin is, she checked moisture and it was perfect. She swears by using expensieve creams- but I dont believe in it Lol.
The body creams are around £18 for 200ml and it lasts ages as its dense and you use only a little bit!
Also Avene has a special dispenser that prevents bacteria getting in and contaminating cream.
Hope its helpful to someone!

Always wear sunscreen and sunglasses and easier said than done but get plenty of good quality sleep most nights.

Topbird29 · 07/03/2025 09:05

I use a taupe or aubergine eyeliner and brown mascara - try to aim for a natural look.
If I were to win on the draw, I'd like to try a light foundation or tinted moisturiser.

CheshireCat1 · 07/03/2025 09:24

Wrinkles caused by smiling look better than ones caused by frowning.
Factor 50 all year round and don’t forget the back of hands.
I’d probably choose the nude lip collection

As a teenager, my sister took me to a beauty counter where I was given a lecture on the importance of properly cleaning and moisterising my skin every night. I am now nearly 50 and I can count on one hhand the number of times I have NOT cleaned my face properly before bed - I was somewhat famous at university and in my early 20s because I could come home drunk from a night out and would STILL take 5 minutes to clean my face.

I think my skin has really really benefited as a result. I've never suffered from build up of oils or dirt or whatever.

A more recent make up tip was the realisation (thanks tiktok) that my blusher wasn't working anymore because I was still applying it like I was a dewy 20-something! But gravity is NOT my friend any more - thanks Erika Taylor and friends. Since I switched to using my blusher higher up and no longer on the "apple" I look a lot better!

Oh, and I'd like to try the bronzer - I really need a good cream bronzer and I haven't found one yet. I like the bronzer/illuminator combination. I'm also in the market for a good lip pencil in a pinky/neutral colour. And I ALWAYS love a eye shadow stick, a bit of sparkle makes it even better! Grin

TaggieO · 07/03/2025 11:38

You need a different shade of foundation in summer and in winter

Sleepybumble · 07/03/2025 12:01

Using a deep plum bronze eyeliner to tight line on blue eyes. I love how it makes my eye colour pop.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/03/2025 19:56

I have two tips.

My first tip is that, whatever routine you have, it needs to be done regularly rather than hit and miss. No matter how good or expensive your skincare is, it will not work if you don't use it regularly. Many years ago Richard and Judy had a feature on skincare and an elderly lady rang in and said her skin was wonderful for her age because she had used cold cream every day since being a girl. Sadly I am not good at this...
My second tip is to move with the times. There is nothing more ageing than doing makeup in a dated way or using products that no longer suit your skin as it ages

hotcrossbun99 · 07/03/2025 20:01

Whatever products you put on your face, put on your neck. I would also add to put on your chest too.

MaryGreenhill · 07/03/2025 20:08

Stay out of the sun

Dizzywizz · 08/03/2025 05:58

Primer! I remember starting to use it before it was everywhere, and it’s such a game changer!!

wake up eye protector sounds exactly what I need! (Not sleeping well, been awake since 4.30 🤦🏻‍♀️)

stayathomer · 08/03/2025 06:01

use an spf every day no matter what!

Runningshorts · 08/03/2025 06:21

Moisturise every day, and start using an anti-ageing cream at a younger age than you'd think.

JumpingPumpkin · 08/03/2025 06:55

Wear clothes that make you smile.

WeeSassenach · 08/03/2025 07:23

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! It's amazing how simply drinking enough much water can help our skin look it's best. Drink as much as you can throughout the day, and always moisturise. I use Nivea Q10 day and night cream religiously.

I would love to try the eye shadow collection, Stay the day- Rose edition.

Callingallbutterflies · 08/03/2025 08:48

That you don't need shaving cream or gel for legs and underarms just use hair conditioner. Something you have anyway. The wake up skin tint looks great.

possumtea · 08/03/2025 09:06

This is my own tip but the world needs to know - Tea tree oil kills the overgrowth of demodex mites that cause (some) rosecea.

I put the creams the GP prescribed to one side snd started using a few drops of tea tree on a wet cotton pad. Swipe it over my face, leave to dry naturally then moisturise as normal (using unfragranced moisturiser)

Within two weeks my rosecea was gone.
I only ever use baby wash as a face wash now to maintain, if I feel redness I go back in with the tea tree for a night or two. Always clean my face twice a day or the demodex mites take over again.

Life changing
(Also worked for blepharitis!)
