Comfort above all. I seems to bend down 10 million times per day and spend hours on my knees so skinny jeans are no longer comfortable or they become loose and baggy. Leggings are the way to go.

DenDenDenise · 15/11/2024 11:55

My old pre-baby wardrobe was put on hold - it was comfort, being able to dress quickly, walk around the home and wash and dry with minimal/no ironing
love a pair of slip on's - leggings and a long blouse and scarf to make be feel comfy and presentable.

HobNobAddict · 16/11/2024 09:42

For me it was changing from my 'corporate' work clothes to my mum wardrobe, casual, jeggings and leggings, and long sweatshirts and trainers. I want something in between, I want to feel smart, not sloppy clothes - but often don't have the energy to do this - comfort all the way for me for the forseeable.

DanBenandBud · 16/11/2024 14:29

It matters to feel me again, I was enormous and wanted to feel like a woman - and be active and be able to eat without heartburn. I wanted to get back to a level of fitness I needed to be a busy mum - so activewear and good supporting shoes was a must in the hectic days of nursing a newborn, and running a home.

Iamthemoom · 16/11/2024 14:39

I try to still look stylish and put together but my priority post baby is definitely comfort! Everything I wear has stretch! I still wear skinny jeans sometimes but they're super soft stretchy leggings with plenty of support! Or stretchy waisted wide legs in a dark denim colour. And the most comfy trainers always but I find stylish fun ones like Skechers uno metallixs in gold. In fact I wouldn't say no to another pair!

youareonlyhereonce · 16/11/2024 16:34

As a new mum, you are up and down stairs, if you are a second time mum, it's twice the steps, so your feet take a pounding - so my beloved slip on sketchers are my feets best friend, clothes have to be stretchy and comfy, with a bit of colour - and easy to wash and quick to dry.

haje · 16/11/2024 16:43

Comfort and softness for me strangely. BF left my skin almost sore and sensitive. I like a soft bra top, long vests, soft waist leggings and Skechers. Interesting I picked up a cheaper version and ended up with terrible foot pain,, could be a coincidence.

Warm winter coat, decent wellies.

I was previously suits, heels, full make up.

I don't think I could walk in heels now.

Everything now about being practical and cosy, previously was smart and professional.

Britanniaa · 17/11/2024 10:43

I used to care what I looked like - fitted clothing and nice underwear, now happily I am in sweaty betty leggings (they pull in the tummy the best lol) and layers of t shirts and bottom pastel jumpers on top- I am a convert to crocs and sketchers - it's comfort and convenience all the way.

prawncocktailcrispss · 17/11/2024 17:26

I must say hand free slip ons do sound like a 'step' in the right direction for me - with a baby in a sling, and a toddler, they sound like a perfect solution for slipping off my slippers and slipping on my sketchers. I live in jeggings and elasticated waist skirts and blouses, and scrunchies to keep my hair back and out of the way.

ToriTheStoryteller · 17/11/2024 17:54

I completely lost my way style-wise and fell into a trap of buying patterned items all the time, thinking they made my outfits more interesting. Two years ago I realised I had more than 40 patterned tops but no plain basics or neutrals. Frankly, I looked horrendous every single day.

Two years into my wardrobe revival, I finally look like I give a shit about clothes again....DS is 12.🤣

ButterOllocks · 18/11/2024 10:06

My style changed to 2 sizes bigger, a chest which I had never had before, and just wanting to wear clothes with elastic and trainers - I have lace-ups and have seen adverts for the hands free slip ons - they look fabulous - something I could never justify buying for myself now money is tight.

JacCharlton · 18/11/2024 11:19

My new mum wardrobe changed due to my body confidence being dented after my size 10 body seems to have disappeared as a distant memory. I wear jeggings (like them better than leggings) and crocs - love the slip on sketchers - with the support you have from being on your feet, and walking miles to get the fresh air and walks my cluttered mind needs would be invaluable during this time. Thanks Mumsnet - another great giveaway.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 18/11/2024 11:29

I went much more practical when I had young children, although I stuck with plain rather than patterned clothes as I'd always preferred so I didn't really lose my style. Sitting on the floor a lot of the time, going out walking with the pram in all weathers just to have something to do outside of the house, needing layers to use as cover-ups when breastfeeding...

I stopped wearing very flat shoes when I had children because I developed achilles tendinitis. I needed something with some bounce underfoot and a raised heel, which it looks like these Skechers have.

yorktown · 18/11/2024 11:33

I've always dressed for comfort rather than style apart from evenings out, etc.
Evenings out reduced in frequency in the early days so my wardrobe became more and more for comfort.
I value comfortable shoes above all else, both around the town and on country walks with pram or sling/backback.
Kids bit older now but comfort still wins for day to day wear.

TheKatzKlaws · 18/11/2024 11:50

Comfort and practicality are most important, particularly as I am having to adjust to a new body shape and still struggling with things like bending, putting shoes on, lifting things, walking long distances.

Slip on trainers/shoes are a life saver. Paired with leggings or comfy loose trousers and oversized jumpers work best for me and make me feel more confident.

Love Skechers Slip-ins Mark Nason: A Wedge - Crecent (taupe). Easy to put on but stylish!

Ilostmyhalo · 18/11/2024 12:05

I seem to be morphing into a frumpy mummy rather than yummy mummy :( hair up, not keeping up with the highlights, uggs and crocs and jeans, and a t shirt with a vomit stain always on one shoulder.
I need to get my spark back, get out, walk more - step in sketchers would give me the kick up the behind I need to start my yummy mummy fitness journey.

jacqui5366 · 18/11/2024 13:48

Be kind to my feet - if your feet are comfy you can do anything - nothing worse than sore or cold feet - so from being a new mum, thick socks (ones with the grips underneath) comfy joggers, and hoodies - trying to have that ready for the gym look 😅 particulary when out walking with the stroller. A pair of sketchers would be a real treat for my feet 👣

VelvetThunder · 18/11/2024 13:58

Comfort! As my tummy is no longer flat, but instead slightly rounded still, then no jeans seem to sit comfortably or look nice. Although many people seem to hate the look, workout leggings are the winner!
They're so comfortable and also, have pockets which I love. I also wear slightly baggier tops instead of anything fitted as they're much more comfortable and I'm conscious of my tummy.

Freshair87 · 18/11/2024 15:52

Post baby I just opted for comfort and flattering clothes, now I'm feeling a bit less overwhelmed with life and have managed to lose the baby weight I still go comfort as always on the move but more stylish sportswear. Still trying to work out what my style is now I've lost weight but don't feel comfortable in my pre baby clothes either!

Romeony · 18/11/2024 16:04

Well my shape changed, not necessarily because of weight gain but also/more because of stomach muscles taking a battering! So that affected what I choose to wear. I do lot more bending down, stretching up, and similar, now. I now use fingerless gloves with removable mittens, because when out and about I was always having to remove a glove to do something for a child - and this way I get to keep most of my gloves on. Being able to get shoes on and off without bending down has also become a priority (have to admit that the newest sketchers 'slip-ins' have been great for that).

Justleaveitblankthen · 18/11/2024 16:16

Yes, absolutely.

I live in cosy cords in dark colours, especially plum or burgundy. Black or brown sweatshirts that wash well and can be easily slipped over my head during busy, heated moments. Additional thermal long sleeved body warmer with durable fur lined boots for winter walks👶🙂

SkylarH · 18/11/2024 16:22

I've had to adjust for breastfeeding on the go.

This means lots of zip/button tops and no thick jumpers.

I definitely care less about outfits but still want to look nice!

KeepinOn · 18/11/2024 16:22

Comfort is really important - I'm on my feet all the time, running after them, getting snacks/drinks/toys/coats/etc. They always need me for something! I have a long torso, so in the winter I tend to wear a long-bodied vest top under my normal clothes to keep my back/belly covered when bending down.

I've reverted to my teenaged uniform of jeans, t-shirts, and hoodies with trainers in the summer and boots in the winter - I don't have time to create a styled outfit, I need clothes that I know look presentable and again, are comfortable. If I'm trying to look smarter than usual I'll trade the hoodie for a blazer and go for clean white trainers or loafers. That'll do me fine!

Kaleidoscopic101 · 18/11/2024 16:29

Practicality and comfort. I rarely wear skirts or dresses anymore because of the amount of bending over!

jacqui5366 · 18/11/2024 17:00

My 'new' way of dressing is joggers and sportswear - love the comfort of lycra and not having the pressure of going into the office in a new outfit everyday.
Love my lace up sketchers and would LOVE ths slip on ones for practicality and comfort .
