My style changed from smart casual , to wholly casual, with joggers and trainers with sports tops - all which can be washed and non ironed. Love being comfy when I am active most of the day (some days I am in my pyjamas all day as they are the comfiest)

WatchOutForBabyHaggis · 26/11/2024 09:42

Ha! My style pretty much changed to 'Oh well, at least I've washed my hair' 😂

benjaminjamesandgraham · 26/11/2024 09:50

My style has changed from smart casual to simply practical and comfy - which these slip-ons from sketchers are - and being on my feet for hours a day and going up the staircase many times -- yes please !

littlecottonbud · 27/11/2024 12:00

My style has changed from being 'dressy' to 'frumpy' because of the change in my body shape, I wear trainers, jeans, leggings- anything elasticated and comfy really. Walking/running in sketchers would help be get back into shape.

Dizzywizz · 28/11/2024 11:42

I definitely need to wear more things with pockets!! I love these www.skechers.co.uk/skechers-slip-ins-summits---dazzling-haze/149937W_ROS.html

itsywitsy · 28/11/2024 12:50

For my it's now practical rather than pretty, stretch fit rather than fitted and trainers from kitten heals.
Happy in my jeggings and trainers !

violentknight · 29/11/2024 19:06

Comfort above everything. Feeling good, I have found has the knock-on effect of looking happier, therefore good! Deciding never to wear high shoes again was a game changer and breast feeding led to discovering the convenience of front fastening bras! Comfy leggings mean I can go walking, cycling etc at the drop of a hat and cotton jersey/lycra wash easily with no ironing🙂

ladyluck13 · 29/11/2024 19:55

I'm more interested in what's comfortable and practical now, rather than what's fashionable (although occasionally they do combine 😆). Trainers and comfy leggings/jumpers are where its at for this mum

TwinsAndToddlerLife · 29/11/2024 20:20

After two pregnancies in 3 years, and one of which was twins, my body has completely changed and I have no idea what suits me or what to wear anymore. So I always opt for comfort and practicality, with oversized t-shirts/jumpers, a pair of jeggings or jeans and a pair of trainers. As long as I can run around after three little ones and push the pram for our daily walks, I’m doing ok. I have no idea how other mums manage to look so stylish and well put together!

These Skechers look super comfy AND stylish for when I’m getting my steps in … www.skechers.co.uk/skechers-slip-ins-snoop-one---boss-life-canvas/186000.html

Having a baby completely transformed my style—practicality is now the name of the game. Pre-baby, I loved experimenting with prints, heels, and fitted outfits. But after becoming a mum, I quickly realized that style had to meet functionality. Between the spit-ups, quick nappy changes, and constant bending to pick up toys (or a wriggly toddler), my old wardrobe felt like it belonged to another person.

Comfort became my priority, but I didn’t want to lose that sense of feeling “put together.” My solution has been a capsule wardrobe staples like high-waisted leggings, oversized but stylish shirts that double as nursing-friendly options, and slip-on shoes, because anything hands-free is a blessing.

Adapting my style was a challenge at first, but it taught me to prioritize myself in small, meaningful ways—whether it’s finding clothes that flatter my new shape or shoes that keep up with my hectic life while still looking great. Now, my style is a mix of functional and chic—a reminder that being a mum doesn’t mean losing yourself, but embracing a new version of you.

If I won, I’d love the Skechers slip-ins ultra flex in black because they’re practical, versatile, and stylish enough to make me feel like I’ve got it all together (even when I haven’t!).

IgoogledYOLO · 29/11/2024 21:05

When my two were newborns, having footwear that I could slip on with no hands was a must. I'd not be able to put the baby down so the leisure activity that was tying a lace or pulling a zip was no more!

JacCharlton · 30/11/2024 08:12

As a mum - having one less thing to think about when going out for the day - no buckles or laces - and knowing my feet will not ache as much would make a long tiring day less so.

Itstoughbeingamom · 30/11/2024 12:24

As a new mum, everything changes. I always wanted to put my and my childs safety first when walking out and about. So I moved to sneakers pretty quickly as they can go with most outfits and also are easy to get in and out of. No compromise on style and convenience.

pushchairprincess · 30/11/2024 14:12

Since having a baby, I will wear button blouses, layers, cardigans, elasticated waist trousers and skirts and shapewear for the mumtum.

Newname101 · 30/11/2024 14:16

I've got twins so when they were little I had to be in jeans/ tshirt combination as I usually had one hanging off a leg while I held the other. Also over the shoulder side handbag so both hands were permanently free. I've always worn sketchers as they look good but I can sprint after a toddler without worrying.

housekermit · 30/11/2024 19:40

I’ve spent money treating myself to clothes in new sizes, prioritising those that are flattering but comfortable, and not feeling bad about buying multiple colours/types of things I find comfortable. It’s taken a while for me to adjust to my post-partum body and I’ve accepted that the clothes I never fitted in before need to be sold or given to charity and I’m happier for it!

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/11/2024 19:53

@MNHQ you need to amend the thread title to specify that this is a thread for "new mums" only.

wellingtonsandwaffles · 30/11/2024 23:30

I wear darker clothes to avoid stains being too noticeable. My skirts are much longer, I need to be able to bend down. I wear a lot of leggings and trainers when I need to get out the door quick.

AllBranEater · 01/12/2024 16:39

I had to change to more forgiving clothes due to the inevitable change in body shape.

Sunbeam01 · 05/12/2024 18:54

I now have a capsule wardrobe, most items are from Cos. Simple, clean lines.

Polished gel nails, microbladed eyebrows and blusher.

I would never consider wearing Sketchers. Not even if they are free.

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 05/12/2024 18:57

Comfort over style!
Which for me means baggier jumpers/ tops (when I used to wear more fitted) and flatter shoes (more trainers!).
Of course I still like to look good but just have less time and inclination to think about fashion.

CordeliaScott · 07/12/2024 09:12

I'm never giving up my heels although my clothing is a lot more focused on practical and comfort than it used to be

VeryStressedMum · 07/12/2024 09:50

I had 2 babies in under a year and I was shocked at how my body looked. I had no idea what to wear cor this new body as I was always relatively slim and active and could wear most things without much thought.
I had no time to think about myself or what I looked like and lived in baggy t shirts and tracksuits which wasn't the best look but when you're just trying to survive the day it's not a priority.
I wish I had made it more of a priority as I might have felt better about myself.
I'm still trying to work out what suits me and what my style is but I'm getting better at it.
I love the arch fit S - Miles Mile Makers because they look nice and I need the arch support as I have hypermobility which causes flat feet and collapsed arches.

sickandtiredofitallnow · 07/12/2024 10:06

Gone are the fitted clothes, now floaty tops cover a less than perfect figure.

Shoes wise, no Skechers for me - they stop at size 8 and I, like tens of thousands of other women are a size 9.

Get with the times Skechers!!

HouseholdBubblesandEeeeek · 08/12/2024 21:31

Comfort became top priority and tops that allowed me breastfeed my daughter when she was a baby. Clothes with pockets also very useful!
