I love my trainers and leggings and oversize t shirts - no more fitted clothing until I get the energy to exercise and loose baby weight.

ohdannyboy · 12/12/2024 13:46

My style has changed from skirts and shoes - to trainers and anything stretchy and easy to move in.

TeamMandrake · 12/12/2024 14:09

I think that I focus more on coat and shoes - as even if I'm a state underneath, a good coat and shoes makes everything seem better. I'm less likely to experiment now, and wear a bit of a uniform of jeans & jumper.

I do like sketchers, as I have bad heel pain, and they are so comfortable. Currently like the look of these:

But these are a close second:

I've been wearing Skechers for years.
First it was annoying continually having to bend down to tie my shoes, now that I'm in my 60s--I'm not as flexible!! So yeah, slip-ons....😊

hardarara · 12/12/2024 14:27

Definitely comfort and practicality above all else. Simple shapes and styles, simple colours. I tend to have a capsule wardrobe consisting of mostly plain tops and trousers / skirts that can be interchanged. Plus thermals, lots of thermals in winter! Layers, one smart coat, one rough and ready outdoor coat. Trainers (generally) that are easy to put on and take off. Things that wash easily. Nice, natural fabrics (hate crappy acrylic and nylon and avoid like the plague). Something warm and easy to put on - big baggy jumpers and tops for breastfeeding.

SnappyCritic · 12/12/2024 14:35

No need to get me involved in the give-away. If I won, my husband would have a fit, as he wants to provide!! (BesidesI'm from the USA)
I just wanted to throw out/give my opinion.
Oh! I'm really happy that I can use my saved maternity shirts again, as they are in style. Yay!

ForeverAlone3 · 12/12/2024 15:19

My style hasn't changed much. I still like to glam up but I'm a bit more careful about footwear. It has to be super comfy so I can run around my little one 😁

Kat256M · 12/12/2024 15:28

Comfort all the way...so much has changed over the years! I value good, comfy shoes a lot more than I used to but extra bonus if they look nice too.

I love trainers like the one in the pic in the OP, they make me feel more put together. Something like this in a mauve/navy/black probably: www.skechers.co.uk/skechers-slip-ins-ultra-flex-3.0---brilliant/149710_MVE.html

Scirocco · 12/12/2024 16:19

I've spent two years where the main questions asked about clothes have been "How easy will it be to breastfeed in this?" and "How will it hold up to mess and washing?". Still wear a lot of black, but less jewellery these days. The main style change has been my hair - I used to dye it but just don't have the time now, so now it's back to its natural colour.

FartingAgainstThunder · 12/12/2024 16:22

Comfort above all, Style a close second though.
So I try and get comfy clothes in lovely fabrics (that don't need dry cleaning) and that all the colours 'go' with each other.
Pre-children I didn't own one single pair of trainers, Now it's all that is in my wardrobe.
I borrowed a pair of my friends Skechers and as they were so comfy I bought a pair that were supposed to be just for walking the dog.
They're my go to if I'm going to be on my feet for a significant amount of time and they are what I chose to wear to the eras tour earlier this year, Don't think I'd have made it through all the walking/dancing without them.

SnappyCritic · 12/12/2024 19:17

Same here, except I'm no longer running after little ones. (I'm an empty nester)

I also get perms. (I like the curl but don't want to have to curl it everyday!)

avaritablevampire · 12/12/2024 20:55

Weeeellll, I didn't have any style before the kids came along; so on that front nothing changed! But something weird happened to my feet during pregnancy, they shrunk in length but grew in width, so I'm already a sketchers fanGrin

SnappyCritic · 13/12/2024 02:41

My shoe size changed too! 😊

Babaa · 13/12/2024 10:19

I have a summer baby so I wore flowy dresses and trainers post partum. I very quickly returned to my pre baby size so just wore whatever I wanted. I always wear comfy trainers or comfy boots. I put the heels away! Would love a comfy pair of Skechers.

DinkyDaffodil · 13/12/2024 12:04

My style has changed but slightly - I still like to wear clothes for work which give me confidence - but on my days off with the children - will wear what I am happiest in now - trainers and leggings - and for the school run too - comfy all the way - love the slip on sketchers - seen the adverts on TV they look super comfy.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 13/12/2024 12:14

Oh the mum tum! So depressing. Especially when there's all these lovely wide leg trousers and cropped tops out there. So the reality is now it's tunics and skinny jeans ("normal" jeans don't fit with a blobby belly). Or dresses, I wear a lot of those. But I used to love tailored clothes and they're out the window!

Then it's about clothes that can be washed easily and quickly. No more silk shirts or cashmere jumpers - I risked a cashmere jumper the other day and got a yogurty face smushed into my boob as I was given an impromptu cuddle!

When DD was little everyone said about the washing with a new baby, but they omitted to say I'd be washing all my clothes too! I'm so envious of those mums with a muslin on their shoulder breezing through burping the baby and their cashmere stays ok!

Then there's the shoes. You need flat and can go with jeggings as I'm often on the ground helping with puzzle pieces or whatever! More and more I just wear trainers, easy on, easy off and comfy. Especially chasing running toddlers down the road!

I do remember make up existing (my daughter is 2 now) but it rarely goes on now! Who has time to pencil eye brows when you have to read Julia Donaldson again? And as for nails!!!

Basically my style has become "mum style" but I wouldn't have it any other way as yogurty smushy cuddles make up for it!

Gorondola · 13/12/2024 12:19

Comfort, comfort, comfort! Trainers for nearly every occasion, I cannot fathom how I was ever able to wear any heals!

SnappyCritic · 13/12/2024 13:58

What are "trainers"?

JacCharlton · 13/12/2024 14:52

From chic to casual - and I am happy with that ! - put me in a pair of jeans trainers and a baggy top and I am fine - do miss my pre baby clothes which I cannot fit into

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 13/12/2024 16:38

SnappyCritic · 13/12/2024 13:58

What are "trainers"?

Excellent question, and so difficult to find out.

Bookwormmama · 13/12/2024 20:19

It hasn’t changed. I dressed like a soccer mum before and I dress like a soccer mum now.

Itsgottobeme · 14/12/2024 15:05

I have far too.many sketchers in my basket. Sadly the budget doesn't run to new shoes for me right now. Idarent even think of the possibility of winning one, lol. Hurt too much!!
Comfort is key.and also the reminder of how you want this new human to see you navigate your clothes and self one day. And it's a huge reminder that we are born with these negativities. We aren't born questioning our body or what it shouldn't wear. We learn that. We learn that all. And I never want to contribute to thst for the little ones.
But it's.a good thing that my go to is comfort
I'm not a glam girl. I'd be in pjs all day if I could.
But I do love the soft cottons and jersey numbers maternity wear has! That soft touch and seamless is staying put.
Footwear has to be comfortable. And easy to slip on and off with no hands.

lillypopdaisyduke · 17/12/2024 11:26

SInce being a mum, I stop the skinny jeans and fitted dresses - I am happy in leggings and trainers - I must say a pair of slip on sketchers is good value compared to the addidas I am currently wearing - love to switch up to a pair !

ButterOllocks · 17/12/2024 13:35

My style has not changed that much TBH - was glad to get back into my old clothes again after being heavily pregnant. I do have more casual stuff for my days off work and going for walks with the pram - then it's trainers and leggings - comfort sometimes is best.
