This activity is now closed.

Whether it’s exploring the great outdoors, cozying up for a movie night, or indulging in a shared hobby, engaging in activities as a family can create precious memories and strengthen the bond between loved ones. We want to know about the activities that bring joy to your entire family.

  • Post your activities/stories in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw
  • One lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice.
Here’s what Immersive Gamebox has to say: “Our new immersive PAW Patrol experience is designed to be a fun activity for children and parents alike, with the ability to adjust the level of difficulty depending on the ages of the players. The experience promotes teamwork and includes educational elements that are integrated in an engaging way with the mission to make screen time social.”

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Sadly we have very little family life as our daughter has a lot of mental health issues & hence very challenging behaviour - the only connection I really have with her is music or watching funny you tube videos.

bunanarama · 02/08/2023 20:21

We love playing games like uno and dobble together!

Wobblyheart · 02/08/2023 23:51

2p machines and arcades at the country side, retro arcades and movies are our favourite for all ages. We also have fun baking tasty treats and playing board games, which always brings smiles to our faces. Lego is another favourite pastime. And occasionally, we indulge in video games for some light-hearted fun.

Beach11 · 03/08/2023 13:15

Family trips to the beach. Jumping in the waves, collecting shell, sea glass and building sand castles.
Even on a rainy day in the summer we will do this 😊

JuneOsborne · 03/08/2023 20:35

We love loads of different things.

We're happiest looking for the kookier end of the scale though. We recently went curling.

But we're as happy at the cinema, or at a national trust type place.

We also love a family games night. From Wentworth jigsaws to Nintendo switch with a quiz in between, this looks like something we'd totally check out!

ellesbellesxxx · 04/08/2023 06:05

Going to the park, playing cricket or tennis in the garden, cuddling up and reading together and board games def the top activities here.

Ragwort · 04/08/2023 07:31

Board games had to be the best as a family 'bonding' activity for us, our DS is 22 now and although we enjoyed a board game (or cards) every night during lockdown - he came back from Uni - the novelty has rather worn off now, I suggested one the other night and got an evil stare!

We have also enjoyed supporting his sport, both DH and I going to watch and getting involved with the support.
I've never managed a family movie night though, I am bored senseless watching a children's film although DH was better than I was, as our DS got older we managed to choose the occasional film together.

With a 5 year age gap between my 2 children there are still a lot of things we like doing together as a family-

Football- playing, watching- the children are obsessed!
Board games
Bowling
Cooking
Gaming
Trips out doing things - walks, museums, theatre, the beach etc

sleep15783 · 04/08/2023 14:52

We love going for little cheap mini breaks to different places in the UK doing the different children activities in different areas. We also love our summer evenings out when it’s been a hot day we wait until it cools then go somewhere like strawberry picking or go the beach.

itsawildwildworld · 05/08/2023 09:57

Swimming in the rain! My teens love this. There is usually no-one else around and you can do whatever you like without being crowded out by other people. The last holiday we had was a few years ago, but the bit they still talk about was going out in the torrential rain!!

jacqui5366 · 05/08/2023 11:29

Watching game shows - especially the quizzes with general knowledge, we love going to the allotment, weeding, planting and best bit - harvesting.

LittleDeeAndME · 05/08/2023 11:32

We love going to an airport and plane spotting all day - there are regular visitors and a lovely crowd of all ages - a note book, camera and a picnic - we have seen planes from all over the world which we use a map on the dining room wall to stick markers in.

Montydoo · 05/08/2023 11:39

A picnic - anywhere - by the beach, somewhere pretty, a national park - or even in the living room - getting the picnic blanket out on the floor with a fun dvd in the background

CreeperBoom · 05/08/2023 11:43

We love swimming, though the nearest fun pool to me is now a few hours away, after pool closures.

We also love playing games, either board games or party games/mario kart on a console. We play the switch, but also still have a Wii as the games are much better. Favourite board game is One Night Superheros.

Our absolute favourite thing is a day out to a theme park, but that is rare.

ohdannyboy · 05/08/2023 13:20

Going to the aquarium, cinema, and the summer 40's weekends ! we love to dress up 40's style

HobNobAddict · 05/08/2023 13:27

We love playing tennis together in summer and indoor and ten pin bowling in the winter months

LimeCheesecake · 05/08/2023 13:31

We are about to hit strictly season - pjs on before it starts for everyone, snack plates (the week I offered a fruit platter instead of chocolate and crisps was not a good week), being terribly judgemental about everyone’s performance.

also boringly, dog walks in woods, everyone seems to enjoy it in our family.

littlecottonbud · 05/08/2023 16:08

As a family we enjoy trivial pursuit, monopoly, and cludedo.
Also when it's nice just packing the car and going camping - anywhere with lots of greenery, a good camp shop and a river to paddle in.

Yvonne822 · 05/08/2023 17:14

We love an adventurous trip to somewhere that offers toddler friendly entertainment - so places like peppa pig land and Discovery centre are perfect!

sarat1 · 05/08/2023 20:27

I am increasingly taking my son's lead (5 yrs old) as to what we do, though of course I do my own research first and give him options/choices to help decide. We enjoy a range of in home things like self-directed play, and adult led, as well as days out

Winter2020 · 05/08/2023 20:36

We live swimming as our children - different ages and different needs- can have fun as equals.

Petal7 · 05/08/2023 23:29

We love things everyone can do together - bowling, swimming, aqua park, water slides, laser tag, paddle boarding, archery, board games (Herd Mentality/Telestrations).
We're going to take surf lessons this summer. But the thing my DC love best of all is making their own restaurant - deciding on what to cook, writing menus, cooking together, setting the table, serving us at the table - it's wonderful! Only wish they washed up!

buckley1983 · 05/08/2023 23:46

If we ask for our son if he wants to go for a walk, he just groans & buries his head.. if we include a game of 'winklepip' (basically just tag, but we called it winklepip as he read the name in an Enid Blyton book & thought it was hilarious!) - he's always up for it! Long may it continue!

ButterOllocks · 06/08/2023 14:22

We love kite making and flying ! we live up high - so always plenty of wind to take them up up up and away.

JacCharlton · 07/08/2023 10:34

So many lovely ideas ! I will deffo try the kites and tennis courts (weather permitting this summer 🤐 The things we love to do together are looking after the rabbits, going to the open farm, riding bikes and going to the cinema (just seen Barbie) although the OH wasn't looking forward - he thoroughly enjoyed
