This activity is now closed.

Whether it’s exploring the great outdoors, cozying up for a movie night, or indulging in a shared hobby, engaging in activities as a family can create precious memories and strengthen the bond between loved ones. We want to know about the activities that bring joy to your entire family.

  • Post your activities/stories in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw
  • One lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice.
Here’s what Immersive Gamebox has to say: “Our new immersive PAW Patrol experience is designed to be a fun activity for children and parents alike, with the ability to adjust the level of difficulty depending on the ages of the players. The experience promotes teamwork and includes educational elements that are integrated in an engaging way with the mission to make screen time social.”

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I think the aqua park inflatables are about the only thing that both children will enjoy. Even DH who normally hates cold water finds it quite fun.

savemejebus · 24/07/2023 15:38

Nature walks for us - with a little cup to collect interesting stones, leaves and bits, make a game out of how many cats and dogs we see, chase butterfly's, just have a chat - our 4 year old does NOT want to walk anywhere and this is the only way she will Grin
Also love a water park/splash pad

littlecottonbud · 25/07/2023 08:30

We love making mini pizzas, watching movies, riding bikes together and at the weekends swimming.

problembottom · 25/07/2023 20:00

We love our Saturday morning ritual - Lego club at the library, brunch at the local cafe and then playing in the park. Simple family time together.

Cotswoldmama · 25/07/2023 21:42

Going to one of the parks nearby and every Friday we have a movie night where we make a bed on the living room floor and watch a film. Then the boys have a sleepover downstairs.

Wheredidtheselotapego · 25/07/2023 21:45

We love cycling to a local park or museum with eldest on his bike and youngest on a bike seat

violentknight · 25/07/2023 22:24

Walking the dog after Sunday lunch, usually we drive to a spot by the river, then home for board games and tea.

justlass · 25/07/2023 22:38

We love cosying up with a take away to watch a movie. We don't do it very often, so it's a special treat.

DasAlteLeid · 25/07/2023 22:41

We love a weekend breakfast in bed, all three of us piled in with tea and toast, planning the day ahead. Rainy days we love board games like Monopoly or Cranium (junior!), sunny days we love a walk by the river with a bit of a paddle if it’s hot enough.

OneFrenchEgg · 26/07/2023 01:14

Quite rare now they are older but:

Theatre as a £££ activity - love it, we try to go when we can
Playing cards - hilarious and replacing board games for our Sunday nights with whoever is around
Small town with sweet shop/cathedral/coffee shop mooching

Iamnotanugget · 26/07/2023 07:55

We love getting round the table for board games. Sometimes we play competitive ones, other time co-op ones to avoid upset about losing. Loads of different games played in our house, if we can get the grandparents to join in that's even better!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 26/07/2023 13:28

We love cooking (and then eating) together. The children all love baking, but also enjoy helping to make soup, pizza, veggie bolognaise or chilli too. They even want to lay the table if they’ve made the dinner!

EsmeeMerlin · 26/07/2023 16:56

Going to the park or the beach, both 10 minutes walk from our house.

Indoors we all enjoy a movie night and playing board games.

Beabeautiful · 27/07/2023 13:42

we all enjoy sitting outside in the the garden, cooking food outside, lighting the firepit and on rainy days and in winter, watching movies, playing interactive computer games, and making and cooking pizza together (we invested in a pizza stone last year and love it )

Olinguito · 27/07/2023 14:56

This summer we have been enjoying open air cinema - much more informal than sitting in a normal cinema, with picnics or food/drink bought on site and our own chairs. The gamble with the weather adds an element of risk, but it is lovely sitting under the stars to watch a film.

CheshireCat1 · 27/07/2023 15:05

All the different generations in our family meet up most weeks, either in our homes or at a venue. We all enjoy gardening, swapping plants and helping each other. Weekends away, on the beach with the dogs, board games in the evening, long walks and picnics.

wingingit1987 · 27/07/2023 15:22

Trips to the beach. It’s free and the children absolutely love it. we live near lots of beautiful beaches and we feel very lucky.

Stephasaurus91 · 27/07/2023 18:41

We bought the English heritage pass as we love to explore all of the different places and it's saved us loads of money, my little girl loves to explore the buildings/castles and being able to explore the outdoors too

Gazelda · 27/07/2023 19:04

Lego. More DH and DC than me, but I do join in to make it a 'family thing'.

It's extended to watching Lego Masters Australia on TV which I admit is brilliantly entertaining. We have a routine if watching together with a magnum each.

SootspriteSearcher · 27/07/2023 19:46

We really enjoy exploring new places and having new experiences. Whether that's going on a walk, visiting a castle or seeing animals at the zoo.

It's become a bit of a challenge to find the best places to visit on a tight budget!

StickChildNumberTwo · 27/07/2023 20:22

Swimming is something we all enjoy doing together, and if it's a water park with slides and wave pools then all the better.

danigrace · 28/07/2023 04:36

We love board games, playing ball games, making obstacle courses, gardening - growing & harvesting & cooking with home grown produce, playing video games together, baking, crafting, reading together, and watching family films

JacCharlton · 28/07/2023 06:16

We love going to the petting farm together, going to the cinema (0n 2 for 1 events) getting the kitchenaid out and making a chocolate cake from our 'secret family' aka mary berry recipe - all have a job to do weighing, mixing, melting pouring, setting the timer and eating

burwellmum · 28/07/2023 13:47

We have family evenings in, with films and takeaway pizzas, as this appeals to all ages.

Isthisstillmymidlifecrisis · 28/07/2023 14:31

Open Water swimming (the sea!) and then having a hot drink to warm up afterwards.
Dog walks
competitive Wordle and Duolingo with my 9 year old (he’s faster and better than me )
