With so many different products to choose from and conflicting advice available for every skin type, for some people, it can take a lifetime to find a skincare routine that’s simple, affordable, and most importantly works wonders for your skin. With this in mind, The Nue Co. would like to hear what advice you would give your younger self about skincare and how to maintain a healthy routine.

Here’s what [[https://uk.thenueco.com/discount/mumsnet?redirect=/pages/barrier-culture?&utm_source=partnerships&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=mumsnet&utm_term=sponsoreddiscussion&utm_content=cta
The Nue Co.]] has to say:

“Whether it's uncomfortable bloating, restless nights or low immunity, we could all use a little help sometimes to make life easier. Our supplements for stress, gut health, immunity, skin, sleep and more are clean, proven and sustainable.

Our new launch, BARRIER CULTURE, comprises a cleanser and moisturiser duo, offering a universal, preventative approach to skincare that rebuilds the skin’s barrier, protects against pollution, and reduces plastic waste.

Plus, BARRIER CULTURE is 100% vegan, non-toxic and safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.”

Did you try out hundreds of different products before realising that a simple skincare routine works best for you? Did you swear by an expensive product for years only to find out that a cheaper alternative works just as well? Maybe you only recently discovered that your preferred skincare products were not environmentally friendly? Do you wish you had simply removed your makeup before going to bed? Or perhaps you would tell yourself not worry because you’re still searching for the perfect vegan product for your skin type.

Whatever you wish you could tell your younger self about skincare, all who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Cut back on the booze and use moisturiser! Didn't start a daily moisturiser with spf till i was late 20's and its made such a difference.

sunshinesky · 10/04/2021 13:25

Double cleanse to make sure every scrap of make up is off to help improve acne and ask the doctor to prescribe roaccutane sooner!!

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 10/04/2021 14:12

Wear sunscreen on your face every day.

HastingsIsSuckingDiesel · 10/04/2021 16:51

Drink lots of water
Remove make up at night
Get lots of sleep
Don't eat too much sugar- I only worked out in my 40s that's what causes me to break out
Moisturise x100

IWouldBeSuperb · 10/04/2021 19:39

Wear SPF! Yes, even in the winter!

And take off your make-up before bed! Yes, even when you're drunk!

onedream · 10/04/2021 21:45

Drink lots of water, don't sleep with make up on, clean your face properly and use moisturiser every morning and evening.

Cushionsnotpillows · 11/04/2021 17:32

I would say to my younger self to use a separate spf. Those "moisturiser with spf" are usually shit at both jobs. Moisturiser is meant to sink into skin. Spf needs to stay near the surface to stop UV. One product trying to do both jobs means neither will do well. Wish I had understood this earlier.

Bambam2019 · 11/04/2021 19:21

Drink more water and for the love of god take your make up off every night, no matter how drunk you are!!!

ForeverAlone1987 · 11/04/2021 23:03

SPF SPF SPF! Years of sun damage could of been prevented. Also to moisturise your skin daily

endlesscraziness · 11/04/2021 23:28

Wear sunscreen and cleanse your face properly

Skedall · 12/04/2021 11:34

Stay out of the sun!

murbblurb · 12/04/2021 13:02

Not to believe a word any beauty company says. Nothing works except sunscreen.

Lotstodo · 12/04/2021 16:13

Drink lots of water, keep your face out of the sun, always wear SPF and develop a good skincare routine. How you look after your skin when you are younger will pay off in the future.

SearchingTheSkies · 12/04/2021 17:44

I would say keep your face out of the sun - having a tan is NOT the be all and end all.

thechease · 12/04/2021 18:41

Don't use face wipes! Cleanse to properly remove make up. Be gentle around the eye area.

Catlv · 12/04/2021 22:37

Always wear sunscreen and drink lots of water. I'd also tell myself to appreciate having youthful skin!

Dizzywizz · 13/04/2021 07:36

I would tell my younger self to moisturise neck and hands as well as face, every time! I was always good at cleansing and using moisturiser but I think these areas can get forgotten.

LateMumma · 13/04/2021 11:43

Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock! That and moisturise your neck

bluebutterfly1 · 13/04/2021 14:18

I'd tell myself to use less make up. Especially foundation that clogs up your pores. You are already beautiful.

VeganCow · 13/04/2021 23:15

To use spf every day including winter. That using baby oil to sunbathe aged 16 is not a good idea

sheilads105 · 14/04/2021 13:21

Remember to take your make up off before bed and cleanse and moisturise every night. I would also tell myself that just because a product is expensive doesn't mean that is it better.

xxxxclarexxxx · 14/04/2021 15:39

I would definitely recommend to my younger self about taking off my make up, and too step away from the baby wipes! Always Use an spf and a good cleanser!

AND... step away from the hairspray on your face as a teen - this DOES NOT set ur make up and it's awful for your skin!!! Probably some advice on the dodgy make up and tan too! Not good!! Confused #notpretty haha 😄

Cleanse, tone and moisturise everyday, and don't forget to smear on the your SPF 50.

Carriecakes80 · 22/04/2021 23:21

I would tell myself to continue to stay out of the sun, its meant I have much less wrinkles than some of my friends who are younger, and stay chunky....the chunk pulls your skin tighter too....lol. (Ps Skinny does not suit you...keep your big bum!!)
