With so many different products to choose from and conflicting advice available for every skin type, for some people, it can take a lifetime to find a skincare routine that’s simple, affordable, and most importantly works wonders for your skin. With this in mind, The Nue Co. would like to hear what advice you would give your younger self about skincare and how to maintain a healthy routine.

Here’s what [[https://uk.thenueco.com/discount/mumsnet?redirect=/pages/barrier-culture?&utm_source=partnerships&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=mumsnet&utm_term=sponsoreddiscussion&utm_content=cta
The Nue Co.]] has to say:

“Whether it's uncomfortable bloating, restless nights or low immunity, we could all use a little help sometimes to make life easier. Our supplements for stress, gut health, immunity, skin, sleep and more are clean, proven and sustainable.

Our new launch, BARRIER CULTURE, comprises a cleanser and moisturiser duo, offering a universal, preventative approach to skincare that rebuilds the skin’s barrier, protects against pollution, and reduces plastic waste.

Plus, BARRIER CULTURE is 100% vegan, non-toxic and safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.”

Did you try out hundreds of different products before realising that a simple skincare routine works best for you? Did you swear by an expensive product for years only to find out that a cheaper alternative works just as well? Maybe you only recently discovered that your preferred skincare products were not environmentally friendly? Do you wish you had simply removed your makeup before going to bed? Or perhaps you would tell yourself not worry because you’re still searching for the perfect vegan product for your skin type.

Whatever you wish you could tell your younger self about skincare, all who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Use natural products only. My skin is at it's best when there's no chemicals touching it or as little as possible.

Patafi · 06/04/2021 16:17

I wish my younger self started taking care of her skin back then. Thankfully I didn't start too late, but I wish I had known then what I know now.

shansterx · 06/04/2021 16:25

I would tell my younger self to continue her love of water and to start losing weight early. The weight loss that came after my teenage years did wonders to my skin. Just wish I had known to do this earlier.

Cotswoldmama · 06/04/2021 17:55

I would tell myself to use sunscreen everyday. I do take good care of my skin but it's only in the last 5 years that I've made much more effort. I have never been a sun worshipper but I would definitely have used more sunscreen/sunblock if I had known how damaging it can be.

Obakarama · 06/04/2021 20:23

Do nothing different, and I mean nothing. Never used a product in my life on my skin and am glowing and have few wrinkles. And anyway, embrace what you will become whatever

  1. Protect your skin from the sun - high SPF products, don't sit in the sun.
  2. Clean with products that are gentle and don't strip all the natural.oils.
  3. Never forget to moisturise.
  4. Don't cake your skin with make-up.
  5. Get into a skincare routine when you are young enough for it to make a difference - too many people wait until the damage to their skin is visible, when all you can hope for is to disguise it, not prevent it.
ButterflyOfFreedom · 07/04/2021 06:39

Don't get sunburnt - anywhere, ever.
Wear sunscreen even when the sun doesn't appear that hot/ intense.

Teatoweltable · 07/04/2021 09:09

Suncream

littlecottonbud · 07/04/2021 09:56

Listen to your parents about sunscreen - having a tan is not the be all and end all - the damage lasts a lifetime

Vburton1 · 07/04/2021 15:24

Keep it simple with your skincare routine & use an SPF from your hairline to your boobs.

mummyuk86 · 07/04/2021 16:52

I'd advise my younger self to remove makeup before bed whenever possible and always cleanse and moisturise twice a day.
My skin is so dry now days.

I would tell my younger self to put sunscreen. I'm already tan, and I just got more tan over the years. Thankfully, I'm now back to 'normal'.

Whytie · 07/04/2021 21:03

I would tell my younger self to start natural skincare and use essential oils.

Double cleanse. Don’t be scared of oil - on your face or in your diet.

starray · 08/04/2021 02:03

I would tell my younger self to avoid the late nights, clean off make-up properly before going to bed, moisturize with a light moisturizer and stay out of the sun!

digginthedancingqueen · 08/04/2021 07:15

Wear more sunblock, moisturize every night, eat well and drink lots of water.
