With so many different products to choose from and conflicting advice available for every skin type, for some people, it can take a lifetime to find a skincare routine that’s simple, affordable, and most importantly works wonders for your skin. With this in mind, The Nue Co. would like to hear what advice you would give your younger self about skincare and how to maintain a healthy routine.

Here’s what [[https://uk.thenueco.com/discount/mumsnet?redirect=/pages/barrier-culture?&utm_source=partnerships&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=mumsnet&utm_term=sponsoreddiscussion&utm_content=cta
The Nue Co.]] has to say:

“Whether it's uncomfortable bloating, restless nights or low immunity, we could all use a little help sometimes to make life easier. Our supplements for stress, gut health, immunity, skin, sleep and more are clean, proven and sustainable.

Our new launch, BARRIER CULTURE, comprises a cleanser and moisturiser duo, offering a universal, preventative approach to skincare that rebuilds the skin’s barrier, protects against pollution, and reduces plastic waste.

Plus, BARRIER CULTURE is 100% vegan, non-toxic and safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.”

Did you try out hundreds of different products before realising that a simple skincare routine works best for you? Did you swear by an expensive product for years only to find out that a cheaper alternative works just as well? Maybe you only recently discovered that your preferred skincare products were not environmentally friendly? Do you wish you had simply removed your makeup before going to bed? Or perhaps you would tell yourself not worry because you’re still searching for the perfect vegan product for your skin type.

Whatever you wish you could tell your younger self about skincare, all who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Moisturise and sunscreen.

I'm 65 and can still pass for 50.

Pumpkyumpkyumpkin · 08/04/2021 08:23

Look after your neck, don't forget about it when moisturising!

Serender · 08/04/2021 13:31

Exercise and drink more water!

PatrishaPatel · 08/04/2021 13:40

Use sunscreen even if you feel like you don't need it.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/04/2021 15:58

Stay out of the sun more.
You can get sunburn in March.

MargosKaftan · 08/04/2021 16:00

Dont tan. All other creams and potions are great, but don't tan.

(I do look better with a tan though...)

maisietoo · 08/04/2021 19:24

You don't need expensive shampoos or conditioners. Also, when it comes to make-up, less is more.

catmg · 08/04/2021 20:11

I wish I had known that what works for one person - or a hundred other people! - might not work for me and my skin.

I have wasted so much money buying the current big things in skincare only to be constantly having to repair my skins barrier when it gets irritated by these on trend products!

Kweenxo · 08/04/2021 20:13

I would tell my younger self to eat healthy and drink plenty of water. And also exercise. I really wish my younger self knew better.

virginfannyornaments · 08/04/2021 20:31

Wear factor 50 every day without fail!

Londonbred · 08/04/2021 21:16
  1. Wear spf 50 on face every day
  2. A simple affordable and consistent routine is best.
  3. Use tretinoin from 30+
sqirrelfriends · 08/04/2021 22:01

Sunscreen
Try not to drink quite so much alcohol
Spend a bit more on your makeup

buckley1983 · 08/04/2021 22:21

My skin has never been good & has always been my least favourite part of myself (such a shame as it forms most of me really!)
Some advice I would give my younger self though;

  • Ditch the dairy - maybe it's the hormones in cows milk, but it always makes my skin worse & ditching it improved my skin massively.
  • Don't bother wasting your time visiting the GP - the antibiotics will wreak havoc on your gut & won't make one bit of difference to your skin!
  • Wear suncream every day, even in the winter!!
Bopahula · 08/04/2021 22:46

Use cleanser and toner and properly moisturise every night. (Including my neck!).

Fortunefavours1 · 09/04/2021 00:41

Drink more water and use shnscreen. Also, learn facial massage

Goingovertosusanshouse · 09/04/2021 09:41

Drink more water, wear spf every day and double cleanse! Do NOT use an apricot scrub!!

Sacreblue · 09/04/2021 10:26

Smoking will never be as good for you as fresh air.

Smile more - there will still be wrinkles but they’ll only settle in the face you have most often.

itsywitsy · 09/04/2021 10:44

Sitting in the sun for 7 hours a day using factor 4 will damage your skin and cause you skin damage - you can always use a tinted moisturiser and have more fun seeing the sights on holiday ! (wish I'd listened mum)

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 09/04/2021 13:34

Try harder to find a moisturiser with spf
Moisturise your neck
Review your skincare regime every 5 years - what works at 15 isn’t necessarily good at 25.

SlipperyLizard · 09/04/2021 15:30

Keep up the daily sunscreen! You won’t regret it

starlight36 · 09/04/2021 15:39

Wear sunscreen and wear sunglasses.
Never pick spots - it ALWAYS makes them last longer and may leave marks
Drink lots of water, especially before nights out and when you get in

jannyapple · 09/04/2021 18:19

I would tell my younger self to not forget my neck !!!!

billybear · 09/04/2021 19:23

always take your make up off before bed,use suntanlotion

JasmineandIsaiah · 09/04/2021 20:32

I would tell my younger self to not wear make-up and to drink lots of water. I stopped wearing make-up at 30 and have never looked better or felt better ♥️

MeltingSnowflake · 09/04/2021 21:55
  • Wear SPF, even on cloudy days
  • Remember to moisturise your chest
  • A hot flannel works just as well as any face wash
  • Find a brand that suits your skin and stick with it forever!
