Whether you’re purchasing for your own baby or as a gift for a loved one, selecting newborn baby clothes can be a really special experience. However, there can be a lot to consider, so in celebration of their new organic cotton newborn range, Baby Boden would like to hear what’s important to you when choosing baby clothes.

Here’s what Boden has to say: “Baby Boden is excited to share its brand new newborn organic cotton range. In a selection of aww-inspiring designs with Boden signature details, the new collection is made from snuggly soft organic cotton which is kinder to the planet and gentle on the softest of skin.

The collection features snuggly zip-up sleepsuits, bodies in packs of 3, reversible styles, dresses, hats, dungarees, and also gift sets ranging from 4 to 7 pieces, which all come in a matching fabric bag or a beautiful Baby Boden gift box - perfect for gifting new parents who are expecting a new arrival. The whole range is machine washable, and carefully constructed with the safety and comfort of little ones in mind so you don’t have to worry.”

Do you put a lot of thought into the fabric of your baby’s clothes, perhaps preferring organic cotton? Is it important to you that your baby’s clothes are as soft as possible? Perhaps your clothing choices are influenced by the fabric’s effect on your baby’s skin? Or are you most interested in the washability and longevity of your choices? Maybe you’re most interested in the placement of poppers, buttons or zips, to ensure it’s convenient when you need to do a swift nappy change?

All who share what they believe to be most important when purchasing baby clothes will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Boden voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I think the most important things are that they are soft and comfortable to wear, hard wearing (and doesn’t fade or bobble too much in the wash) and is easily ‘off and on-able’!

  • easy to get on and off
  • colour coded poppers which have been a saviour for a sleep deprived first time mum
  • soft cotton
  • washes well with no faffy instructions or needs
  • bright colours in gender neutral patterns not just grey or yellow
  • website or app searchable by colour and size returning all items irrelevant of gender

Clothes that retain their quality when washed, are easy to get on and off and have a variety of colours and designs beyond the usual pink, blue and white.

CinnamonTwist · 03/02/2021 12:34

Easy to wash/care for. Soft, breathable fabrics with a comfortable fit, that also wear well and don't look tired after the first (of many many washes with a sicky baby) wash. Practical with poppers in the right places! I bought a lovely organic baby grow from mamas and papas before my eldest was born, it was only when I went to use it that I realised the only fastenings on it were up the back... totally impractical and it was only worn once!

Jjjayfee · 03/02/2021 13:40

Easy to put on, washability and style.

Pinkflowers19 · 03/02/2021 20:33

Comfort, cute, price and easy to whip on and offSmile

Mysocalledlifexx · 03/02/2021 21:50

Comfort style colour
I like pale pastel colours for my babies i find alot of places do awful colours that just spoil the item
has to be soft & easy to get off & on.
Babygrows have to have buttons all the way down, over the head ones are a waste of time also they go to high up near the baby's neck which i hate.
More cute knit wear is needed i struggled to find any that were nice in colour & a style i wanted for my baby.
Looking for new clothes just now so tights, knit wear, dresses, has to be a good price the colours would be pink ,white, cream, beige, mustard if it has denim in it but my main colour is pink.i love flower prints so i would buy other colours if i love the print. I love just cotton dresses simple & comfy for my girl. NO WOOL THIS IS A BIG NO FOR ME.
Has to wash well & not fade.

Machine washable and able to be tumble dried is a must for me. Also clothes that are made larger to accommodate reusable nappies are really helpful.

Sid98 · 04/02/2021 03:06

Good price and quality

flowersanam · 04/02/2021 03:12

Has got to be good quality and price

wonkylegs · 04/02/2021 12:50

Easy wash, easy to put on
I loved wrap body suits with poppers and trousers easy to put on a wriggly baby especially if like me you struggle with your hands (grannies liked them too)
Soft fabrics
Nice neutrals or bright colours there is way too much pale pink and blue available

For me the ideal would be:

  • super soft organic cotton
  • items that can be washed without fading, shrinking and without some parts leaking color on to others. Even better if they don't shrink in the tumble dryer
  • In tops I like poppers on the shoulders, I always worry baby is uncomfortable on tops with popper at the back. I really dislike the shoulder flaps as they are bulky and also make the hole for the head too big.
  • In babygrows I prefer zips and struggled to find decent ones (I received some amazing ones from the US: superb quality, great designs and soooo practical instead of having to pop and un-pop those suits all day long)
  • No buttons if possible
womenshouldnothaverights · 04/02/2021 15:32

hey sexy make me a sandwhich

claza93 · 04/02/2021 17:08

Firstly has to be that they are soft and kind to tiny skin. They need to be easy to get in and out of for nappy changes etc
They also need to have pretty patterns and gorgeous colours as all Boden clothes have!

Patafi · 04/02/2021 19:14

Comfort to me is most important and quality comes a close second.

shansterx · 04/02/2021 19:33

If an outfit is cute but looks like it would irritate then it's in a definite NO pile. I like to balance out between the materials used, quality and price.

SayNoMor · 04/02/2021 19:46

Something that's affordable. Babies grow quickly, so I don't want to keep having to pay a lot each time. Yet, soft cotton is also important for me.

LaceyBetty · 04/02/2021 19:59

Definitely how washable they are. Learned the hard way after number one.

Whytie · 04/02/2021 20:07

I love colourful prints. I also sometimes like pastel colours. I'm more into quality over cost, because yes babies grow but I know I can just pass the clothes along. Comfort is also important.

mophia · 04/02/2021 20:25

Soft and comfortable. Also practical.

Feebes27 · 04/02/2021 21:46

That they are easy to get on and off wiggly little ones.

NotFrozen · 04/02/2021 23:03

Softness, easy of use and also price matter. Babies grow so quickly so there is no point overspending.

NotFrozen · 04/02/2021 23:04

Zips are also much better than poppers!

ToastandJamandTea · 06/02/2021 08:59

The quality of the fabric - softness, washes well and doesnt stretch or shrink. The ease of putting it on and removing it, and of course the design.

ronswansonstache · 06/02/2021 09:09

Yes to:

Ease of fastening. Love sleepsuits with zips and poppers on the front
Fun colours and designs that don't just fall into the 'pink princess' trope for my DD
Affordability - she grows so quickly I'd be put off buying anything too expensive if she may wear them half a dozen times

No to:
Frills and flouncy bits. Unnecessary grabbable fabric
Poppers on the back. Really hated these when my baby was really small and I didn't like rolling her over too much to do up clothes
