Whether you’re purchasing for your own baby or as a gift for a loved one, selecting newborn baby clothes can be a really special experience. However, there can be a lot to consider, so in celebration of their new organic cotton newborn range, Baby Boden would like to hear what’s important to you when choosing baby clothes.

Here’s what Boden has to say: “Baby Boden is excited to share its brand new newborn organic cotton range. In a selection of aww-inspiring designs with Boden signature details, the new collection is made from snuggly soft organic cotton which is kinder to the planet and gentle on the softest of skin.

The collection features snuggly zip-up sleepsuits, bodies in packs of 3, reversible styles, dresses, hats, dungarees, and also gift sets ranging from 4 to 7 pieces, which all come in a matching fabric bag or a beautiful Baby Boden gift box - perfect for gifting new parents who are expecting a new arrival. The whole range is machine washable, and carefully constructed with the safety and comfort of little ones in mind so you don’t have to worry.”

Do you put a lot of thought into the fabric of your baby’s clothes, perhaps preferring organic cotton? Is it important to you that your baby’s clothes are as soft as possible? Perhaps your clothing choices are influenced by the fabric’s effect on your baby’s skin? Or are you most interested in the washability and longevity of your choices? Maybe you’re most interested in the placement of poppers, buttons or zips, to ensure it’s convenient when you need to do a swift nappy change?

All who share what they believe to be most important when purchasing baby clothes will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Boden voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I love ethical clothes, knowing an item is fair trade means a lot to me.
Comfort for baby, love soft and snuggly designs, bamboo or cotton. No tight necklines or fussy details.
Practiality- easy to get on and off
Gorgeous prints and colours. Great if there are mix and match items so that the inevitable outfit changes are easier.
Recycled fabrics are very attractive to me, love monsoon's sewsustainable effort.
Something unique Boden could do that would make me more attracted to their baby clothes is to commission designs from women's collectives in developing countries or artists who have learning disabilities. Using the business to make a positive difference. Or if you did 1 for 1 and for each item you bought one was given to a baby in a developing country or a mum and baby unit.

Arms with the little foldover gloves for naps and not scratching. Soft, organic fabric. Nothing frilly that could itch. No denim.

I love soft, organic cotton baby clothes. I love if they are attractive but comfort matters most. I like gender neutral designs. I prefer prints on fabric to bows etc. The ability to wash at 60 degrees and to last well when tumble dried are essential. I like clothes that don't bobble or loose shape.

TechnoDino · 29/01/2021 13:02

Clothes must be easy to put on and take off, no asymetric botton or poppers, or tie fastenings, for example.
Nice soft fabrics which don’t pill after washing, and cotton for any layers in contact with the skin. I’m not keen on wool for knitwear, because of the itch factor.
I prefer nice clean, fresh or bold colours for babies, not keen on beiges and browns and creams.

Tomatobear · 29/01/2021 13:28

Softness, stretchiness and nice fabric design. Also ease of design- easy to get on and off is very important.

Stretchy is especially important when you have a baby with a big head that is in cloth nappies!

BumpLoading · 29/01/2021 14:01

The design is the first thing I look at, because I'm a suckered for a cute outfit!
Then check the fabric, organic cotton for vests and baby grows.
Also no strange placement of poppers, if I wouldnt want to sleep with poppers on the back of my neck I wouldnt expect a baby to!

Kb12 · 29/01/2021 14:22

I love zips.

purpleclaire · 29/01/2021 16:02

I like natural fibres and prefer them to be easy to get on and off.

Nellie850 · 29/01/2021 16:47

They need to be able to go in a standard wash and be able to be tumble dried. I look at the fastenings and how easy they would be to get on and off as well as for nappy changes. Quality is important as I would pass on clothing to friends/charity shop.

CathBookworm · 29/01/2021 18:12

Comfort is the most important, followed by being easy to care for. I also don't like to spend too much as they grow out of things so quickly!

sharond101 · 29/01/2021 18:59

Comfort and washing well is the most important factor.

billybear · 29/01/2021 19:06

soft comfy easy to put on easy fashening.easy to wash, anything that makes my washing easier

Leeds2 · 29/01/2021 21:46

Something comfortable for baby to wear, and something easy to wash. I also don't buy all white, as they seem to lose their brightness after a few washes.

stimpy1 · 29/01/2021 21:52

Try to stick to simple clothes that are easy to get on and off and soft fabrics that wash and tumble dry well!!

mnahmnah · 29/01/2021 22:01

Super cosy fabric that washes well, looks cute and is easy to change nappies in

chocohol · 29/01/2021 22:10

Comfort and ease of dressing. Fabrics that feel nice to touch for baby and I. Easycare, sustainable fabrics. Bright colours.

LifeBeginsNow · 29/01/2021 22:15

I'd choose cotton clothes as my ideal for baby clothes. They are easy to wash; tend to keep their shape; soft and non irritating to the skin; and are a sustainable material choice.
The next factor would have to be the design or pattern but even a plain white outfit is adorable so it's difficult not to love baby clothes!

Chalalala90 · 29/01/2021 22:17

Comfortable for my little boy, washes well, easy to dress a fidgety little one and price

NeurologicallySpeaking · 29/01/2021 22:24

Soft to the touch but also poppers / zips very important. So zips on sleepsuits rather than poppers. Or kimono style fastening. Or poppers where some are different colours for quick matching. Nothing that unnecessarily has to go over a baby's head!!

MrsFrTedCrilly · 29/01/2021 23:09

Soft natural fabric that washes well was always on my wish list for newborn clothing.
Also designs that were easy to fit a wriggling baby into, who ever thought big bulky buttons or silly tiny ones that open easily are a good idea? And please don’t get me started on functional pockets in tiny baby clothes...Hmm

Luhou · 29/01/2021 23:16

Unique designs, extra special details, extended wear features e.g two button heights on dungarees, patterned roll ups on legs and sleeves etc.l love boden clothes, but usually only buy your special items like dresses/coats etc, basics likes leggings and vests I am more happy to buy cheaper alternatives. Smile

Elpheba · 30/01/2021 07:17

Comfort for baby is most important to me. Then ease of changing nappy, putting outfit on, must be practical to wash. Can’t be dealing with frilly skirts for small. Love bright colours/patterns. No writing or slogans- saying “look how cute I am” or words to that effect- babies are already cute!

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 30/01/2021 07:27

I loved clothes that are soft and comfortable for the baby. It would be perfect if they had cute little designs, I would prefer more toned down colours for small babies and then the brighter designs and fabrics when they are a little older.

duckling3 · 30/01/2021 08:54

I look for clothes which are both practical, ie wash well, easy to get on and off, comfortable to wear. And beautiful to look at. My biggest pet peeve for baby clothes is that there is often tons of beautiful ranges of clothes for baby girls, but much less choice for baby boys. As a boy mum I'd love more choices for boys!

Mrslouu · 30/01/2021 08:57

Affordable, comfy, easy to wash and fashionable/colourful . I love boden clothes and their prints so looking forward to seeing the range.
