Whether you’re purchasing for your own baby or as a gift for a loved one, selecting newborn baby clothes can be a really special experience. However, there can be a lot to consider, so in celebration of their new organic cotton newborn range, Baby Boden would like to hear what’s important to you when choosing baby clothes.

Here’s what Boden has to say: “Baby Boden is excited to share its brand new newborn organic cotton range. In a selection of aww-inspiring designs with Boden signature details, the new collection is made from snuggly soft organic cotton which is kinder to the planet and gentle on the softest of skin.

The collection features snuggly zip-up sleepsuits, bodies in packs of 3, reversible styles, dresses, hats, dungarees, and also gift sets ranging from 4 to 7 pieces, which all come in a matching fabric bag or a beautiful Baby Boden gift box - perfect for gifting new parents who are expecting a new arrival. The whole range is machine washable, and carefully constructed with the safety and comfort of little ones in mind so you don’t have to worry.”

Do you put a lot of thought into the fabric of your baby’s clothes, perhaps preferring organic cotton? Is it important to you that your baby’s clothes are as soft as possible? Perhaps your clothing choices are influenced by the fabric’s effect on your baby’s skin? Or are you most interested in the washability and longevity of your choices? Maybe you’re most interested in the placement of poppers, buttons or zips, to ensure it’s convenient when you need to do a swift nappy change?

All who share what they believe to be most important when purchasing baby clothes will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Boden voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Aesthetics, practicality, quality, comfortable, sizing - whether they fit small/big. I personally avoid buy the brand again if I don't like the fit

Salamander91 · 30/01/2021 16:39

Comfort is most important for me followed by practicality. I tend to use mostly Sleepsuits in the first few months and much prefer those with zips. They are so much easier to use.

Colour is the next important thing for me. I like bright colours not the typical baby pink and blue.

Sleepybumble · 30/01/2021 16:51

When choosing clothes for DD when she was a baby I always went for super soft sleepsuits, leggings and tops. We used Boden alot as I knew it would wash well and be great second hand. I don't like waste so bought everything either with mind to pass on or bought second hand. Boden was reliable and I loved the choices.

saffysabir · 30/01/2021 17:56

I like cute outfits, but I won't ever pick aesthetics over comfortability.

salemaxo · 30/01/2021 18:04

For me it's a balance of quality, cost, fabric and comfort.

alshareif · 30/01/2021 18:17

I don't mind tight things like leggings and tights, but I try not to get anything that would make the kids itchy.

MParke · 30/01/2021 18:31

Bright, bold colours but also pastels in terms of colour range. I do prefer organic cotton but can't always afford it so affordability is also important for me.

zindeggeh · 30/01/2021 18:38

I do prefer convenience in terms of nappy changes and/or cleaning, but if I see something cute for my daughter then for a few rare outfits, I don't think about convenience. I do always have comfort in mind for all outfits.

There's a mixture of essential things I would look for: softness of fabric, ease of putting them on/off, practicality of the design, washable - but additionally there is something else: the sense of playfulness, lovely fabrics, something a bit unusual. Childhood should be a time of fun, and that includes clothes.

fishnships · 30/01/2021 20:58

Soft material - I cringe at babies in denim - and lots of poppers to make nappy changing easy. Organic cotton would be great!

Soft to the touch, neutral colours, and either full length poppers or zip. If zip, then a double zip to ensure easy nappy change!! Single zip makes for a chilly change 🥰

purplejungle · 31/01/2021 00:29

Softness. Bold unisex designs. Items that stretch and so last as baby grows.

zucchinieggplant · 31/01/2021 11:32

Easy to wash is my top priority, if it's a faff to clean it'll never get worn. It should also be easy for me to dress my child in, and look nice on!

Dogsandbabies · 31/01/2021 12:28

There are several aspects I consider. Comfort for the baby is probably most important. Followed by natural fabrics and wash as well as tumble dry well. Lastly I do think of design. Especially as they become toddlers and have a view on which clothes they like to wear.

TaraRhu · 31/01/2021 15:02

Durability and quality. Things that was well and don't bobble and shrink or stretch.

Ashhead24 · 31/01/2021 18:39

Really comfy, easy to get on and off. Bright and colourful. Wash well.

mumtobabygilrl · 31/01/2021 20:07

The feel of the fabric, making sure it it soft on the delicate newborn skin, also any thing that does not need ironing is an absolute must. Who would give new parents clothes that need to be ironed each wash!? Easy to get on and off with poppers instead of tiny fiddly buttons. I also like traditional patterns and designs for newborns - classic not too modern

Wotapolava · 31/01/2021 20:14

Warm and plenty of layers when needed.
Vests were always a must mainly beneath babygros.
As for colours, I went with traditional colours for the first.
Changed tact with second.
Now they pick louder colours than I ever did.
It is like walking up the road with a beacon with his choice of trainers.
No need for GPS if we get stranded.

Hayley909 · 31/01/2021 21:01

It’s important they can be tumble dried, are made of cotton, don’t shrink in the wash, have the scratch mittens built in to the sleeves if it’s a baby grow and have easy access to the nappy. Poppers all the way down and not ones that go over the head are best for newborn IMO

Jayteedee · 31/01/2021 22:45

How soft they are, how lovely the designs are, but most importantly how well they wash. So many kids things shrink!

flowersfromheaven · 31/01/2021 22:45

Always safety first, checking that their is no holes in cardigans what she could get her little fingers trapped in plus l always feel the fabric and if it feel harsh or feels like its going to go bobbly I do not buy, I make sure that their is plenty of room to get her arms and legs because I do not want to be tucking her body into anything tight.

honeybee88 · 01/02/2021 03:46

Soft and comfy with no hard weeks on inside. Poppers or zips down each leg for nappy change. Can be put in washing machine and tumbledrier without shriking.! Designs on front that dont look like sleepwear so you dont have to look for different things for day/ night. Things that mix and match. Personally I love a bodysuit and an all in one and dont like a lot of fussy clothes for first year.

nzborn · 01/02/2021 04:29
