Keeping your children’s skin happy can be difficult, particularly during the winter months. With that in mind, La Roche Posay would like to hear about your skincare tips this winter.

Here’s what La Roche Posay has to say: “We know winter can be tough on the skin, especially for the little ones. Cold, windy weather outside combined with central heating and lack of humidity inside can weaken the protective layer of the skin, causing it to lose natural moisture. It is key to take extra care of your family’s sensitive skin and protect it during this time of the year. We would love to hear about your winter skin routine and how you keep your children’s skin soft and comfortable during these months.”

Do you have a winter skincare routine for your children? Perhaps you have tips on how to increase humidity in your child’s room or you keep an emergency moisturiser in your bag at all times? Does La-Roche-Posay feature on your family’s skincare routine?

Whether you have a ten step dedicated winter skincare routine or you’re the ‘moisturise and call it a day’ type, we want to hear all about it.

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

My daughter gets eczema on her arms and face. We moisturise with a natural non fragranced moisturiser in the morning, evening and after a bath!

My children suffer from eczema which generally flares up in the winter, I have to make sure they cream up lots and try to keep the area dry

We all suffer from very dry skin, so do a number of things: reduce soap use, and use a gentel sulfate--free soap on skin, and then supplement with lots of moisturiser. Love Lipikar Baume cream, and have handbag sized ones for use on cheeks when in cold weather!
Dry lips are really challenging and since the demise of Bliteze have yet to find anything quite as good.

Moisturiser after bath each night and Vaseline for any dry patches!

My son's hands used to dry out and crack in winter. I found that he was using cold water and not drying them properly. So I talked to him about using warm water and drying his hands. After washing and when particularly dry we use Child's Farm moisturiser in hands and body / face as this seems to do the trick. I also sometime slather his hands while he sleeps and tuck them into his duvet which works wonders.

I use Lasinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream on my lips all year round but especially in winter. It's like Vaseline only better! I use this on my son's lips and around his nose to keep them from drying / cracking.

Finally, since he was a baby we have used baby oil on his skin before a bath (once or twice a week) and moisturised after. This helps keep that baby-soft skin as long as possible Smile

Same with both my children there skin dries out, so along with moisturiser before it gets too bad then steroid cream is our only solution. I make sure I don’t rub them dry with a towel and go for a more dab dry approach and a little shake as to not irritate their skin. This works well for us.

I don't do anything except apply Diprobase if they have some dry patches

All three of my children, and in deed my husband and myself struggle with dry skin and eczema. We encourage the kids to lather themselves in cream after their baths to ensure their sun is well moisturised. I often put a bit of oil in the bath too (though we have to be super careful it doesn't get too slippy)!

There's always a lip balm in coat pockets, and hand cream is encouraged (especially at the moment with all the hand gel)!

Never underestimate the power of moisturiser. I make sure it's in shower cream/bath products or put it on after every bath/shower especially important in hard water areas, well moisturised skin can help prevent dermalogical issues. Don't have to be expensive products, they just smell better. Prevention is better than cure.

We ensure children's skin are moisturised all year round and clothing is made out of material that is easy on the skin (for example, rough/starchy cotton is something we avoid). This is especially so in Winter, with the need to wrap up more, and exposure to sudden and greater changes in temperature (coming in from the freezing outdoors to the very warm heated indoors).

I bathe my kids every other day so as not to dry their skin out and they love applying moisturiser themselves so I let them get on with it. They don't tend to suffer too much with it but its always a good habit to get into.

We always moisturise the areas that are prone to getting dry

We go for quite natural and simple moisturisers for the children. I give them Vaseline for their lips to use before they get chapped. I use body shop hemp cream for dry hands especially with the excessive washing going on at the moment.

We don't bathe our daughter every day as it tends to dry out her skin and cause ecszema flare ups.

Moisturiser after a bath, and we usually give bath bombs a kiss as they really dry their skin out. Hand cream and lip balm in every pocket!

Angiemum24 · 02/03/2021 21:26

Regular moisturiser daily after a bath stop skin chapping during the winter months.

Bubble baths and rich moisturiser, lip balm and warm drinks, cuddle clothes (cotton T-shirts under scratchy or itchy knits).
