Keeping your children’s skin happy can be difficult, particularly during the winter months. With that in mind, La Roche Posay would like to hear about your skincare tips this winter.

Here’s what La Roche Posay has to say: “We know winter can be tough on the skin, especially for the little ones. Cold, windy weather outside combined with central heating and lack of humidity inside can weaken the protective layer of the skin, causing it to lose natural moisture. It is key to take extra care of your family’s sensitive skin and protect it during this time of the year. We would love to hear about your winter skin routine and how you keep your children’s skin soft and comfortable during these months.”

Do you have a winter skincare routine for your children? Perhaps you have tips on how to increase humidity in your child’s room or you keep an emergency moisturiser in your bag at all times? Does La-Roche-Posay feature on your family’s skincare routine?

Whether you have a ten step dedicated winter skincare routine or you’re the ‘moisturise and call it a day’ type, we want to hear all about it.

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

My youngest has really sensitive skin so the winter is not the best season for his skin. We moisturise daily but even more so on his hands which have been particularly troubled by him having to wash and apply harsh hand sanitiser throughout the day at school. It's really dried them out and are usually red and sore by the time he comes home.

during the winter, only bathe your child every alternate day. Straight after any shower/bath, apply body lotion and moisturisers.

RoryS1 · 26/01/2021 11:47

Like a lot of children, my sons skin is sensitive. In the winter I switch from lotions to creams or ointments (which provide more moisture). I use products meant for kids. But this doesn't have to be expensive, most supermarkets do their own brands.

Plenty of lotions after bathtime to keep the skin moisturised

agreaves19 · 26/01/2021 12:06

I use moisturising bath products and product they hands and faces from the harsh winter with gloves and scarves

Nic7005 · 26/01/2021 12:25

Oilatum bath is great and the cream is fab for hydrating dry skin

bbyclairey · 26/01/2021 12:48

Plenty of moisturising cream. Apply after the bath when the skin is the driest. Aveeno is one of the best we use and apply it after every bath and also every night x

Use bath and shower products with a neutral ph balance to avoid stripping natural oils from the skin.

sheilads105 · 26/01/2021 14:25

I use non-bio sensitive skin washing powder and conditioner. It really helps to keep skin comfortable in all weathers. Natural fibres help too particularly in pyjamas.

Baby bedtime bath and baby oil for my daughter keeps her skin soft

villagefox · 26/01/2021 15:46

My son tends to have showers rather than baths as they don't dry his skin as much (or use as much water)!

AndreaF13 · 26/01/2021 17:33

My son has eczema so has to moisturise his skin all year round.

Ellpea28 · 26/01/2021 18:30

I use kids farm moisturiser and then aquaphor. Works a treat for dry skin!

ciderchickxxx · 26/01/2021 18:33

VASELINE! Use it on my daughters skin as a moisturiser and barrier. It's super cheap and works perfectly x

My LO started suffering from what seemed to be an eczema like rash at just a couple of months old. Tried Dr's recommendations for moisturisers plus heaps of others like Burts Bees, Childs Farm etc but nothing seemed to work. Through researching tho I worked out that the daily bath we thought babies had to have was probably too much! So we switched to just once every 3 days with a small amount of Nivea creme bath plus I thought I would try something I used to use years ago to make lip butters with, Shea Butter. I bought a huge tub of 100% natural African Shea Butter, cut some off (it comes in big blocks) & keep it in a small tub in my bathroom on the radiator so it stays all molten. It is amazing!!! So, so moisturising that you only need a teeny bit onve every few days when you notice dry skin. It cleared uo the eczema like rash in no time at all & my boy is now 18 mnths old & my tub is still going strong as you don't need much. Just make not to let baby/toddler get it if you keep it on the radiator as it gets hot. I just pop a bit on my fingers & rub it in my hands before I pop it on my boys skin. Then rub my fingers through the ends of my hair for a bit of a boost!! It really is amazing, highly recommended Smile

Not too much change from winter to summer. Use sunscreen, hats. Moisturise with Nivea cream or E45 cream or lotion....not greasy

Kweenxo · 26/01/2021 21:22

In the winter I have to make sure kids use chapstick otherwise I find their lips get cracked.

Kittyme · 26/01/2021 21:32

I like to use baby oil on my little ones after they have had their bath, I find it locks in moisture and keeps their skin soft and hydrated.

curlin · 26/01/2021 21:40

Fresh air and when they come in I do not have the heating high. Dry them properly after a wash and they seem fine

StickChildNumberTwo · 26/01/2021 22:04

I'm currently trying to persuade my daughter to use something on her chapped lips which look really sore at the corners. She keeps 'forgetting' so I'm figuring it can't be that much of a problem. I don't use anything on them regularly, only if they've got particularly dry skin.

essexgirl46 · 26/01/2021 22:49

Hibiscrub for washing, as it has no perfume so its good for children who itch from using soap. Shea butter for moisturising as it's pure, I used this on my daughters eczema and it helped.

Serender · 26/01/2021 23:20

I tend to follow a routine when it comes to moisturising. It becomes more important in the winter I feel as the cold makes the kids' skin more dry.

leafygarden42 · 27/01/2021 07:23

Vaseline in little tin pots - great for cracked lips.

yasmin0147 · 27/01/2021 08:18

I moisturise my sons face everyday in winder so it doesn’t get all red and sore. I also get my children to drink plenty as water is very important.

andyboy190 · 27/01/2021 11:24

Drink plenty fluid keep there face covered from the cold winter winds
