Keeping your children’s skin happy can be difficult, particularly during the winter months. With that in mind, La Roche Posay would like to hear about your skincare tips this winter.

Here’s what La Roche Posay has to say: “We know winter can be tough on the skin, especially for the little ones. Cold, windy weather outside combined with central heating and lack of humidity inside can weaken the protective layer of the skin, causing it to lose natural moisture. It is key to take extra care of your family’s sensitive skin and protect it during this time of the year. We would love to hear about your winter skin routine and how you keep your children’s skin soft and comfortable during these months.”

Do you have a winter skincare routine for your children? Perhaps you have tips on how to increase humidity in your child’s room or you keep an emergency moisturiser in your bag at all times? Does La-Roche-Posay feature on your family’s skincare routine?

Whether you have a ten step dedicated winter skincare routine or you’re the ‘moisturise and call it a day’ type, we want to hear all about it.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Moisturiser and something rubbed in after the bath.

Lots of water to drink and fresh vegetables plus a good multi vitamin.

And then more moisturiser. Although the really sticky ones seem to cause more itching as the skin can't breathe. So frequent light creams.

kathcake21 · 29/01/2021 19:21

using a great moisturiser is important to prevent dry skin

CathBookworm · 29/01/2021 19:38

we use Oilatum in the bath, and use E45 on the hands, as they get very sore in the cold weather. Haven't used La Roche Posay on the boys, but I sometimes use their products myself.

witch hazel is great for red spots on the cheeks...

SusannaCallaghan · 29/01/2021 20:38

Cream on face and hands in winter, sun lotion in summer.

karenharrison · 30/01/2021 11:19

My son has really dry skin, so he has to have a more oil based thicker moisturiser in winter.

burwellmum · 30/01/2021 12:20

My son has eczema so trying to keep ahead of the curve so creaming before trouble starts particularly at the moment when they are stationary in front of screens in a centrally heated house.

goldie025 · 30/01/2021 12:27

I place a small bag of oats in the bath. It helps with their dry skin.

SuzCG · 30/01/2021 12:35

Over the years I had been prescribed all sorts for my DS's dry skin - I got a locum GP one day when it was particularly bad and she went right back to basics. Just gave him an oatmeal based moisturiser - and it's kept it under control ever since!

Use a bit more of it in winter and quick showers rather than baths.

Being really careful about washing powders helps in this house!

Idlebones · 30/01/2021 14:26

I always find that vaseline creates a protective barrier against the harsh weather

karla10 · 30/01/2021 15:26

Nothing with harsh chemicals in it and burts bees lip balm is fab for little lips

JulieAlderson · 30/01/2021 16:50

I never used anything on my children's skin, apart from encouraging them to was properly, and they were absolutely fine!

GooodMythicalMorning · 30/01/2021 16:59

Unless it looks sore or itchy we don't add anything in either summer or winter. maybe moisturising bath lotion occasionally but nothing more. cracked lips would be adding vaseline or nivea lip salve stick.

reesy29 · 30/01/2021 21:38

My daughter suffers from eczema and I try to ensure that she wears organic cotton or linen so as not to aggravate it.

beccyr36 · 31/01/2021 06:31

My little girl has sensitive skin so we don't use anything which contains perfumes, Childs Farm range is great. She wears gloves outside in cold weather and has E45 hand cream at school.

Yolostela · 31/01/2021 09:51

I still use baby oil on my 8 year old after a bath, she says her skin feels so cosy when she slips her pj's on.

sammyjay0906 · 31/01/2021 11:47

We have always used aqueous cream summer and winter after bathing, skin is always plump and suffers no effect from being out in the cold in winter.

shaddai88 · 31/01/2021 13:34

I use E45 cream on my sons skin as they had very dry skin. Its a great help in the winter!!

fullarton121 · 31/01/2021 14:18

I frequently use Burt's Bees lotion all year round and it seems to do the trick! No red faces. :-)

forestsmurf · 31/01/2021 14:20

We have less baths in the winter which helps (they tend to be less dirty anyway). My school age kids have a lip balm each in their bags and a mini bag charm hand cream and sanitizer this helps. For my baby I make sure I use a good quality moisturizer after his baths , currently using child farm , which I am impressed with.

Lisapaige24 · 31/01/2021 17:36

My Daughter has severe eczema it improves in the summer but flares up badly in the colder months so all year around she has to bathe in prescription bath creams and moisture several times a day we cut sugars and dairy out of her diet and it’s improved immensely.

marymod · 31/01/2021 18:05

I put some oats in a tea ball strainer and swish it through the bath water as it calms their skin. I find that easier than putting it in a bag, tying it and then removing.

I also make sure that everyone has on lip balm before we go outside, which has made a huge difference.

Sonlou · 31/01/2021 19:45

My son suffers badly from chapped lips I was given a great tip from my doctor to put Vaseline over lip balm it creates a seal and work much better.

Mrsreedus · 31/01/2021 20:41

I find the good old products like Nivea are the best, it's moisturising cream is so soothing, it was good enough for my nana, my mum and myself, so it's good enough for my kids! Also, a scarf around the lower face when they are outside in cold air, a hat, and gloves; keep everything covered and protected.
