Family skincare tips shared with La Roche-Posay

Keeping your family’s skin healthy can be difficult, particularly once the winter chill sets in. With that in mind, La Roche-Posay would like to hear about the skincare tips you have.

Here’s what La Roche-Posay has to say: “Extreme temperatures, a lack of humidity in the air and even strong wind can weaken the protective layer of the skin, causing it to lose natural moisture. This is why you tend to notice even more dry or sensitive skin in winter. It is key to pay attention to these signs and take extra care of your family’s skin during this time of the year. We would love to understand what winter skin concerns you and your family have, and how you are dealing with them”

Do you have a skincare routine that works for the whole family? Maybe you have ‘hero’ products that seem to do everything for everyone? Does La Roche-Posay feature on your family’s skincare routine? Perhaps you have tips on things to avoid to keep your skin healthy?

Whatever your family skincare tips, share them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I share moisturiser with my teenage daughter. We use a high spf factor moisturiser such as Sunsense. I’ve just bought Aqua rich watery essence to try this year as it was recommended on Mumsnet.

We all have quite sensitive skin so tend to avoid anything with a strong scent. All our shower gels/moisturisers are for sensitive skin/soap free

Chocolate50 · 27/03/2020 18:16

A good healthy diet and lots of water, sunscreen, a good moisturiser.

ailsasheldon · 30/03/2020 14:14

We make a Great coconut and sugar scrub which is very moisturising

For me, the number one thing is to keep hydrating. When you actually make a note of how much water you drink in a day, then you realise that you're not actually drinking enough.

My sister makes 100% natural lotions and these work for the whole family, including DD who has eczema.

claza93 · 02/04/2020 19:40

My children all have sensitive skin and so we use gentle, non fragranced products.
We also try to drink plenty

missfab · 03/04/2020 19:41

i love using aveeno products on my family. its great for sensitve skin

misscherry · 03/04/2020 19:51

always wear sunscreen to protect your family's skin

sexyandsweet · 03/04/2020 19:59

routine is to moisturise hands and body after bath time and washing hands

MissMoan · 05/04/2020 03:49

Sunscreen, smiles and a little bit of messiness seems to do the trick.

christmasmum · 06/04/2020 09:11

I use the Effaclar range after seeing it recommended on Mumsnet and have seen huge improvements in my skin - thank you Roche Possay!

In terms of seasonal differences, I use more sunscreen in the summer and more moisturiser in the winter. Why children suffer with chapped lips so definitely encouraging them to use lip balm is key.

janney3 · 06/04/2020 09:20

Sensitive skin here so lots of unperfumed products. Always use SPF on mine and kids exposed skin.
Moisture where needed and try to prevent sore skin by using emollients as a preventative measure

AngelwingsPetlamb · 06/04/2020 11:08

Gentle products that are not heavily fragranced work well for our family. Sunscreen is essential.
Fragrance free moisturiser for dry skin patches.
Ordinary hair conditioner and a nit comb for getting rid of head lice.

SmileyShazza · 06/04/2020 15:47

My tip for healthy skin is to not overload it with lots of fragranced products. Young skin does not need fragrance - tbh it doesn't even need bubbles (even though they love them) it just needs a very very mild unfragranced soap and water to keep it clean.

It's tempting to buy lots of character bubble baths for your children but most of them contain fragrance and colourants which can aggravate some peoples skins.

sausagepastapot · 07/04/2020 17:47

We use Lush skincare products as we all have sensitive skin. Sleepy cream is great for my daughters dry skin and helps her go to sleep. Any cram applied to feet and socks overnight stop for the night always help soften sore feet.

YY to coconut oil for dry lips, cuticles everything.

sharond101 · 07/04/2020 21:00

Cool baths, plenty of fluids and sunscreen.

goldenretriever1978 · 11/04/2020 20:36

My tip would be to use unscented and gentle products. Also to use non bio clothes wash. Cotton clothes are best too.

SusanWalker · 16/04/2020 17:00

My daughter has eczema so i use non bio washing powder.

She uses her creams as needed and I use plain moisturizer.

I'm really strict about sun cream as their dad has had to have moles removed.

virginpinkmartini · 16/04/2020 17:25

Just keeping up hydration, and sticking to SPF because it's a must yearly, whatever the weather.
I'm the only one in our family with dry skin, so I do like to use thicker moisturisers, especially ones that give a bit of luminosity to my otherwise dull skin. But for my partner and kids, just basic cleanliness, plenty of water and SPF.
Oh, and sunglasses are a must for eye health and to protect the skin around the eyes.

CornishTiger · 09/05/2020 07:14

Minimal products. Simple plain moisturiser from trusted brand. Sunscreen where needed not total block though.

Sleepybumble · 17/05/2020 21:47

My daughter's skin gets very dry if she has a bath everyday. Now I only bath her if she's particularly grubby or needs her hair washing.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 20/05/2020 02:41

I like using e45 on the kids, recently switched from coconut oil, found it a bit greasy.

Cd89 · 20/05/2020 22:59

Suncream and lip balm are our essentials.
And for the bath, we use mostly Dove products.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 28/05/2020 07:43

Minimal baths to stop skin drying out, shampoo with as few aggravating ingredients as possible, lots of natural oil rubbed into the skin afterwards, unfragranced Neal's Yard cream on any dry patches, Ecover washing liquid or powder with an extra rinse.
Lots of skin problems in this house Smile.
