From bubble bath beards to rubber ducks, bathtime for your children can be a source of laughter, excitement, and silliness even if you sometimes dread them. Persuading your child that it’s time for a bath can be infinitely easier when you have a trick up your sleeve that makes them playful and appealing. With this in mind, TOMY want to hear from you the ways your make bathtime fun for your children.

Here’s what TOMY have to say:
“Bath time is a key bonding moment for parent and child and bath toys are important during this time for exposing babies to new sensations and keeping them occupied and entertained. Knowing this, TOMY Toomies’ Mumsnet rated bath toys are designed to delight children and adults alike, featuring great water play elements, bright colours and characters, as well as classic developmental play features; championing that memories are made when laughter is shared.”

How do you make bathtime something to look forward to in your house? Do you have go-to bath toys that are a guaranteed hit with your children? Or perhaps bubble bath is enough to entertain them? Was there something that made bathtime fun when you were a child that you want to recreate for your own children? Which part (if at all) of bathtime do your children enjoy the most - the bubble bath, the toys, being in the water, or something else entirely?

Share the ways you make bathtimes for your child fun on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where 3 x MNers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

My sister bought ds1 a set of stacking cups for his first Christmas and these were, without a doubt, the best “bath toys” ever. They each had different size and shape of holes in the bottom and the boys mixed potions and watered each other with them. They washed and dried beautifully afterwards unlike some of the intricate scummy toys we had.

My son has a octopus that squirts water and he loves it, hes just turned 6 and we had to replace it because he was devastated when it broke! Anything that floods the bathroon is generally a win in our house!

Bubble bath and lots of toys

Minai · 10/11/2019 14:03

Putting my 2 in the bath together is always fun as they entertain each other and like splashing each other.

Bubbles are always a hit and they like ducks and bath books too

Mariobug25 · 10/11/2019 15:21

We always have loads and loads of bubbles! My children love having bubble beards and hats 😁 ! We also have little tubs for my daughter as she is fascinated by tipping water in and out of them (how easy it is to be 1 eh!). My son loves having his water pens so he can draw silly faces on the bath 😁 we always make bath times as fun as possible and our kids love baths! X

Blowing bubbles in the bath is good fun

lolamia91 · 10/11/2019 16:40

Making up stories and songs

wildone81 · 10/11/2019 17:01

Lights turned off/down low, music on and glow sticks floating in the water for a disco bath.......

dadshere · 10/11/2019 17:22

Lots of bath toys and a willingness to get soaked!

Annak789 · 10/11/2019 17:43

Loads of bubbles and toys 😁

addverbaan · 10/11/2019 18:06

Plenty of bubbles and bath toys!

mollymoo818 · 10/11/2019 19:15

I always loved bath time when mine were younger and they always enjoyed it too. They loved playing with toys in the bath and I used to have to not be precious about water and let them splash about. They also used to absolutely love it when I used lots of bubble bath.

ha2el · 10/11/2019 19:41

Bubbles in the bath were essential and floating foam letters together with plastic cups to pour water from one to the other. Combined with a warm bathroom and fluffy warm towel, there was never any problems with getting them into the bath.

kittykomp · 10/11/2019 20:32

lots of toys

towser44 · 10/11/2019 21:09

Lots of toys! Our DD makes afternoon tea in the bath with a teapot and cups!

twinsmummy5 · 10/11/2019 21:28

Mine are older now but bath time was always fun time spent singing , bubbles , splashing !
The easiest room in the house to clean when a mess is made !
Now I bathe my granddaughter it’s exactly the same , bubbles and lots of singing and having fun !
Then we have calm , chill out time after bath so she is settled down and ready for bed !

farhanac · 10/11/2019 22:07

You can never have too many ducks

georgiecurlx · 10/11/2019 23:06

give them a waterproof camera, lots of toys, and let them create!

TutsiFrutsi · 11/11/2019 00:09

Issue masks and snorkels, then put various bits of treasure in the bottom of the bath – small coins will do. Retrieving them should involve getting wet all over, which is half the battle! It worked for me...

southernsun · 11/11/2019 09:40

Robofish races is a favourite at bathtime, although sometimes lots of bubbles and seeing who can make the highest bubble tower is fun too.

EsmeeMerlin · 11/11/2019 09:53

We have bath toys, bubble bath and some times some music. Occasionally, ds1 will ask for a relaxing bath so we put on some LED candles and music on for him to calm him down for bed.

WhiteKnuckleRide · 11/11/2019 11:11

DS could play for hours in the bath if i let him. He has dedicated bath toys and squirters but he also takes his 'normal' toys in the bath sometimes - nothing that could get damaged, just his figures which he pretend battles with. He thinks it's way more fun underwater.

BL0SS0M · 11/11/2019 11:44

Lots of bath toys and bubbles and the little water cap thing to stop soap getting in their eyes

lunepremiere79 · 11/11/2019 13:05

A variety of bath toys (some that float and others that squirt water) on rotation, so it's easy to keep the little ones entertained each time. Lots of bubbles and a water jug - endless source of amusement! Add some music and silly faces and bathtime can be a lot of fun, though cleaning neck and armpits are still a challenge!

NellieRubina · 11/11/2019 13:45

Empty shampoo bottles, loads of bubble bath - since they were toddlers and even now (eldest is 11!). When they were younger they used to love the crayons you could use on the side of the bath too.
