From bubble bath beards to rubber ducks, bathtime for your children can be a source of laughter, excitement, and silliness even if you sometimes dread them. Persuading your child that it’s time for a bath can be infinitely easier when you have a trick up your sleeve that makes them playful and appealing. With this in mind, TOMY want to hear from you the ways your make bathtime fun for your children.

Here’s what TOMY have to say:
“Bath time is a key bonding moment for parent and child and bath toys are important during this time for exposing babies to new sensations and keeping them occupied and entertained. Knowing this, TOMY Toomies’ Mumsnet rated bath toys are designed to delight children and adults alike, featuring great water play elements, bright colours and characters, as well as classic developmental play features; championing that memories are made when laughter is shared.”

How do you make bathtime something to look forward to in your house? Do you have go-to bath toys that are a guaranteed hit with your children? Or perhaps bubble bath is enough to entertain them? Was there something that made bathtime fun when you were a child that you want to recreate for your own children? Which part (if at all) of bathtime do your children enjoy the most - the bubble bath, the toys, being in the water, or something else entirely?

Share the ways you make bathtimes for your child fun on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where 3 x MNers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

bath toys and a wee sing-a-long always works a treat.

ecomousey · 09/11/2019 19:36

Take 1 bath of warm water, add 2 small children, top up with a selection of balloons. Enjoy!

mave · 09/11/2019 19:43

Singing, splashing, playing, bath crayons, the list is endless!!!

sm2012 · 09/11/2019 19:44

My daughter loves taking some of her playmobil figures in the bath with her. She has a boat as well so lots of imaginative play while she bathes and I try and clean her!

So bathtimw is very difficult in my house as my son has declared when he is older he is never having a bath 😂 so you can imagine the battle I have on my hands . I have come up with a genius idea that now actually makes him want to bath , we have turned the bath into a car wash he has sponges and all is cars in a net on the side of the bath he washes them for ages then when we get out he dries them one by one whilst I dry his hair ...works a treat

Minnibix · 09/11/2019 20:18

No more tears product of course, my children always got so much fun out of small plastic bottles and cups, they were always fascinated pouring from the bottle into the cup. Kids just love water. Not too much excitement as they need to get ready for bed

Ashhead24 · 09/11/2019 20:29

Duplo is the favourite here, keeps them occupied for ages.

Cailin7 · 09/11/2019 20:37

when our DCs were little most of their baths were pre bedtime baths which were more calming than fun filled. When they did have a longer fun bath they like lots of bubbles and squirty toys

beckyinman · 09/11/2019 20:42

No matter how many bath toys you have they will never be as exciting as an empty bottle

mummyuk86 · 09/11/2019 20:55

We stick to routine. Bath before bed. Lots of bubbles and toys. My sons' seem to enjoy it :)

Dencop · 09/11/2019 21:16

Bubbles, toys and plenty of time is the secret to fun at bath times in my house

RACHELSMITH45 · 09/11/2019 21:17

Provide lots of toys, chat about their day, sing songs!

moosexxx · 09/11/2019 21:35

Plenty of bubble bath (but not too much), warm water, and fun toys. Both of ours really enjoyed playing with plastic boats. Sinking them, rescuing them, etc.

annarack99 · 09/11/2019 21:55

Bath time is much calmer and therefore more enjoyable for all of us if we bath our 2 children separately!

Bigboytyson · 09/11/2019 22:03

Bath crayons are the best especially drawing pictures on the bath and guessing what she has drawn or to practice her spellings

Mossiebonbon · 09/11/2019 22:03

Dressing gown towels are fab for after the bath!

lhlee62 · 09/11/2019 22:08

Empty shampoo or any plastic bottles are a firm favourite with my daughters

sophiefx · 09/11/2019 22:16

Pmliu · 09/11/2019 23:06

Bath toys, lots of bubbles and some bath crayons, my little ones love drawing on the tiles and bath tub with these

glennamy · 09/11/2019 23:37

Lots of bubbles, toys, incl. squirty ones and lots of stories!

PinkLisianthus · 10/11/2019 00:41

My ds loves toy cars, so always takes a few in the bath with him to play car wash. I give him a small cup of bubble bath, some sponges and a nail brush to scrub them with and he could happily play in the water for hours.
