From bubble bath beards to rubber ducks, bathtime for your children can be a source of laughter, excitement, and silliness even if you sometimes dread them. Persuading your child that it’s time for a bath can be infinitely easier when you have a trick up your sleeve that makes them playful and appealing. With this in mind, TOMY want to hear from you the ways your make bathtime fun for your children.

Here’s what TOMY have to say:
“Bath time is a key bonding moment for parent and child and bath toys are important during this time for exposing babies to new sensations and keeping them occupied and entertained. Knowing this, TOMY Toomies’ Mumsnet rated bath toys are designed to delight children and adults alike, featuring great water play elements, bright colours and characters, as well as classic developmental play features; championing that memories are made when laughter is shared.”

How do you make bathtime something to look forward to in your house? Do you have go-to bath toys that are a guaranteed hit with your children? Or perhaps bubble bath is enough to entertain them? Was there something that made bathtime fun when you were a child that you want to recreate for your own children? Which part (if at all) of bathtime do your children enjoy the most - the bubble bath, the toys, being in the water, or something else entirely?

Share the ways you make bathtimes for your child fun on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where 3 x MNers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

ships and boats, my boys love to make bath time fun x

avery64 · 12/11/2019 22:33

When my children were little bath toys were a luxury we couldn't afford so we just collected yogurt pots, plastic bottles, sponges etc along with wooden spoons and spatulas from the kitchen. They still have fond memories of bath times when they were younger.

Bubbles, or bath crackles are big enticements here
Toys, although I hate that some are impossible to keep hygienist
Bath crayons and letters
Both DSs love bathtime and would happily bathe more than their dry, eczema prone skin allows

Give them plenty of toys and empty bubble bath bottles

littlemonkeyz · 13/11/2019 10:41

We save empty bottles and containers to make ships etc. Also, my son loves his squirty toys - we have a foam target on the wall which is great fun.

Put an empty laundry basket in the bath for younger children. It helps to keep them sat up and they can reach all their toys too.

More bubbles the better!

clairemarthaw · 13/11/2019 22:03

Lots of bubble bath. We always make big bubbles with our hands in the bath or make beards on each other.

sallyhartley · 15/11/2019 12:55

I Sing and talk to my child once in the bath… – read fun bath books, sing silly songs about washing their hair, feet etc.

mooota1514 · 15/11/2019 14:44

Bubble bath, cups for pouring and lots of splashing! Recently I've bought some squirty soap foam too that ds 16 months enjoys squashing around. He's always been a little water baby and bath time is part of our bedtime routine. He knows the drill and will say "bubble bath" and lead us to. the stairs when it's time

chris8888 · 18/11/2019 11:28

Lots of colourful toys are fun, my kids learnt their colours in the bath. The red cup is splashing your feet, The blue is splashing your hands etc.

hann24 · 19/11/2019 15:13

Lots of bubbles and wind up toys that 'swim' in the bath are fun. I've also found that making sure the water is warm enough makes a big difference, our bath thermometer seems to suggest having the water a little too cold.

eandoauntie · 19/11/2019 21:27

Make it fun , encourage splashing , play with toys and just enjoy it.
