This activity has now closed

From bubble bath beards to rubber ducks, bathtime for your children can be a source of laughter, excitement, and silliness even if you sometimes dread them. Persuading your child that it’s time for a bath can be infinitely easier when you have a trick up your sleeve that makes them playful and appealing. With this in mind, TOMY want to hear from you the ways your make bathtime fun for your children.

Here’s what TOMY have to say:
“Bath time is a key bonding moment for parent and child and bath toys are important during this time for exposing babies to new sensations and keeping them occupied and entertained. Knowing this, TOMY Toomies’ Mumsnet rated bath toys are designed to delight children and adults alike, featuring great water play elements, bright colours and characters, as well as classic developmental play features; championing that memories are made when laughter is shared.”

How do you make bathtime something to look forward to in your house? Do you have go-to bath toys that are a guaranteed hit with your children? Or perhaps bubble bath is enough to entertain them? Was there something that made bathtime fun when you were a child that you want to recreate for your own children? Which part (if at all) of bathtime do your children enjoy the most - the bubble bath, the toys, being in the water, or something else entirely?

Share the ways you make bathtimes for your child fun on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where 3 x MNers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Bubble baths are great we use the vapour bubble bath just before bed so it's nice and relaxing especially on winter nights when the colds start

RachiePie · 09/11/2019 14:04

Lots of bubbles, they also like the letters which help with their spelling and just a simple cup or empty shampoo bottle to make mummy a frothy coffee!

legfaced · 09/11/2019 14:05

Bubble bath, toys and splashing!

icklemonster · 09/11/2019 14:59

Get some colourful bath bubble bars, add different colours at a time as the bath runs, and you get a unicorn coloured bubble bath. Stick in a load of toys and its the perfect fun bathtime.

Elizasmum02 · 09/11/2019 15:02

lots of bubbles, toys and bath crayons!!

clairbear · 09/11/2019 15:03

Don't care about the mess- get water all over the bathroom and don't care, that's how to have a good bath time with kids! Also use alphabet letters and make words, so it's learning and fun!

fedup2017 · 09/11/2019 15:07

bubbles
And dont forget about toys which arent necessarily bath toys but are safe to be used in the bath ( plastic figures / playmobil etc as they get older)

ThemisA · 09/11/2019 16:05

The right toys, bubbles, lots of talking and being very focused on them and their play

yoeydavis · 09/11/2019 16:07

My Daughter & I gave my first Grandchild his first bath a few days ago. We were expecting tears but he loved it. I guess we got lucky, but in general, I would advise Mum's to make it like playing a game rather than something boring that they don't want to do. "lets go and play with some water & toys", rather than "It's time for a bath" is a good start.

Firstly lots of bubbles! great for bubble beards and blowing. My little girl loves our random bath songs and loves it fairly deep and warm. Lots of kicking and splashing we actually often bath together for the skin on skin as she is still only little and not really interested in bath toys yet.

bubbleybooboo · 09/11/2019 16:13

bubbles bubbles and more bubbles! all my children love bubble baths and always have. they love their bath toys too so they are a must. anything that moves on its own through the water or squirts water was top choice at bathtime

rachelmccraith · 09/11/2019 16:20

Lots of bubble bears! and pretending to make cups of tea with a lid from an old bubble bath bottle as the cup goes down a treat

ricola1 · 09/11/2019 16:27

Lots of bubbles and a toy duck

Mitcholiver · 09/11/2019 16:59

My kids love bath bombs and all the different colours the can be! They also like bubbles and lots of them.

jamiethepaper · 09/11/2019 17:35

lots of toys is an obvious one but going the extra mile and having toys they can only play with in the bath, otherwise where's the novelty

kasperc0mps · 09/11/2019 18:13

Sensitive-skin safe bath bombs and squirty toys

twinklenicci · 09/11/2019 18:13

Lots of toys , lots of playing and bubbles ... thats what my little girl loves

footdust · 09/11/2019 18:30

Bubble bath is a must! As are plastic cups, jugs and bottles.

Tom92 · 09/11/2019 18:34

My daughter just takes whatever toy she sees first in with her (as long as it isn't electronic or plushie). She loves her baths and doesn't need much assistance with playing in there.

pennwood · 09/11/2019 18:35

Bath time was always fun time with lots of squirty type toys, bubbles and best of all sharing a bath where lots of bubbles could be put on hair, noses etc.

jhocknull · 09/11/2019 18:39

Bubbles are great with buckets that have holes in the bottom. Also a mini doll in a floating mini bath keeps my granddaughter amused for ages.

maryandbuzz1 · 09/11/2019 18:40

My son loved having a bath especially with bubbles. Loads of toys ....it was always a happy time. We had no end of toys boats, watering cans, squirters and sprayers. The difficulty was getting him out! We ended up having to give a 5 minute warning before pulling the plug.

AngelwingsPetlamb · 09/11/2019 18:46

Luckily my dc just loves bath time anyway, but I like to make sure the bathroom is nice and warm before the bath and that the towels are warming too.
We always have bath toys to play with but what he really loves is for me to make different spikes hairstyles for him to look at in the mirror once we have the shampoo on his head.
DC also thoroughly enjoys lots of bubble bath and we blow the froth at each other which makes us laugh.
So it’s all about fun really.

Nikita90 · 09/11/2019 19:17

We love to have lots of bubbles! We also have lots of bath toys and do a lot of splashing!

dannyelle · 09/11/2019 19:23

anything to do with a rubber ducky will keep her enthralled for the entire duration!
