From bubble bath beards to rubber ducks, bathtime for your children can be a source of laughter, excitement, and silliness even if you sometimes dread them. Persuading your child that it’s time for a bath can be infinitely easier when you have a trick up your sleeve that makes them playful and appealing. With this in mind, TOMY want to hear from you the ways your make bathtime fun for your children.

Here’s what TOMY have to say:
“Bath time is a key bonding moment for parent and child and bath toys are important during this time for exposing babies to new sensations and keeping them occupied and entertained. Knowing this, TOMY Toomies’ Mumsnet rated bath toys are designed to delight children and adults alike, featuring great water play elements, bright colours and characters, as well as classic developmental play features; championing that memories are made when laughter is shared.”

How do you make bathtime something to look forward to in your house? Do you have go-to bath toys that are a guaranteed hit with your children? Or perhaps bubble bath is enough to entertain them? Was there something that made bathtime fun when you were a child that you want to recreate for your own children? Which part (if at all) of bathtime do your children enjoy the most - the bubble bath, the toys, being in the water, or something else entirely?

Share the ways you make bathtimes for your child fun on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where 3 x MNers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Loads of bubble bath and a water doll that they like to play with

SandAndSeals · 08/11/2019 10:57

Luckily my DS has always loved baths so it’s easy. We sing songs whilst in the bath and he has some squirty bath toys which he loves to play with. He’s equally happy just filling up shampoo bottles and emptying them again.

My boys love the bath, their favourite things are bottles and jugs to fill and empty. We have to have bubbles too! They both have toomies bath toys on their Christmas lists already

MiniMileyMoo · 08/11/2019 13:41

My four year old still loves bath time - we've even had morning or afternoon baths just for fun 😁 we've got lots of toys but he most enjoys his rescue boats and people, and a very basic plastic jug!

My DD is only 3 months so doesn't fight baths yet (though she makes a very big fuss when we get her out). Now that she's too long for the sink I have a bath with her. We have skin to skin and I let her float and 'swim' supported. I talk and sing to her and she smiles and laughs loads!

UpOnDown · 08/11/2019 15:49

They love playing with the foam.

AlpacaGoodnight · 08/11/2019 15:55

Lots of splashing!!! My 1 year old also loves a small plastic doll she takes in with her which she washes and loves to make her splash too. Another favourite is her duck!

My daughter loved to take her stacking beakers in the bath, and pouring water from one to the other.

aynsleyred · 08/11/2019 20:14

My daughter loved blowing bubbles in the bath, a great distraction when trying to wash her hair. Always tried to get her to blow the biggest bubble possible or see how high she could get one to float.

Lots of bubbles. Bath bombs as he got older. We also play barbers and I pretend to be the barber and wash his hair and chat about his day. Really good to find out what he has been up to. Anything that squirts water or he can put water to and from. And he likes to relax. He has asked for a bath pillow for Christmas. And playing will it sink or float with toys, shampoo bottles etc.

Peccary · 08/11/2019 22:19

My daughter has a toy baby bath in the bathroom, she chooses one of her dolls or animals to have a (dry) bath at the same time.

anitagreen · 08/11/2019 23:28

My two love baths and all types of water play actually. They have a wide range of toys they play with but they love emptying bottles out and re filling them or biting my sponges in half no idea why Grin

SSCRASE123 · 09/11/2019 08:23

Lots of empty bottles and cups and lots of bubbles is just about everything that's needed here !.

nettymay · 09/11/2019 08:24

bubble bath, pouring toys, crocodile and frog. We do hair styles with the bubbles and it brings a lot of laughter when they look at themselves in the mirror.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 09/11/2019 08:28

We used to sometimes do day baths in swimmers with foam soap, toys and lots of splashing around but bedtime baths tend to be bubbly, warm and calming. We use a sleep bubble bath and shower gel and the kids choose their music.

IonaAilidh11 · 09/11/2019 08:57

lots of toys and bubble bath

phillie1 · 09/11/2019 09:02

Toys that squirt water

minkeymonkeys · 09/11/2019 09:12

Bubbles, shaving foam, bath crayons and lots of toys. The kids want to stay in the bath for ages.

kagglen · 09/11/2019 09:17

The more bubbles the better and their favourite toys always makes them happy.

maureen3733 · 09/11/2019 09:22

bubble bath and toys. i also found those bath books really help to keep attention focussed.

Spices001 · 09/11/2019 09:25

The bath crayons were a big hit but boy did they create a mess! ;-)
Another favourite was a squirting whale 🐳

AR2012 · 09/11/2019 09:32

Duckies and warm bubble bath help set the environment. They play their toys while we wash them.

strawberrisc · 09/11/2019 09:35

Just like with car journeys and bedtime, the key for a fun bathtime is games. To get the end result (a clean and shampooed child!) incorporating games sometimes almost makes you forget why they are in the bath in the first place! Also, playing games makes it easier to bath them both at the same time.

abigailflo7 · 09/11/2019 09:41

My son loved his Teletubbies bath time toy which stuck to the side of the bath so much I used to have trouble getting him out of the bath!

chr1ssy0908 · 09/11/2019 09:56

One word. BUBBLES. This is all it take for probably....hmmm....the first 60 years?! 😂

Seriously my little ones adore them!
