Gaviscon Advance range is indicated for use during pregnancy, in addition it isn’t absorbed into your bloodstream to work. Gaviscon advance works by forming a protective barrier on top of the stomach contents which helps prevent the acid rising into your food pipe.
Medicines can affect the unborn baby. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine in pregnancy.

Avoid eating too late so that your digestion is done before bedtime

Firstly put a couple of bricks under your bed, this ensures that you are slightly raised up at the top end. Laying on your left hand side also helps with reflux. Take gaviscon to soothe. Most importantly seek help from your GP, I suffered in silence for too long and now have Barrett’s esophagus and ended up having a Nissen fundoplication.

I get heartburn on a regular basis and have been prescribed Lansoprazole for a few years now. I do find that it's better when I don't eat fatty foods and I try to drink water to dilute the pain.

Someaddedsugar · 26/10/2019 17:29

I really suffered while pregnant and as others have said used milk where I could, and then gaviscon on prescription as I was getting super huge bottles of the stuff!

Dapootz · 26/10/2019 17:44

Try to reduce spicy foods. Don’t lie down after eating.

Marg2k8 · 26/10/2019 17:55

Fortunately, it is not something I suffer with.

AnimalAddict · 26/10/2019 18:00

I always found Gaviscon does the trick!

sallyhartley · 26/10/2019 18:14

along with Gaviscon, I take a supplement that has zinc and L-Carnosine in it. I suffer with terrible acid reflux.

xaphan77 · 26/10/2019 18:19

chewing gum really helps dilute the acid or try licorice supplements as well

clareycat · 26/10/2019 18:47

Plenty of rennies always at hand but sometimes nothing beats an ice cold glass of milk for instant relief. Also sleeping propped up helps too.

Hannahscuff · 26/10/2019 18:53

I had heartburn when I got very stressed a few months ago - the more I thought about it the worse it got! So my advice is to identify what is triggering it and deal with that. Once I realised it was stress related and took time to calm myself and have a break it gradually got better.

MAForster · 26/10/2019 18:56

I regularly have to use Gaviscon

Annak789 · 26/10/2019 19:20

For me a glass of milk always works Smile

moosexxx · 26/10/2019 19:23

Avoid alcohol and spicy foods. And rennies, really worked for me.

APJ1 · 26/10/2019 19:28

Omeprazole is a godsend!

MooMummy12 · 26/10/2019 19:31

Eat love heart sweets and drink cold milk

chloe968 · 26/10/2019 19:55

take over the counter products to ease symptoms

claza93 · 26/10/2019 20:11

I suffered during pregnancy and towards the end I was swigging from the bottle! I found drinking cold milk and keeping propped up at night relieved it a little

clairbear · 26/10/2019 20:30

Nothing beats rennies!

twinklenicci · 26/10/2019 20:33

Dont eat late at night , have smaller meals and try to lay a little up right in bed. Ive suffered terribly for around 15 years and it can get very painful

Rachdayan · 26/10/2019 20:37

I struggle as I’m not a fan of milk, so my only option is to try and wash it down with lots of water. I also try and stay away from rich food for a few days

sophiefx · 26/10/2019 20:46

What helped me through heartburn in pregnancy was to drink water slowly and lie down on my side!

teenywhale · 26/10/2019 20:49

I only get heartburn if I eat chips, or take ibuprofen, so I just try to avoid those.

arat · 26/10/2019 21:11

I have been on omeprazole a couple of times when it's got really bad, but the regular go-to remedey is Gaviscon liquid

liz1970 · 26/10/2019 21:20

A drink of milk :)
