Gaviscon Advance range is indicated for use during pregnancy, in addition it isn’t absorbed into your bloodstream to work. Gaviscon advance works by forming a protective barrier on top of the stomach contents which helps prevent the acid rising into your food pipe.
Medicines can affect the unborn baby. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine in pregnancy.

Diet is the key for me. If I eat loads of rich foods then I know full well I will get indigestion and have to reach for the gaviscon. I find that drinking a glass of milk helps with it too.

debskeay · 27/10/2019 13:45

I used to drink cold milk and that used to help with the heartburn but also used to have gaviscon -

mummyuk86 · 27/10/2019 13:59

I got lots of heartburn when pregnant. I found sitting still and taking little sips of water helped.

Nettie17 · 27/10/2019 16:21

Avoid acidic foods of drinks and drink milk

MarieKlepto · 27/10/2019 16:55

I am prone to heartburn if I'm rushed and stressed. Unfortunately those situations are not always easy to change so in those circumstances I lay off the alcohol, up the water intake, don't rush my food and avoid food which seems to trigger it,

mamandematribu · 27/10/2019 18:17

Milk is very good for heartburn. Plus it's cheap and natural too.

sunshinewey · 27/10/2019 18:41

During my three preganancies, Gaviscon literally stopped me from losing my mind the indegestion was that bad, but in emergencies i use a pea sized blob of toothpaste which helps, or drinking a pint of milk, all about the calcium i am guessing , thanks to menopause, no more of the awful fire in the chest.....

Skihound · 27/10/2019 18:42

Drinking lots of water, eating little/ often and small sips of milk while sitting with knees pulled in towards me seem to help strangely then 4 gaviscon if really bad and the above fails

DassDass · 27/10/2019 19:12

sleeping propped up on pillows, Gaviscon, omeprazole (love this stuff!), a healthy diet etc....I've suffered from it for years so know lots of the 'quick fixes'

katieskatie82 · 27/10/2019 19:14

i've only ever suffered with heartburn when i was pregnant and thankfully i didnt get it too badly! I always found milk worked well and Gaviscon in case it got worse!

kicking01king · 27/10/2019 19:16

Fizzy drinks - especially alcohol such as Prosecco gives me heartburn, so much as I enjoy it, I try to avoid it.
Having plenty of pillows help, so that you are not lying flat - and definitely not on your front!
I try not to eat anything rich close to bedtime as this tends to trigger heartburn for me also.
Milk always helps if I’m feeling uncomfortable and if that doesn’t work, Gaviscon or Rennies.

Rubbleonthedouble1 · 27/10/2019 19:51

I had it when pregnant and now have a hiatus hernia so get it now too. The only answer for me is Gaviscon. Nothing else works for me!

Cailin7 · 27/10/2019 20:54

I had heart burn while pregnant and found eating healthily and small amounts regularly with just water helped

icehousekerry · 27/10/2019 22:15

Peppermint tea, and remaining slightly elevated in bed is essential!

Mamabear1986 · 28/10/2019 06:56

I have suffered tremendous heartburn in all my pregnancies. My only remedy is ranitidine or omeprazole prescribed by GP and taking gaviscon when needed. That is the only thing that helped me. For minor symptoms prior to pregnancy I found that drinking water or milk would help too. Surprisingly, a peice of cheese also helped.

I don't tend to suffer with heartburn (I've had a couple of mild episodes in my life) but when I did have it, I found a glass of milk and sitting upright helped. Products are great if you really need them, but infrequent sufferers like me don't tend to have them in the cupboard on the rare occasion when you do need them!

ssam777 · 28/10/2019 08:16

I get heartburn regularly, and apart from taking gaviscon to get rid of it, avoid combinations of cheeey pizza and beer before bed lol

finleypop · 28/10/2019 08:26

I had terrible heartburn every single day of my pregnancy. The only thing that calmed it for a short time was a milkshake

devito92 · 28/10/2019 08:34

During my wife's pregnancy she suffered terribly with heartburn. She tried every housewife's tale to no avail. She wouldn't take any kind of medicine during pregnancy either. We eventually found Mcdonalds milk shakes to be the answer.

nara1992 · 28/10/2019 09:26

drink and avoid junk food

MrsRix32 · 28/10/2019 09:36

I keep indigestion tablets in my bedside cabinet, so if I get woken up in the night with heartburn I can quickly take the tablets and get back to sleep quicker, rather than having to fumble around in the dark looking for them. I also keep a pack in my handbag just in case.

jazzitup · 28/10/2019 10:08

Sleeping in a more upright position helps me and drining water.

janeyf1 · 28/10/2019 10:09

I find having milky or yogurt drinks really soothing for heartburn and when going to bed I avoid lying on my back

k83atie · 28/10/2019 11:55

Drinking milk works for me

Butterchunks · 28/10/2019 12:10

Omeprazole! And cystopurin sachets, normally used for cystitis symptoms but also provides temporary relief from reflux discomfort.

I miss the dissolvable zantac tablets (now discontinued), they were great.
