Celebrate your fellow Mumsnetters by nominating a Mumsnetter who deserves a treat

As some of you will know we had a lively discussion last week around our new quest (along with generous prize-donors Silent Pool Gin) to spread some joy by asking you to nominate the MNer who you think most deserves a treat this week (you can read the thread here if you, er, must).

We’ve made a few changes following your suggestions and we’ve cleared up a bit of confusion too (not least here at MNHQ) and we thought we’d start a spanking new nominations thread so that everything is nice and tidy. Fear not, all your nominations from the previous thread were included in the prize draw for last week or will still be included in this week’s draw.

So, to reiterate: to tie in with their new #FortheSpirited campaign, Silent Pool Gin is on a quest to unearth the UK’s most spirited characters – and the search starts right here. For two months, the award-winning distillers will be asking you to nominate the users who you think encapsulate the spirit of Mumsnet - whether that’s entertainment, wise advice, steadfastness, kindness or appallingly rude jokes. They'll be giving one bottle of gin per week to a winning Mumsnet user, and so following on from last week’s thread, we’d like you to continue nominating the users you think deserve a treat. In addition, if your nominee wins, you'll also receive a shopping voucher worth £30.

Here’s what Silent Pool Gin have to say:
“It represents our independent mindset and our uncompromising commitment to producing an exceptional gin with a refreshingly individual character, something we’re able to achieve through our unique four-stage distilling process - find out more about this here.

For the spirited is about following your own path. It’s about doing something kind, inspiring, creative, different. It could be finally handing in your notice, booking that round-the-world trip, starting that new Japanese course or even just deciding to make your very first post on AIBU.

Whatever your version of ‘spirited' is, we applaud you. However, applause only gets you so far, so to officially recognise the wonderful spirit of the Mumsnet community, we are launching the Silent Pool Gin For the Spirited award.
Also we’d love to hear your spirited stories so please tag us in at #forthespirited @silentpoolgin

Simply nominate a Mumsnet user for the #FortheSpirited award on the discussion thread and they'll be in with a chance of winning the prize of a bottle of gin (or a rather fab Silent Pool candle if they’d prefer something free of booze). In turn, if your nominee wins, you'll also receive a £30 voucher. Win, win (gin) Gin. We’ll be running the next prize draw on Monday, 29th July.

Thanks and good luck!

MNHQ

Terms and conditions of prize draw:
Activity specific T&Cs: Mumsnet will run a random prize draw once per week. The nominees within the winning entries will be contacted via email or PM to inform them of the win, and to ask if they would like to receive the prize. A non-alcoholic prize will also be available if desired. To receive an alcoholic prize, nominees will need to provide a copy of photographic ID to Mumsnet (eg a photograph of a passport or driving licence), as well as a physical name and address for the prize to be dispatched to. The name and address will be shared with Silent Pool Gin, with the user's permission. Mumsnet will dispose of this information within one week of users' receipt of the prize. Posters of the winning entries will be emailed by Mumsnet to inform them of the win, and to give them the opportunity to choose the voucher they would like. Their name and email address, with the user's permission, will be shared with Mumsnet's voucher fulfilment company for the purposes of ordering the voucher. Voucher winner's details will be retained for audit purposes. Winner's details will be used for the purpose of the prize draw and prize delivery only, and not for any other marketing purpose. Standard Mumsnet Insight T&Cs can be found here.

Can I nominate @littlefluffyclouds please?

She’s bought together a group of mum’s all going through various stages of marriage endings. The support that group of mum’s provide me is amazing and if weren’t for @littlefluffyclouds organising it, the past few months would have been so much worse.

In addition she recently had an accident and am sure Gin will help her healing!

SelenaMeyer2018 · 15/09/2019 23:49

Argh *mums not mum’s...

MrsGarethSouthgate · 17/09/2019 19:53

@NotMyRealName11 has had a hard time these last few months, so she's my vote.

JennyWreny · 18/09/2019 09:12

I would like to nominate @NewModelArmyMayhem18 for organising the "going to uni" threads and generally being very welcoming and supportive to everyone on those threads.

Nutellanjam · 20/09/2019 13:50

I’d like to nominate @Redtoothbrush too for her great westminstenders threads, which I follow avidly !

NigellaAwesome · 22/09/2019 09:09

I'd like to nominate @JaysusWept who has been very dignified in the face of a shitty friendship group situation.

DishingOutDone · 23/09/2019 16:09

@JaysusWept really really really needs that gin, I can second that.

Motherof2Dragons · 23/09/2019 22:18

Deifinitely Jeysuswept. I've rarely seen such solidarity for a fellow mumsnetter. I hope she feels uplifted by the nation's goodwill and gets to enjoy a drink on us!

Motherof2Dragons · 23/09/2019 22:26

Sorry, I can't work out how to edit my post above (presumably not allowed) - I meant jaysuswept not jeysuswept.

mittenwearer · 24/09/2019 21:41

I think we can all agree that @Jaysuswept TOTALLY deserves the gin.

CallmeBadJanet · 24/09/2019 22:22

I nominate LittleBlueBag. Mother of twins. Needs a treat. Nuff said.

Alo2019 · 25/09/2019 18:29

I’d like to nominate myself yes you heard right myself I think I deserve a treat.
I was diagnosed a brain tumour in November and had to spend a month in hospital as a busy mum of 4 that was my worst nightmare, I had 2 surgeries to remove the tumour but my brain was so swollen part of my skull had to remain in my abdomen for 4 months when I had further surgery end of March to mend this. I’m fine now and still here to tell my story but it’s been a hell of a few months and very stressful. This is why I nominate myself for a surprise cause I think I actually deserve this ❤️❤️

mathanxiety · 26/09/2019 00:24

I'm nominating MrsKoala. Hoping she has a little time to put her feet up now that school is back.

AbbiCMumsnet · 26/09/2019 17:18

Thanks for all your nominations - it's been great to see all of your comments, and congratulations to all who have won so far.

The last Silent Pool winner is @onitlikeacarbonnet, who was nominated by @ScreamingLadySutch for "her courage and tenacity in the face of unrelenting abuse, and for continuing to be a good mother."

Well done!

Please be aware that this competition has now closed - thanks again for taking part!

@noblegiraffe, amazing knowledge, great debater, but most impressively offers such help, support and guidance. Even after a day of teaching.

Many thanks NG

Drabarni · 26/09/2019 19:49

Bloody, hell missed it.

onitlikeacarbonnet · 27/09/2019 10:00

FlowersFlowersFlowers
Thank you so much!!
I’m totally gobsmacked and delighted.
I’m off to buy some lovely tonic and some lemons.
Been a tough couple of days and this has certainly helped lift my mood and restore my faith.

Love to MNHQ and @ScreamingLadySutch

Onit xx
