Celebrate your fellow Mumsnetters by nominating a Mumsnetter who deserves a treat

As some of you will know we had a lively discussion last week around our new quest (along with generous prize-donors Silent Pool Gin) to spread some joy by asking you to nominate the MNer who you think most deserves a treat this week (you can read the thread here if you, er, must).

We’ve made a few changes following your suggestions and we’ve cleared up a bit of confusion too (not least here at MNHQ) and we thought we’d start a spanking new nominations thread so that everything is nice and tidy. Fear not, all your nominations from the previous thread were included in the prize draw for last week or will still be included in this week’s draw.

So, to reiterate: to tie in with their new #FortheSpirited campaign, Silent Pool Gin is on a quest to unearth the UK’s most spirited characters – and the search starts right here. For two months, the award-winning distillers will be asking you to nominate the users who you think encapsulate the spirit of Mumsnet - whether that’s entertainment, wise advice, steadfastness, kindness or appallingly rude jokes. They'll be giving one bottle of gin per week to a winning Mumsnet user, and so following on from last week’s thread, we’d like you to continue nominating the users you think deserve a treat. In addition, if your nominee wins, you'll also receive a shopping voucher worth £30.

Here’s what Silent Pool Gin have to say:
“It represents our independent mindset and our uncompromising commitment to producing an exceptional gin with a refreshingly individual character, something we’re able to achieve through our unique four-stage distilling process - find out more about this here.

For the spirited is about following your own path. It’s about doing something kind, inspiring, creative, different. It could be finally handing in your notice, booking that round-the-world trip, starting that new Japanese course or even just deciding to make your very first post on AIBU.

Whatever your version of ‘spirited' is, we applaud you. However, applause only gets you so far, so to officially recognise the wonderful spirit of the Mumsnet community, we are launching the Silent Pool Gin For the Spirited award.
Also we’d love to hear your spirited stories so please tag us in at #forthespirited @silentpoolgin

Simply nominate a Mumsnet user for the #FortheSpirited award on the discussion thread and they'll be in with a chance of winning the prize of a bottle of gin (or a rather fab Silent Pool candle if they’d prefer something free of booze). In turn, if your nominee wins, you'll also receive a £30 voucher. Win, win (gin) Gin. We’ll be running the next prize draw on Monday, 29th July.

Thanks and good luck!

MNHQ

Terms and conditions of prize draw:
Activity specific T&Cs: Mumsnet will run a random prize draw once per week. The nominees within the winning entries will be contacted via email or PM to inform them of the win, and to ask if they would like to receive the prize. A non-alcoholic prize will also be available if desired. To receive an alcoholic prize, nominees will need to provide a copy of photographic ID to Mumsnet (eg a photograph of a passport or driving licence), as well as a physical name and address for the prize to be dispatched to. The name and address will be shared with Silent Pool Gin, with the user's permission. Mumsnet will dispose of this information within one week of users' receipt of the prize. Posters of the winning entries will be emailed by Mumsnet to inform them of the win, and to give them the opportunity to choose the voucher they would like. Their name and email address, with the user's permission, will be shared with Mumsnet's voucher fulfilment company for the purposes of ordering the voucher. Voucher winner's details will be retained for audit purposes. Winner's details will be used for the purpose of the prize draw and prize delivery only, and not for any other marketing purpose. Standard Mumsnet Insight T&Cs can be found here.

SunshineCake · 26/07/2019 21:31

lunar1 · 27/07/2019 10:07

Take two of the popularity contest.

FoulMouthedMotherFigure · 27/07/2019 11:54

I'd like to nominate @RickOShay - she deserves a medal as well for the wonderfully kind and compassionate message she sent in April to a grieving poster who'd been poorly treated and then cut off by her late relative's beneficiaries.

You helped more than just the OP that day, Rick. Thank you so much for giving two people true knowledge of their own worth.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 27/07/2019 20:34

I think thecatneuterer deserves a bottle of gin or nice candle so I nominate her for the all the hours committed to help stray/abandoned/feral cats and sensible non-judgemental advice regularly given on the (in the?!) Litter Tray.

claza93 · 27/07/2019 21:55

I would love to nominate poolofdev - a fantastic mum and great support during my early breastfeeding days xx

poolofdev · 27/07/2019 21:59

I’d love to nominate @claza93 who is a constant support to me, not to mention a super mummy!

TheGirlWhoLived · 27/07/2019 22:12

are you sockpuppeting a popularity contest?!

Aaarrgghhh · 28/07/2019 15:29

This seems an odd post. But fuck it. I'll nominate Datun. Great contributions and explains things well.

clpsmum · 28/07/2019 17:47

I'd like to nominate @user1497997754

Lardlizard · 28/07/2019 23:27

I’d like to nominate TeenTimesTwo for being very generous with advice and time helpful and kind

DontFundHate · 29/07/2019 07:03

Another vote for AuntieStella

No popularity contests please!

TheQueef · 29/07/2019 17:19

HelenaDove for her dedication to social housing.

SparklyMagpie · 29/07/2019 19:00

If I nominate myself and some won, would I get a bottle and a £30 voucher? Grin

SparklyMagpie · 29/07/2019 19:00

*somehow

peachgreen · 29/07/2019 21:33

I'd like to nominate @lisasimpsonsbff for her wise, kind, measured and patient parenting advice. She never judges, she shows incredible empathy and she's realistic - while she never panders, she's often the lone voice of reason in amongst a barrage of criticism for an OP who may have deviated from accepted guidelines but has done so because she's at the end of her tether. She represents everything I came to Mumsnet in search of and, for me, she sums up the spirit of what Mumsnet should be about - one woman holding up another in a time of need.

Enclume · 30/07/2019 00:11

No Sparkly... because I would impersonate you and take all.

lannister · 30/07/2019 06:53

I would like to nominate @Otterses For starting a brilliant thread helping mums make extra money from home.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 30/07/2019 11:08

Gin TwittleBee

She's had a crap time recently but continues to support others despite it all being so raw and painful. A bottle of gin doesn't make things okay but maybe shows that we're all thinking of her.

If TwittleBee wins, I'd like to give her the voucher too, she deserves a little treat.

Grasspigeons · 30/07/2019 21:17

WhatAMum01 deserves more than a bottle of gin. But i cant provide what she needs.

momo01 · 31/07/2019 06:54

I nominate @queenoftheandals for the fab royal style threads - they brighten up my day

AbbiCMumsnet · 31/07/2019 10:57

Hi everyone,
Our our winners from the second week of nominations are @NewModelArmyMayhem18, who nominated @TheCommoner "for her inspiring posts about literature."
Congratulations to the both of you! Next nominations will take place on Monday 5th August.
Thanks!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 31/07/2019 18:29
