No doubt, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been asked ‘What is your dream job?’. For many of us, the answer we gave probably isn’t the career we’ve ended up doing. The Open University would like to know which course you would study to help you achieve your dream job.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of doing a particular job and you know there are courses that would help you to achieve it. Perhaps you’re already in the career you want but hope to move up to the next level? Or there is a course you’re really interested in taking and then you could visualise a career from there?

We’ve partnered with The Open University so that they can help MNers discover the range of courses and qualifications available. Take a look on their website here.

Here’s what The Open University has to say: "Every year, 1000’s of students from all walks of life enrol with The OU to develop new skills and boost their career prospects. With a wide range of subjects and qualifications that have no formal entry requirements, you can achieve your dream career with our flexible courses. Fit study around your life, your family, work and other commitments and get ongoing support from our expert tutors and student services team."

Simply post The OU course you would choose to study and the career of your dreams on the thread below to enter the prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £300 voucher of their choice provided by Mumsnet (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

BSc (Honours) Psychology (Q07) for a career in Forensic Psycology

Leanneskeltob · 15/05/2019 10:42

I would love to do the Certificate of Higher Education in Education Studies. I currently work in a nursery and have always wanted to be a teacher . Having my own children sadly stopped my studies 😞

Sammyislost · 15/05/2019 10:42

I'd be tempted by the Education courses because I've always felt drawn to working in education, yet I never followed that path. I am also tempted by the Criminology course too, something I have always had an interest in. Fantastic options, more than I expected!!

chris8888 · 15/05/2019 10:47

I`d love to study for an MA in Criminology, particularly the criminalizing of women in Britian. My dream job would be to be a writer.

Doodygirl2009 · 15/05/2019 10:49

I would study BSc (Honours) Computing and IT has I was studying this at university when I fell pregnant with my son. I finished my 2nd year exams while pregnant and took a year out but then I fell pregnant with my daughter and never completed my final year. I’d love to complete my degree one day

NICH7 · 15/05/2019 11:03

I would like to take Health Science course.

WhiteKnuckleRide · 15/05/2019 11:04

I really love my current job - I work for an accountancy firm and have 3 years experience but no qualifications. I am learning something new every day and I've been able to handle everything thrown my way so far - however if I was ever made redundant (likely within next 10 years as my boss could retire and close down the business) I would like to be able to walk into a similar job role. So when I have saved some money I would like to get my accountancy qualifications.

PinaColadas3 · 15/05/2019 11:06

Computing & IT and Design would be my dream. I've wanted to have a career in this subject and regret not taking the relevant qualifications in school. Would change my life

tallandlong · 15/05/2019 11:06

maybe electronics, would enjoy knowing how things work

debjani · 15/05/2019 11:08

Creative writing - to find my 'voice' again after many years of editing other people's (non-creative) copy

1lMK090976 · 15/05/2019 11:21

I'd choose the BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences (Earth Sciences) course. As my dream job would be a scientific in the mid-west of America studying and chasing tornadoes.

Raffy2019 · 15/05/2019 11:34

I would love to take on a psychology module, to then take on a psychology conversion masters and follow the dream of being an Ed Psych!

kateloader · 15/05/2019 11:36

BA (Honours) Criminology and Psychology. I just love any programmes regarding the Police and Crime, I wish I'd had the passion when I was younger and choosing what to do in my Career.

AnimalAddict · 15/05/2019 11:40

Forensic Psychology, it's so interesting!

socat · 15/05/2019 11:42

Web development/design and programming. Must be a very creative job.

minkeymonkeys · 15/05/2019 11:42

I'm a nurse. I'd like to study law

Sarz10519 · 15/05/2019 11:45

Midwifery, would be my dream job. Due to have my son fairly young I decided to be an accountant instead as the course could be taken during the evenings after work, definitely not a fun choice!

mrsdeedow · 15/05/2019 11:47

I keep going back to the OU to apply for the criminology course, but the issue that always comes back is that they make applying for a fee waiver here in Scotland difficult, most things are done online these days but their form needs printed, confirmed but benefits agency (footwork) before its posted

queenoftheschoolrun · 15/05/2019 11:58

Oh I can't choose, I'm like a child in a sweet shop! If I had my time again I'd maybe try one of the counselling courses. I think I'd like to work with children. But then again maybe one of the creative writing courses...
Luckily I have a job and this is just a what if scenario, decision making isn't one of my strong points!

sophiefx · 15/05/2019 12:01

Hospitality and Tourism :)

juicylucywb · 15/05/2019 12:02

I've always wanted to be florist! Don't fancy the early mornings though!

redheadz · 15/05/2019 12:09

speech and language therapy.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/05/2019 12:10

I think I would go for the BA (Hons) in English Literature and Creative Writing - I love books, and have always been an avid reader, and if I could wave a magic wand and choose a career for myself, it would be being a published writer, of fiction.
