No doubt, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been asked ‘What is your dream job?’. For many of us, the answer we gave probably isn’t the career we’ve ended up doing. The Open University would like to know which course you would study to help you achieve your dream job.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of doing a particular job and you know there are courses that would help you to achieve it. Perhaps you’re already in the career you want but hope to move up to the next level? Or there is a course you’re really interested in taking and then you could visualise a career from there?

We’ve partnered with The Open University so that they can help MNers discover the range of courses and qualifications available. Take a look on their website here.

Here’s what The Open University has to say: "Every year, 1000’s of students from all walks of life enrol with The OU to develop new skills and boost their career prospects. With a wide range of subjects and qualifications that have no formal entry requirements, you can achieve your dream career with our flexible courses. Fit study around your life, your family, work and other commitments and get ongoing support from our expert tutors and student services team."

Simply post The OU course you would choose to study and the career of your dreams on the thread below to enter the prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £300 voucher of their choice provided by Mumsnet (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

If OU offered a degree in dietetics, I'd live to do that.
The course they do which I would pick is forensic psychology.

Bachelor of Laws (graduate entry) to retrain as a lawyer

JaneyJimplin · 14/05/2019 19:55

BA (Honours) English Literature and Creative Writing - a superb chance to write my novel whilst getting academic qualifications at the same time!

sarat1 · 14/05/2019 20:59

An MA in Creative Writing looks interesting.

I had previously considered taking an OU course but could never have afforded to, so it was interesting to see that I may be eligible for a Part-Time Fee Grant that could cover 100% of the costs.

I can't find a Fashion Design & Garment Technology type course listed, which is what I would love to complete a degree in, but I'm going to order a prospectus and study what is available in more detail to see if I can be inspired to resume studying, alongside my current job, in order to achieve my dream job.

I am fed up working to live, I want to live to work!

cookiemonster3 · 14/05/2019 21:39

I'm starting on my business management degree with the ou in October. I cannot wait!!

RaininSummer · 14/05/2019 21:49

I would love to take a real arty course as it wasn't a route my parents favoured when I was younger. Not fine art but more textiles and mixed media. Maybe one day when I retire.

Jaderice21 · 14/05/2019 21:49

BSc (Honours) Adult Nursing is my dream job but i feel its something i cant do but anything is possible

Iambuffy · 14/05/2019 21:51

Foundation degree in counselling.

I've seen first hand the difference it can make to people's lives.

JustLooking2019 · 14/05/2019 21:57

I don’t have a degree and am stuck in a minimum wage job as I had children young and then couldn’t return to education so I think any degree could help me get a better job but I’d love to do an English degree and that was my passion at school and college

ItsHardToExplain · 14/05/2019 22:07

Arts and Humanities French. I have been eyeing it up for a few years now . . . Maybe this is a sign I should do it!

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2019 22:11

I love my job, and in job terms I'd really like to do an MBA. Part of me would love to do a degree in Classics as ds decided he wanted to learn latin and ancient greek, and I've found is fascinating

Teddybear45 · 14/05/2019 22:12

A Bsc Hons in Finance and Risk Management.

Theimpossiblegirl · 14/05/2019 22:13

I had no idea there was so much available.
I'd like to do Art and Creative writing so I could become an acclaimed children's story writer.

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/05/2019 22:16

Construction.

Every element right through to management

Flapdoodles · 14/05/2019 22:29

I would love to study psychology and become an Educational Psychologist.

jitterbugintomybrain · 14/05/2019 22:38

I would love to study something to do with the environment or history.

oreodough · 14/05/2019 22:44

I'd do the bsc social work, I already work in a similar field and my employers looked into sponsoring me through the ou, but it was a no go.
It would give me the step up the career ladder I need, whilst been a very rewarding career

I would go for criminology. I have always found this interesting and would love a job in the police force

cag2712 · 15/05/2019 07:33

I took Social Science which sadly has been of little help but I would have loved the Creative Writing course, more so now that I have time to put it too good use.

Sleavercole123 · 15/05/2019 07:33

Something in finance so I could have a qualification to go with my experience
