No doubt, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been asked ‘What is your dream job?’. For many of us, the answer we gave probably isn’t the career we’ve ended up doing. The Open University would like to know which course you would study to help you achieve your dream job.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of doing a particular job and you know there are courses that would help you to achieve it. Perhaps you’re already in the career you want but hope to move up to the next level? Or there is a course you’re really interested in taking and then you could visualise a career from there?

We’ve partnered with The Open University so that they can help MNers discover the range of courses and qualifications available. Take a look on their website here.

Here’s what The Open University has to say: "Every year, 1000’s of students from all walks of life enrol with The OU to develop new skills and boost their career prospects. With a wide range of subjects and qualifications that have no formal entry requirements, you can achieve your dream career with our flexible courses. Fit study around your life, your family, work and other commitments and get ongoing support from our expert tutors and student services team."

Simply post The OU course you would choose to study and the career of your dreams on the thread below to enter the prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £300 voucher of their choice provided by Mumsnet (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

I would love to go into nursing once my boys are a bit older, I've really learnt to appreciate them after having children as we have had a few visits to hospital and would like to give something back

SandAndSeals · 26/05/2019 15:09

I've been working in the Health field for some time and I'm particularly interested in Mental Health. I really like the look of the Mental Health Science course and would probably consider something like that in a couple of years time.

I would like to do a Psychology course as the human's mind is so fascinating and becoming a psychologist would be so interesting and rewarding.

dwerry · 26/05/2019 16:49

BA (Honours) Arts and Humanities (History)

tiddles12 · 26/05/2019 17:36

I'd study Psychology as I have always been interested in the mind, therapy and how to help people with mental health problems.

I’d love to do a plastering course. I’m in the construction trade already but I really need to do a plastering course to help me advance. But what puts me off is that it’s all men..I’m feeling a little intimidated! And the price of the course is a lot of money!

Would love to be a wedding planner in France so French would be fab Smile

pushchairprincess · 27/05/2019 16:16

Pathology really interests me - one way in to this career would be Certificate of Higher Education in Natural Sciences for a starter for 10, so that would be the course for me. (to begin with), then moving to a degree if time/money/employer permits.

Haffdonga · 27/05/2019 16:25

Child development leading to educational psychology please.

DiWoo · 28/05/2019 22:35

I would have loved to have been a dancer but I don’t think the that’s right for the OU. On a more acedemic side, forensics really interests me not that I was ever good chemistry but I like the detective work involved or maybe I just watch too much TV

Ammari515253 · 29/05/2019 00:45

I'd love to do a counselling degree, I enjoying learning and hope I can realise this dream one day!

Jhill1105 · 29/05/2019 08:25

I always wanted to do criminal psychology, but unfortunately I didn’t end up down that path, I’d love to take the Criminology and Psychology course, I find the brain fascinating & id love to learn the understanding of what makes a person do the crimes they commit & possibly help the victims.

sofieellis · 29/05/2019 10:16

I'm a full time carer and would like to do the BA (Honours) Health and Social Care.

cheryl100 · 29/05/2019 19:54

I already have an MA in Social Work but I would love to be a travel agent so would study some kind of tourism course!

Chocolate50 · 29/05/2019 20:06

Law. That would be my dream study course & job.

HelenSw4les · 29/05/2019 22:11

Unfortunately few young people follow a career path that they too would have chosen in later life; I'm one of them. I have a managerial office job but had I just started out on my career again I would very much enjoy to study Psychology and go on to work with families, helping them gain an understanding of their own lives to not only improve their own lives but those of their children.

AngelaKilfeather · 29/05/2019 22:39

Creative writing. Writing for a living would be amazing.

Mrsbjohnson · 30/05/2019 00:34

It would be the BSc in Mathematics for me. I was just about to enrol as a mature student when I found out our fertility treatment had been successful and I was pregnant, so now that my little one (two actually!) is here I’d love to go back and study. I’ve always had a passion for maths and I’d love to complete a degree and then go on to teach some day.
