No doubt, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been asked ‘What is your dream job?’. For many of us, the answer we gave probably isn’t the career we’ve ended up doing. The Open University would like to know which course you would study to help you achieve your dream job.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of doing a particular job and you know there are courses that would help you to achieve it. Perhaps you’re already in the career you want but hope to move up to the next level? Or there is a course you’re really interested in taking and then you could visualise a career from there?

We’ve partnered with The Open University so that they can help MNers discover the range of courses and qualifications available. Take a look on their website here.

Here’s what The Open University has to say: "Every year, 1000’s of students from all walks of life enrol with The OU to develop new skills and boost their career prospects. With a wide range of subjects and qualifications that have no formal entry requirements, you can achieve your dream career with our flexible courses. Fit study around your life, your family, work and other commitments and get ongoing support from our expert tutors and student services team."

Simply post The OU course you would choose to study and the career of your dreams on the thread below to enter the prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £300 voucher of their choice provided by Mumsnet (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

I am a huge Catherine Cookson fan, and do fancy myself as the next Cookson, of the North East. So, the creative writing course would be perfect x

I would love to forensics or any crime relating course , I have always wanted to be a police officer but unfortunately due to health I can't complete.

purplevamp · 19/05/2019 17:50

I love baking and have always wanted to run my own cake making business, so I would do book-keeping and accountancy.

daisychicken · 19/05/2019 17:57

OU doesn't do the degree option I'd really like to do in creative art, but I'd be interested in studying psychology and counselling as it does link to my previous science and health care degree.

bdeegan597 · 19/05/2019 18:06

A BSc in Natural Sciences for me

katieskatie82 · 19/05/2019 18:46

i'd love to do Forensic Psychology. its always really interested me

Ldeemum · 19/05/2019 19:29

I'd absolutely love to do the BSc (Honours) Psychology with Counselling. I've helped several friends and family members through difficult periods of their life! I wish I had the time and energy to retrain. Working full time with two kids is already difficult but I've promised myself as soon as they're at high school I'll look to retrain in a field I'd like to do.

mishknight · 19/05/2019 20:39

londonlass101 · 19/05/2019 23:24

I'd love to do Psychology. Wish I'd done a degree when I was younger!

RoseWrites · 20/05/2019 02:54

I'd love to.go into something medical related - maybe nursing as I've left it too late to retrain as a doctor!

niceupthedanceagain · 20/05/2019 06:24

I'd do SD186 psychosis and dementia module as I'm fascinated by the science of mental health (but not sure I want to work in that area).

Otherwise I'd do creative writing or sociology. I've used OU before, I had to complete a module as evidence of recent study to get into university of Bristol to retrain 👍

I’ve almost finished my BA History with the OU, and it’s been the most beautiful incredible and rewarding experience. I’d LOVE to study an MA in classics, and my dream is to be tucked away in a museum with beautiful and fascinating objects. I would love to be able to work closely with historical artefacts. I currently work as a cleaner in an historical house, and that is as far as I have got at the moment!! I hope I will be able to achieve my dreams, the OU has been a lifeline to me, I had no idea what to do when I left school and have drifted from one job to the next, however, studying again has given me confidence in my abilities and a drive to achieve my dreams.
