No doubt, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been asked ‘What is your dream job?’. For many of us, the answer we gave probably isn’t the career we’ve ended up doing. The Open University would like to know which course you would study to help you achieve your dream job.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of doing a particular job and you know there are courses that would help you to achieve it. Perhaps you’re already in the career you want but hope to move up to the next level? Or there is a course you’re really interested in taking and then you could visualise a career from there?

We’ve partnered with The Open University so that they can help MNers discover the range of courses and qualifications available. Take a look on their website here.

Here’s what The Open University has to say: "Every year, 1000’s of students from all walks of life enrol with The OU to develop new skills and boost their career prospects. With a wide range of subjects and qualifications that have no formal entry requirements, you can achieve your dream career with our flexible courses. Fit study around your life, your family, work and other commitments and get ongoing support from our expert tutors and student services team."

Simply post The OU course you would choose to study and the career of your dreams on the thread below to enter the prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £300 voucher of their choice provided by Mumsnet (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

BSc (Honours) Psychology for a career in Forensic Psycology

TeaBagger · 17/05/2019 07:04

I’d love to study linguistics. Either that or museum studies.

Snufflepiglet · 17/05/2019 08:04

I am a current OU student (BSc Psychology) and highly recommend. It's given me a second chance at HE I wasn't able to do when I was younger. I'm already eyeing up BSc Health Sciences and MSc Psychology. It's addictive!

Would be nice if there was some pick n' mix option of 3-5 related taster courses that could be done say a day a week over 5 weeks or so. Each course would need to include to include not only typical intro lectures & work the students would need to do but also something about future job prospects & an optional session of work experience/shadowing. (Am assuming the goal is potential re-training rather than just to do a "fun" course)

I can’t decide between the BSc in Forensic Psychology and the BA in English Lit and Creative Writing! I work in a related field to the former, but would love to have had a more psychological focus. The dream though? To be an author.

For me it’s CILEX.
Would love to get a job in law. I’m very legal minded but currently work in an admin/finance role which I also love.

Nursing

Cashy17 · 17/05/2019 10:56

Physcology to be a therapist, it completely fascinates me. I would love to be able to help others who are finding life a little hard. When i was at school i had no idea what i wanted to do, i don't think until you have experienced life you really get a calling for what you want to do. Its so important to be happy in your work. But for me its just as important to be able to help others at the same time.

allthingsred · 18/05/2019 08:24

I really wanted to do the degree in social work. Bit couldn't do the degree without being employed in that field.
Only trouble is couldn't get a job without the degree!!!
Now taking the vvv long route working with homeless young people while studying mental health.

PickledChicory · 18/05/2019 09:12

I would love to explore my creative side and do a BA (Honours) Arts and Humanities (Creative Writing). I love watching/listening to comedy and drama and would live to write novels, short stories or scripts. Far more interesting than my boring office job.
