No doubt, at some point in our lives, we’ve all been asked ‘What is your dream job?’. For many of us, the answer we gave probably isn’t the career we’ve ended up doing. The Open University would like to know which course you would study to help you achieve your dream job.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of doing a particular job and you know there are courses that would help you to achieve it. Perhaps you’re already in the career you want but hope to move up to the next level? Or there is a course you’re really interested in taking and then you could visualise a career from there?

We’ve partnered with The Open University so that they can help MNers discover the range of courses and qualifications available. Take a look on their website here.

Here’s what The Open University has to say: "Every year, 1000’s of students from all walks of life enrol with The OU to develop new skills and boost their career prospects. With a wide range of subjects and qualifications that have no formal entry requirements, you can achieve your dream career with our flexible courses. Fit study around your life, your family, work and other commitments and get ongoing support from our expert tutors and student services team."

Simply post The OU course you would choose to study and the career of your dreams on the thread below to enter the prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £300 voucher of their choice provided by Mumsnet (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

I currently work in Safeguarding and am increasingly worried about mental health, particularly in young people. I would love to qualify to work and be useful in this field.

I'd love to do a English Literature and Creative Writing course - my dream job would be anything in the publishing industry if I can't write myself.

sammylea80 · 15/05/2019 20:49

I would love to do Physiotherapy but there aren't any local part time courses.

freefan · 15/05/2019 21:15

Would have loves to have studied a BSC (Honours) Mental Health Nursing course to have achieved my dream job of working within this field. Just feel it is a job that I would have been good at especially when I keep being told what a great listener I am, these comments did spur me on to do a counselling course with the OU

LittleChicken11 · 15/05/2019 21:20

I would choose a BA (Honours) International Studies as I work for an international NGO, but not in my dream role. This would help get me there! It’s a fascinating subject!

Learning another language - Italian or German

SimplySteveRedux · 15/05/2019 21:43

Yes FaFoutis but they are stuck in the classics and negate the musical train of the past 25-35 years sadly :(

Bigsighall · 15/05/2019 22:07

Law for me. Would help progress my career but it’s out of reach financially at the moment.

potofdreams4 · 15/05/2019 22:14

BA (Honours) Business Management (Innovation and Enterprise)

pfcpompeysarah · 15/05/2019 22:26

I would love to do Forensic Psychology, a few years ago I graduated in Criminology and would love to pursue something related to that.

lilabet2 · 15/05/2019 22:30

BSc Psychology with the hope of then studying for a Masters and getting an Assistant Psychologist post and then eventually training on a separate 'Doctorate in Clinical Psychology' course to become a Clinical Psychologist.

FaFoutis · 15/05/2019 22:34

Simply yes, you are probably right. Although there was an AA100 assignment on Madonna - probably not what you are looking for!

SimplySteveRedux · 15/05/2019 22:46

Oh I don't know @FaFoutis , I can think of worse things than listening to Madonna for a few evenings given some of the musical "talent" of the last 20 years!!

animaginativeusername · 15/05/2019 23:03

I would love to study world history and religion , and work as freelance researcher

Cailin7 · 15/05/2019 23:15

Walney · 15/05/2019 23:16

Ornithology. I've always been fascinated by birds and loved the idea of being around birds of prey and others in a zoo environment. I go to birds of prey displays and hear the enthusiasm they have for the birds in their care and wish that was me. I'd love to learn all about falconry and how to care for these beautiful creatures, as well as their evolution. Birds are amazing and beautiful. Birds of Paradise have always fascinated me too.

lhlee62 · 15/05/2019 23:28

Diving Business and Technology as it sounds really exciting and I love to dive

I would love to be an astronaut, but it's not going to happen.

So, for fun, I'm studying maths with the OU.
