Everyone needs a little boost now and then. We all have those frantically busy days - whether at work, at home taking care of the kids or just rushing around trying to keep all those proverbial plates spinning – and it’s easy to forget how to keep yourself well nourished and energised. Not only can making better nutritional choices help keep you energised, but also little emotional boosts such as listening to your favourite song can also have a huge effect on how we handle life’s demands and whatever the day throws at us! With that in mind Nairn’s would really like to know what gives you an energy boost?

Here’s what Nairn’s have to say: “Nairn’s are all about ‘grabbing life by the oats’ and over the next few weeks we’ll be bringing you some exclusive, energising tips - we’d like to think it’s a pretty good fit considering just how naturally energising oats can be for you. You’ll find interviews with our inspiring and energetic ambassadors, expert advice from our resident nutritional therapist and loads more over on our website.

So, if you’ve got a go-to snack or energising habit that you swear by to keep you up and running, why not share it with the community? You could be lucky enough to win a hamper of incredible goodies from Nairn’s and friends, worth £150!”

What part of the day are you most likely to feel the need for an energy boost? What are the danger signs that your child’s energy is flagging? What foods or snacks do you give them to stop them getting ‘hangry’?! Do you get an energy boost from having a bit of family time? Maybe you get a boost from listening to your favourite playlist on your way to work? Would you say that exercise is what helps give you a boost? And if so what snacks do you eat to make sure you keep your energy going after exercise? What are your favourite breakfasts and lunches that help keep you going for the day? And what foods do you avoid that make you ‘crash’? How do you incorporate oats into your diet?

Whatever gives you an energy boost, share them on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a Nairn’s hamper worth £150 and one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

A good nights sleep and some fresh air are key for me. Love a bit of greek yogurt, oats and rhubarb compote to start my day and give me a boost. Oh and a good strong cup of tea!

Going to the gym after school run and the having a smoothie with fresh fruit when I get home. Then on to the housework!

burwellmum · 17/05/2019 14:05

I tend to flag when I get back from the school run in the afternoon before I set to and make the dinner. I always have a cup of tea and something healthy like a banana or not quite so healthy like a biscuit (occasionally oat based).

Good healthy snacks that release energy slowly and keep you going longer.

mcgintys · 17/05/2019 17:23

Hummus and a couple of oatcakes. That usually gives me a much needed boost

Mammatino · 17/05/2019 18:17

Exercise helps. There is a bhuddist peace prayer my mum taught me that I use and a bit of positivity helps. The thought of a nice treat at the end of the day. I eat the old nairns black pepper and butter when I want savoury but need to avoid bread too.

I love a favourite song. Porridge for breakfast or banana and peanut butter with toast always gives me plenty of energy to get me through mornings

I joined a gym in January which does fitness classes. I feel really good aftwerwards, have made loads of friends and I look forward to gym all day when I am at work. It's really given me a boost and gives me a a amazing boost 6 days a week!
However my nutritional health has really fallen off the wagon, and due to a lot of stress the last couple of years coming to head the last couple of months, I've lost quite a bit of weight through unhealthy restricted eating (my always go to when things are bad Sad)
But to prove my gym is worth its weight in gold, they are looking after me and I am keeping as healthy as possible and gym gives me that boost to do that as well Smile

GetKnitted · 18/05/2019 12:05

what really gives me an energy boost is spinning round in circles like a 5 yo! Grin

mkinsey · 18/05/2019 13:10

Putting on some salsa music and having a dance around the living room gives me that extra energy! Must look like an oddball though!

cuppycakey · 18/05/2019 13:26

I struggle at 3pm and if I am at home I will often have a little nap!

If I can't nap I will drink water and go for a quick walk on the beach.

taeglas · 18/05/2019 15:53

I get an energy boost from a walk in the park or gardening.

Prequelle · 18/05/2019 16:28
