Everyone needs a little boost now and then. We all have those frantically busy days - whether at work, at home taking care of the kids or just rushing around trying to keep all those proverbial plates spinning – and it’s easy to forget how to keep yourself well nourished and energised. Not only can making better nutritional choices help keep you energised, but also little emotional boosts such as listening to your favourite song can also have a huge effect on how we handle life’s demands and whatever the day throws at us! With that in mind Nairn’s would really like to know what gives you an energy boost?

Here’s what Nairn’s have to say: “Nairn’s are all about ‘grabbing life by the oats’ and over the next few weeks we’ll be bringing you some exclusive, energising tips - we’d like to think it’s a pretty good fit considering just how naturally energising oats can be for you. You’ll find interviews with our inspiring and energetic ambassadors, expert advice from our resident nutritional therapist and loads more over on our website.

So, if you’ve got a go-to snack or energising habit that you swear by to keep you up and running, why not share it with the community? You could be lucky enough to win a hamper of incredible goodies from Nairn’s and friends, worth £150!”

What part of the day are you most likely to feel the need for an energy boost? What are the danger signs that your child’s energy is flagging? What foods or snacks do you give them to stop them getting ‘hangry’?! Do you get an energy boost from having a bit of family time? Maybe you get a boost from listening to your favourite playlist on your way to work? Would you say that exercise is what helps give you a boost? And if so what snacks do you eat to make sure you keep your energy going after exercise? What are your favourite breakfasts and lunches that help keep you going for the day? And what foods do you avoid that make you ‘crash’? How do you incorporate oats into your diet?

Whatever gives you an energy boost, share them on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a Nairn’s hamper worth £150 and one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I swear by a good home made flapjack, sugar and oats my portable go to energy boost

Sus4nn4h · 15/05/2019 13:42

I'm naughty. I usually go for chocolate when I'm in need of an energy boost. Can you get chocolate oatcakes? Might be a good compromise.

Elizasmum02 · 15/05/2019 13:54

oddly its walking the dogs first thing in the morning! and not skipping breakfast. if i snack on bluberries i also feel refreshed

wishingchair1 · 15/05/2019 14:02

Crackers, cheese and chutney

moosexxx · 15/05/2019 14:22

Fresh fruit usually does it for me. Especially bananas.

amesn · 15/05/2019 14:33

You can't go wrong with oats for breakfast - porridge when the weather is cold, and layered with fruit and yogurt when it's hot! A quick 10 minute walk in the fresh air gives me a boost - exercise is a great way to clear your head and set you up for the day.

pingufart · 15/05/2019 14:49

I make banana porridge (mash a ripe banana up completely and mix thoroughly with oats and nut milk) and sprinkle cinnamon on top :)

chloe282 · 15/05/2019 15:14

I find that eating little and often gives me a good energy boost, rather than one/two big meals. I often have a morning and afternoon snack, that perks me up and gives me a real energy boost. I love to walk the dogs before and after work too, to keep my body and mind active.

MrsRix32 · 15/05/2019 15:15

Playing some of my favourite music where I know all the words and can have a dance always does the trick, perfect motivation for boring tasks like cleaning too!

sarcod · 15/05/2019 15:16

Porridge for breakfast, cool shower and some music always gives me a boot of energy I need to start the day

frances93 · 15/05/2019 15:46

I find that setting myself small tasks for example, sorting out the laundry or cleaning the bathroom (tasks I have been putting off). They give me an energy boost, because the nice feeling of knowing that its done wants me to continue doing things. I find nothing in the sense of food or drink gives me a boost, but just actually acomplishing one thing gives me the energy and drive to do more.

mollymoo818 · 15/05/2019 15:54

I always need a snack and a coffee to replenish myself in the afternoon and give me some much needed energy to get the kids and finish off the chores.
I have also made an amazing 90's playlist on Spotify and I find that playing it really loudly and singing along really re-energises me and makes cleaning and household chores so much easier.

Scoots23 · 15/05/2019 16:45

A large brew with a couple of chocolate digestives dunked in - can face anything after that! 😂

JoJoY · 15/05/2019 16:54

Going for a long walk energises me.

towser44 · 15/05/2019 17:16

Being near the seaside!

onemorecakeplease · 15/05/2019 17:26

I usually have fruit and veg sticks at tea break (1045) and then something like falafel wrap at lunch.

I get an energy slump after work so I end up eating rubbish. Must make a conscious effort to change that for an oatcake and cheese!

alabaster002 · 15/05/2019 17:28

Sunshine - however weak or short-lived!

MrsHaze · 15/05/2019 17:37

My son and I have porridge for breakfast and then a cereal bar and a piece of fruit when we are flagging around 11am although I do admit we like ones with chocolate chips :-)

IonaAilidh11 · 15/05/2019 17:38

a brisk walk

wjanice121 · 15/05/2019 17:47

I get my energy boost from bananas - cheap, and easy and convenient to consume.

jopogle · 15/05/2019 17:52

Love oatcakes with cheese for a light lunch. Always have some indulgent crisps for special treats.

TiggersAngel7774 · 15/05/2019 17:57

cuddles from my son

jacknjessica · 15/05/2019 17:59

A good breakfast, usually porridge topped with berries.
