Everyone needs a little boost now and then. We all have those frantically busy days - whether at work, at home taking care of the kids or just rushing around trying to keep all those proverbial plates spinning – and it’s easy to forget how to keep yourself well nourished and energised. Not only can making better nutritional choices help keep you energised, but also little emotional boosts such as listening to your favourite song can also have a huge effect on how we handle life’s demands and whatever the day throws at us! With that in mind Nairn’s would really like to know what gives you an energy boost?

Here’s what Nairn’s have to say: “Nairn’s are all about ‘grabbing life by the oats’ and over the next few weeks we’ll be bringing you some exclusive, energising tips - we’d like to think it’s a pretty good fit considering just how naturally energising oats can be for you. You’ll find interviews with our inspiring and energetic ambassadors, expert advice from our resident nutritional therapist and loads more over on our website.

So, if you’ve got a go-to snack or energising habit that you swear by to keep you up and running, why not share it with the community? You could be lucky enough to win a hamper of incredible goodies from Nairn’s and friends, worth £150!”

What part of the day are you most likely to feel the need for an energy boost? What are the danger signs that your child’s energy is flagging? What foods or snacks do you give them to stop them getting ‘hangry’?! Do you get an energy boost from having a bit of family time? Maybe you get a boost from listening to your favourite playlist on your way to work? Would you say that exercise is what helps give you a boost? And if so what snacks do you eat to make sure you keep your energy going after exercise? What are your favourite breakfasts and lunches that help keep you going for the day? And what foods do you avoid that make you ‘crash’? How do you incorporate oats into your diet?

Whatever gives you an energy boost, share them on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a Nairn’s hamper worth £150 and one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I love the fine oatcakes with a smudge of,peanut butter and a slice of cucumber, always have two when I come in from my walk.

Discovered Nairns when I was working, my go to lunch was Nairns and hummus, if they can sustain a busy teacher they can keep any ones energy high!

socat · 15/05/2019 11:38

Music! I wouldn't go for an afternoon walk without it. (makes the journey more jolly, putting a spring in my step!) Feel grateful when back from a walk even though hesitant about going in the first place.

AnimalAddict · 15/05/2019 11:40

A nice walk always does the trick! :)

minkeymonkeys · 15/05/2019 11:44

Oatcakes and soft cheese for a tasty energy reboot x

juicylucywb · 15/05/2019 11:59

Going for a run first thing really sets me up for the day, gives me loads of energy and gives me a feeling of satisfaction that I've done my exercise and can eat what I want for the rest of the day!

sophiefx · 15/05/2019 12:00

A big breakfast and a lovely morning walk!

iut044 · 15/05/2019 12:28

Apples does it for me .

laurac1987 · 15/05/2019 12:28

Mid-afternoon is when I start to slump! I find some gentle exercise and a coffee help to boost my energy.

I love oats and usually have overnight oats for breakfast - it's a great healthy start to the day.

andywedge · 15/05/2019 12:33

My first cup of tea of the day - can't actually function until I've had it

BlueBoy1969 · 15/05/2019 12:34

I’m just about to have a mid day snack to boost my mood. It has to be a hot cup of Yorkshire Tea and some Rich Tea biscuits, of course I am going to dunk them!

cherylann2461 · 15/05/2019 12:38

My weekly yoga class gives me an energy boost

RACHELSMITH45 · 15/05/2019 12:49

Caffeine usually in the form of tea or coffee and fruits such as bananas!

DoctorHildegardLanstrom · 15/05/2019 13:02

Between 4pm and 5pm. I have a massive coffee and an oat bar

NewSchoolNewName · 15/05/2019 13:18

A few minutes of quiet by myself really revitalises me better than anything else if I’m busy and stressed. Outside in nature is nice but inside with a cup of tea works just as well.

In terms of food, I’d like to be able to say I pick oatcakes for a boost - I do like Nairns oatcakes with cheese for a light lunch - but in reality, it’s almost always chocolate for a quick energy boost.

glennamy · 15/05/2019 13:20

Mid afternoon I need a snack so I usually have a organic super seeded oatcake with butter and a hot Ribena!

Bubbles2002 · 15/05/2019 13:23

Fruit

CynthiaRothrock · 15/05/2019 13:25

Olives Will th cheese and crackers/oat cakes/rye bread. Thisis usually a weekend treat when we have had a big lunch and cant quite eat a full tea.

Emmax12 · 15/05/2019 13:25

I really struggle to get up and going in the mornings. I find if I don’t drink enough water I feel sluggish and I get a headache. Fresh air always helps me and porridge is a good option as it fills me up.

compy99 · 15/05/2019 13:29

A long walk with the dogs before breakfast really clears the mind and gets me energised for the day

Emski33 · 15/05/2019 13:29

Coffee, some top tunes, and a mini home workout
