My New Year’s resolution sounds simple… be kind to yourself. In reality it is much harder:
Stop worrying, stop comparing yourself to others, stop overdoing things, eat right, get more fresh air, drink more water, don’t sweat the small stuff, enjoy the good stuff… etc 

I'm going to make sure that both DC are competent swimmers by the end of this year. There's a local intensive course they're going on and we're going to try and keep up weekly visits to the pool after that. There isn't a pool near us but swimming is an important skill they need to have.

Natsai1 · 02/01/2019 15:19

Lots of plans for the new year but the main one is spending more time together as a family and having a big holiday before our son stats school in September so lots of pics to print

Flapdoodles · 02/01/2019 15:28

I have lots of plans for 2019 which include losing weight, getting a new job, decluttering the house and being more organised in an attempt to save money - meal planning, etc.

WowOoo · 02/01/2019 18:36

My goal is to walk more with the kids. They always moan before we head out but we talk a lot more than when we are at home.
They have proper walking shoes from recent school trips and I plan to use them well before they grow out of them....She says after taking them to Ikea today. Oh dear!

starlingsintheslipstream · 02/01/2019 21:35

This year I'm going to start a bullet journal - just for fun and to improve my organisational skills a little.
I'm also going to read more. I've set my Good Reads challenge at a (hopefully) doable 12 books for the year.

Tefiti2 · 02/01/2019 21:41

To spend less time on my phone, mindlessly scrolling social media!

TellMeItsNotTrue · 02/01/2019 22:21

To be more organised, and to follow the rule of "if it takes less than 5 minutes just do it there and then"

I'm off to a good start with the 5 minutes or less jobs, and I'm trying to put things in place, like a tray system for mail -to open- -to so something to/with-
-appointment letters- , a pouch by the door for bookbag leaflets and letters to be emptied in to as we get home, etc so that I'll be more organised, but the true test of that will be when the DC go back to school

The DC resolutions include -
Eat more sweets
Play on our new tablet more
Have more sleepovers here
Go to pizza hut more
Get more pocket money

Somehow I'm not sure they will last until the end of the week year Hmm

kat93 · 03/01/2019 03:09

My new years resolution is to become more organized by the time my second little one arrives :)

jitterbugintomybrain · 03/01/2019 08:30

Lose weight, stop using as much plastic, more litter picking. More voluntary work if possible.

treegone · 03/01/2019 09:43

I don't really think of new year as a new beginning time, I don't see it as new year, new me/mindset/lifestyle etc. It doesn't feel like that to me so I don't really feel the need to make changes at this time. I'll make them as they come to me.
My dh is the opposite. Loves counting down to a new year/new start. Every year he takes it very seriously. 😂

CallMeSirShotsFired · 03/01/2019 11:20

I have joined an event on a social Facebook group I am in.

We've all; pitched in with out own ideas and resolutions and it's acting as a virtual support network with encouragement and accountability.

SillyMoomin · 03/01/2019 12:32

(standard) lose weight - I've thrown out all bad food from the house. If it's not there, I can't eat it

Personally, I want to do more. More hobbies, see friends, make friends, have a bit more of a life. I've signed up for climbing lessons, and making a conscious effort to ring not text my friends who live at opposite ends of the country and put dates in the diary for actual meet ups, as opposed to the standard "oh we must meet up" but then you never do

Gazelda · 03/01/2019 14:45

My NY Resolution is to appreciate my DH more. Which means I'm going to reflect each day on what we've done, say thank you more, tell him how much I've enjoyed something, give him my full attention when he's talking, encourage him in his work goals, notice and comment when he does one of the little random things that makes me love him, pay attention to his hobbies.

jacqui5366 · 03/01/2019 16:21

My new years resolution is to take a look at my families diet, and substitute more vegetarian meals, less salt and sugar, we are eating so many hidden calories, refined sugar, and processed food, I intend to end this and improve my families inner health for the future.

daniel1996 · 03/01/2019 16:24

My 2019 goals are to take more photos of my children and make albums, they are growing so fast, I want to store as many memories as I can.

yasmin0147 · 03/01/2019 17:41

My New Years resolution is to appreciate the little things in life. I think I’m going to start writing a list of the things that are good each day and keep adding them throughout the year. Hopefully it’ll give me something to read at the end of the year.

lovemyflipflops · 03/01/2019 17:58

To take my maths and english GCSE's at Adult Education classes, I got (an E and D at school), this will open more opportunities for me and my family.

Cotswoldmama · 03/01/2019 18:36

My New Years resolution is to stop buying things I don’t need. I’m also going to start giving my son pocket money so he can learn the value of things. He’s always asking me to buy him stuff and I think he needs to learn the value of money.

DuskPanda · 03/01/2019 18:43

The usual eat healthier, drink less and declutter. However I won't be stressing if not achieved as my main aim is that all the family are happpy in mind and healthy of body would be a bonus too.

Neolara · 03/01/2019 18:44

I'm turning 50 later in the year. (Unbelievable. How on earth could I possibly be that old?) To reassure myself that I'm not completely past it, my goal for the year is to run a marathon. Inspired by another MN thread, I've signed up to a race In Oct. Currently comfortable running for only 30 minutes so will be a proper challenge.

SoftBlocks · 03/01/2019 18:47

Do some refresher training and go back to work as a freelancer. I’ll definitely need a good printer for that!

AutumnCrow · 03/01/2019 18:53

To finish writing the book I've been working on for two years. And possibly the other two ...

I could afford lots of ink then
