NOW CLOSED

It’s no secret that kitchens house potentially dangerous items that are intriguing to a toddler set on exploring. With this in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to find out how you fare at spotting hazards in the kitchen. Take this quiz to find out and share how you get on below.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “There is nothing more special than watching your little one take their first steps or hearing them say their first words. These incredible moments will stay with us as parents forever but with them come new things to watch out for. As little explorers grow and begin discovering the world, the risks around them change, too. For Fairy Non Bio, we want to spread the word to keep your laundry detergents safely away from little hands. Click close lids, store products up high and be aware of where your child is when you are doing the washing.”

Whether you can spot hazards without thinking or need to brush up on your safety skills, share your score below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I didn't twig there was a time limit as had half an eye on something else so missed guessing the first two..5/7! Were obvious though and so far no one has been injured in my house as I'm fairly on top of making it safe. But some of those pics definitely had more than one hazard I thought.

I got 7/7 but agree there were more than 1 hazard in some pics.

7/7 fairly common sense

Quick question, why would design washing tabs look like fucking sweets and bite sized to boot and then blow the entire marketing budget on getting kids not to eat them?

Here's an idea, for free, make it look like a vegetable.

7/7 but I think fairy need to brush up on their hazard perception. The pan was just as dangerous as the wine glass and the wine bottle!

What a load of rubbish.

The hazard is not that the stove is on, but that the handle of the pan is sticking out over the edge of the stove.

An open dustbin is not a hazard, though its contents may be.

The open packet of detergent is not the only hazard in the picture - the open door of the front-loader is also a hazard.

Drinking the wine is the least of the dangers in that picture - pulling the pan off the edge of the worktop, or breaking the glass in the same way, are far more likely and dangerous.

7/7 - pretty common sense, but as others have mentioned there were multiple hazards in some of the pictures

7/7 - common sense really.

6/7.

I’m still confused about the last picture.

How is the glass of wine the main hazard when there’s a heavy looking pan that’s hanging over the edge of the kitchen counter?
And also I leave the wine in the bottle until the kids are tucked up in bed. I can’t be the only parent who does this.

7/7 . But I am a nervous nana !

chilledteacher · 17/12/2018 18:07

7/7 but the last picture was misleading because the pan is also hazardous. I would also be wary of my child running towards the glass doors in the bin picture.

7/7 for me too.
The one that has got me stressed in the past is the iron and ironing board. I need child free space for this job - but it's not always possible.

6/7. I didn't realise the hazard was basically the whole picture! I was looking for a sticking out handle or something that you could do something about to prevent incidents. Keeping liquitabs etc out of reach is obvious, but I'm not sure what we're supposed to learn/do differently in the first one - just don't ever cook anything on gas?!
