For many of us when we see or a hear a reference to a toy from our childhood, we are immediately transported by to a specific time when we were younger playing with that toy...queue all the nostalgic feelings. BRIO would love to know all the toys that give you that nostalgic feeling and what it is about them that makes you feel that way.

Here’s what BRIO have to say: “We just turned 130, yet we feel more vital than ever. And that’s a good thing when working with toys. Because just as play develops children, play has developed us as a company. Smart Tech is the latest integrated technology from BRIO which is adding extra layers of functionality and play value to our timeless toys. The Smart Tech trains can stop, turn around, go slower or go faster using the accessories that are in the range, bringing even more magic to the BRIO World. In a world full of technology and computers, traditional play is at the core of what we do at BRIO. Our Smart Tech range combines clever train technology with traditional play patterns, meaning as parents you don’t need to feel nostalgic for those classic toys as they’re at the heart of everything we do.”

Watch this video on the BRIO Smart tech Engine with Action Tunnel Set:

Is it the Troll Dolls that make you feel nostalgic as you remember spending hours styling their bright pink hair? Perhaps seeing your DC talking to imaginary people on your phone makes you remember you doing the same on your Chatter Telephone? Did you think of yourself as a highly-skilled chef with your Easy-Bake Oven? Would you just spend hours drawing out things on your Etch A Sketch? Or is it good old Play-Doh that always make you feel nostalgic whenever your child plays with it?

Whichever toys make you feel nostalgic, share them on the thread below and everyone who comments will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list) and another four MNers will win a BRIO Smart Tech Engine Set with Action Tunnels, worth £89.95 each.

Thanks and good luck.

It has to be Lego! I spent hours curled up in front of the fire with a giant tub of bricks, making castles and pirate hideouts, rummaging around to find just the right brick... I've still got it all in the attic, and can't wait till my DC are old enough to play with it too!

I loved babies that crawled, or came in a little bath with a shower that actaully worked with water. Tiny tears and thing ike that, and my nurses/ doctors set and I still want to buy them.

Meccano. My grandad had loads of it from when he was younger, I spent many wonderful hours constructing things with him.

Angiemum24 · 27/10/2018 17:49

Rangy dolls and wooden toys. My ragged doll went everywhere with me and when I see them in shops I feel like Christmas has come.

Wooden toys and the clacking of the wood together makes me feel like I’m again..

Matchbox cars and a wooden garage. Mr Men books. I love the clangers figures. Wooden farm set and animals. Also quadro - my fave childhood toy, so versatile.

Etch a sketch does make me go all nostalgic, till I have a go and remember I was rubbish! Simon says, and view master were my prized possessions. My son loved the solid metal Thomas trains.

Bumblebeans · 28/10/2018 20:33

The smell of playdoh makes me feel nostalgic. It reminds me of childhood

Nicole1709 · 28/10/2018 21:57

I used to love Polly Pocket as a doll, and any of the Famous Five books or Enid Blyton books bring back lots of memories!

smileyfacechocolatebutton · 28/10/2018 22:37

I loved Barbies and thought all my birthdays and Christmases had come at once when I got a barbie house! I also loved my treehouse, the get along gang, Rainbow Brite and my little ponies. I can also remember having loads of fun with a huge cardboard box being a bus! When I was older I liked board games like othello and monopoly. Happy memories!

My big Sindy house with a lift on the outside is really the only thing I remember having, we didn't have anywhere near the amount of toys then that kids do now! I used to read more than anything else.

MrRichTea · 30/10/2018 13:37

My huge collection of LEGO, it was epic!

ha2el · 01/11/2018 14:12

Lego. It taught me how to build house corners to perfection and I love recreating my skills whenever the lego box comes out!

kayadeola · 01/11/2018 15:15

My sindy dolls house I used to love it till I climbed up it and my leg went through the whole thing lol...Also I had a pregant barbie doll that was fun.

angiehoggett · 01/11/2018 21:14

I had a cabbage patch doll that I adored, the birth certificate that came with her had the birth date as the day after my birthday!
